127 mm vs. 120 mm The biggest difference is the penetration and never the DPM. Mostly the smaller gun is generally used more because it’s consistent with good handling and penetration.
Bigger gun may have less penetration but you can easily overmatch armor (like bz-176's roof which is impossible even with 340mm HEAT pen of T-10's 122mm gun)
For anyone wanting to grind the AMX M4 54 line: mentally and economically prep yourself to skip as much of the AMX 65t as possible, if not entirely. The 65t is just awful, imo in contention for the worst tier 8 heavy. On top of that, I'd highly recommend getting the top turret on the AMX M4 51 as soon as possible, maybe with free xp, or else ur stuck with an unusable turret at tier 9. The tunnel is very, very dark but there is a light at the end of it.

Somehow, as someone else said, I have one of my best performances on the AMX 65t out of all tier 8s in the game. 6.5k damage and 4.5k assisting damage on Siegfried Line vs tier 10. Also, I got my first mark in 11 games on it =))

I am right now grinding this tier 10 and i am right now on tier 7. Max this video made me to want this tank even more and i am grinding it for my first tier 10.

recently went to 100% moe on this tank. it's truly still a gem, even after the slight nerfs. I played it with the small gun though, for the penetration, laser accuracy and the fact that you can run turbo AND hardening when using the small gun, which truly is not appreciated enough, you should give it a try. Also, if you're gonna play with the bigger gun, i'd just stick with the tier 10 one cause it's just so much better
The M4 54 is pretty much the same way now at this point. The nerf really affected the gameplay with the 130mm gun so now when I see them in games they're using the 120mm.
this tank and the tier 10 were one of my fav 3 marks that i did plus yes even the t8 were fun because the gun works and you can bait with the hull, when 3 marking the t9 use the small gun and the t10 use the large gun
They really killed this line for me, I liked it better before it was buffed, it was unique and fun imo because it was quite nimble for its size while packing a punch, its gun handling for its alpha was also really good, all it needed was a dpm and penetration buff. Now its just a shadow of its former self.
While I'm not the world's best tanker, I'm pretty sure I have a 33% winrate on this tank during my grind. Never understood people talking about how strong it was (this was pre-buff/nerf).
Nah, the small gun is better imo. Not because of credits but that accuracy on the small guns, on both the 51 and 54 is close to Conq's level of accuracy. Had to readjust to these tanks after the nerfs but now both the t9 and t10 AMXs are my second favourite heavies in the game. At tier 9 I like the Conq more while at tier 10 I find the 60TP more competitive, while the ramming IS7 build is just too fun.
I want the m4 51 tank so much but im still stuck at the 65T, its unbereable and i cant be bodered to xp my way through because i dont have large amounts of xp to skip through
65 t is horrendous. I would suggest trying the stock turret, it has better armour. And dump your x5 from premium into it (that's how I deal with terrible grinds anyway). Also don't forget about blueprints.
that's how you should play it. and in their current state, the tier 9 is more fun to play than the tier 10 in my opinion, just because it's basically the same tank but a tier lower and with a tiny bit less dpm

Stick with the stock turret and 100mm gun with judicious use of premium and getting through the 65t isn't so bad.

I still prefer the bigger gun on m4 51 just for the overmatches, even if the alpha increase is arguably not worth the worse gun handling
I play the tier 9 with the small gun and the tier 10 with the big gun. Someone advised me in this. But i like the tier 9 better. Any other advice Max?

These tanks show how important it is for a heavy tank to have at least 80 mm of side armor.
Small gun has really low pen. 270 AP is not good vs tier 10 if u must pen from front. For tier 10 560 alpha is go, but for tier 9, 400 is to go.
third game was very well played and very enjoyable to watch
They nerfed Top speed, aim time, accuracy, dispersion factors and dpm.
I marked it with the big gun. It just felt more meaty at the end of the day.
It got buffed, then nerfed so it was worse than before the buff. Yes, the smaller gun was preferred. But I'm free2play. So....
armor and playstyle seem similar to Libertë, everytime i wanted to get the L tank i remind myself of Max's grind video

They changed für dispersion of both guns. And the bigger Gun is now better. Like the tier 10 (Before nerf)
