I took a tip from Wiltshire Man and bought a Polish army bed roll from the military store. Works great with a UL 80 on top. Can also be used in the tent for valley camping. When travelling I would slide that bed to the near side because in the event of a rear end it’s coming through the front seat.
Holes, could have cut staggered slots inch wide or so. Amazon has mattress sized stiffness foam pads just check you measurements and get one close and trim dowmn. Good job, similar in back of my pickup with shell camper top. Good job.
Looking foward to seeing the car camping vids. I used to have a VW caddy but sold it during COVID. I regret doing that, camping in a vehicle gives you a diffrent kind of buzz. Love the vids keep it up ! 👍❤
Hi from Ireland. Great channel. I'm sure you wouldn't have had any issue with mould/damp between the plywood and matrass. We'v had our campervan seven years now with matrass's laying on plywood bases and wev never had any issue. We use it winter and summer.
You've definitely got a spot on car for it and with that seat to just chill out and do some cooking inside too . If I didn't have so much to take in the car I'd defo love a bed setup myself. Got the roof tent which is brilliant but on those bad weather days be great to just get in the car instead. Look forward to you testing it out.
Instead of getting your bed mattress in 2 parts (which might slip around when sleeping) you could get a foldable one made, so you can just fold it in half when you want to use the table for food! Great video
Just love all your videos enjoy watching your adventures, looking at the location where you did the video i dont live far from you just up thr road can't wait for your next adventure
I’m looking for a XC90 for light outdoors activities and definitely your videos replying to many of my questions. Among overlanders XC90 it’s not so popular.
Just found your channel i really enjoy the wildness of your camps im well on my way to catching up on all the episodes well other the coming month i feel like just booking a coach and climbing some sketchy mountain looks great fun 😂 anyway top bloke keep it up my freind
Pretty good, but you know if you cut a sausage-shaped hole a little way in from the middle (Opposite side to the hinges obviously), you could get your hand in the hinged door that`s over your power packs. You know what I mean, just like you`d have on each side of a wine box. You can cut out a sausage-shaped template on a piece of firm card, then just draw around it. You`ll already have a ventilation hole inside the shape to get your jig-saw blade in it, then just slowly cut around it, and you`ll be able to lift that lid much easier mate. 👍
Good effort Liam. It's mad you should post this today as Patrick Dickinson has done a similar thing but on his Peugeot also posted today. lol at that very last clip 🤣
Ey up Liam, love it mate, what a top class set up up your going to have there mate. Be great to see the finished article. All the best mate, Dave 😀⛰🥾🏕️🚙
Ey up pal loving the videos watch every week did you say your from Bradford we’re abouts ?? looks familiar I’m in Bradford as well love the outdoors hope to see you out and about one day 😊
Morning mate, I'm new to the channel and I've gotta say as an ex military man I'm loving the actual content and knowledge of the equipment, can I ask is the volvo your main choice or have you ever thought of a range rover or X5 for your trips. Kind regards
@@GoodBlokeOutdoors oh it works just not optimisedf for storage stuff! next up ios the Ridgemonkey sandwhich XL pan as seen its the best thing for cooking in the car :) or looking at a electic induction hob but need a power unit for that ha! but yh man cant wait to see the continuation of your build :P
Mate - classic in Wickes there, pushing the trolley that says 'pull, don't push' you rebel Liam 😂 not sure you need the vent holes TBH but belt and braces and all that - can't go wrong with a bit of overkill. No offence but I just can't do Volvo's - however at least you never have to change the indicator bulbs on a Volvo as once they are in the middle lane doing 56MPH they never move !!😁
@@GoodBlokeOutdoorsI was watching his stuff ten years ago, he does loads of urban ex, never realised that the strange sleeping bags he had were actually bivvy bags for wild camping.
Thanks pal.. I’d shopped about mate but couldn’t get em any cheaper 😩.. Continental All Season Contact 2… R19 255/50 ( £350 includes the £20 i paid for fitting )
One other thought is it worth putting a rubber trim on the bottom to protect your motor from scratching the trim (depends how much you fidget at night 😂). Also if the seat when your power banks are is slightly higher - it'll avoid stressing the frame.

You can get a decent bed chair for carp fishing very cheap maybe fit in there nice, comfy too
brilliant concept
What an upgrade, going from the tent and backpack to the XC90 hotel congrats 🤩
I’ll still be using the tent 95% of the time, this is just for the longer trips so I have a base to recharge batteries and such and have a chill day👍🏼
Sounds like a perfect plan. Good to hear as it won't be as fun to watch if it not windy and/or rainy and your outside 😂 sorry not sorry 😂
Nice! Use a yoga mat to cover the surface and protect your inflatable mattress until you get the custom foam 👍🏻
Great tip thank you 👍🏼
Great job Liam. Definitely free some space up that.
Brilliant !!!
Can't wait to see next weeks upload 🙌
Looks brilliant well done very practical for what you need
It will be good to see how it goes with your new car bed soon mate 😊 great video as always 👍 cheers Liam and God bless you mate 🙏😊👍
Thanks Colin mate, it will be a great base for the longer trips.
Well organized, fair play Liam. Love watching ❤❤.
Thanks Alan
looking forward to seeing the updates on the bed mate
Thanks bro
Buy some 4 way stretch carpet to cover the top, would look pucker. Mega vanmats is the place to buy !
Great idea, thank you 👍🏼
Them Volvos are a classy quality car mate

Good bed build mate and good storage too 😊

Awesome that bud. Well done 😎👍
If you would have put that hinge on the other way you could have made it so the head end tilted up so you can lay in bed sat up a bit
Ah that would have been great! Might see how I get on with it then possibly swap the hinges round 👍🏼
Enjoyed that one mate. Bed looks good, looking forward to other bits n pieces you do in Swedish tank. Next week looks a mad one.

Clever old thing 😂
Oh that's mint haha! There's me with my wooden pallet haha as I couldn't figure out how to build the frame for my car 😂😂😂

Did you also enjoy the smell of crisps cooking when you were there.. ah, seabrookes.. aye
Where you get your insulation stuff for the window?
Thermawrap from Amazon 👍🏼

Jobs a good'un. But why the world's smallest paint brush? :P
Only 1 I had knocking about 😂 wasn’t even gonna paint it until I seen the paint in the shed
On a budget thats an epic effort mate. When you up in Scotland were up there in a months time?
Nice content boss! I might use something of similar design when one gets his car. Just one question though, what power banks do you have?
I bet your neighbours thought you were building yourself a coffin. 🤣👍
Is that the posh executive model XC90?
Oh yes 🙂👍🏼
Liam man. Listening to a uk lad talking imperial buckles my brain. Then using metric 😂.
😂 true
@@GoodBlokeOutdoors I might get myself a 7seater car now. I’m only 5ft6 so a fiesta would do me 😂
Its weird that you and Patrick Dickenson both did a car video this week!
Thanks for watching mate.. I feel like i’m missing out here, i’d not heard of Patrick until tonight but i’m gonna check his channel out 👍🏼
@@GoodBlokeOutdoorsI was watching his stuff ten years ago, he does loads of urban ex, never realised that the strange sleeping bags he had were actually bivvy bags for wild camping.
Could have just put a camp bed in there and still got your storage underneath and wouldn’t need a mattress
True but the prefer the solid bed frame and its content🙂👍🏼
350 £…life’s like that hard luck man
Respect 👍
£350 for 2 tyres sounds a bit steep mate 😮 let me know when you need to more and I'll price some up for you 👍

@GoodBlokeOutdoors ah yeah conti all season are premium tyres
Is that an MX5 your step dad has got there?
Thats my toy mate, 2nd car 👍🏼
Possibly maybe, you might want to change the car DVLA classification to camper, and update insurance details 😊. But, it looks great.
Pop an hole in the drop down door and you have a mobile toilet😂
Mate that pine is not strong enough...it will break deffo...
Solid as a rock mate
Do i spot a Eunos on your driveway?
Mx5 mk2.5 👍🏼 my toy
Nice I've got a MK1 V Spec Eunos roadster back home. They're everything modern cars aren't @@GoodBlokeOutdoors
