So, in Euros the base model costs € 1,999 ($ 2,213), although there are NO tarrifs on computer devices, meaning competitors products like the Dell in your clip cost excatly the same as in the US here in Europe. It's unbelievebale what Apple does, besides having already a hefty price tag in the US, Apple products are the best example for excessive greed: i'm not the only one here who hopes they will fail epicly with their hideous greed driven policies.
Not to mention their tax evasion scheme in Ireland. So not only they overcharge but they also evade European taxes. Apple is a truly disgusting company. Can't wait for the EU to slap a huge fine on them for their dodgy tax avoidance scheme.
I guess they don't need that. I think they are way ahead the wrong road with their price policy and will decline on their own: their products are not competitive anymore. And without Steve Jobs they vastly fail on the innovation front: take crap like the new keyboards or USB3-only or the useles touchbar and other consumer frightening gadgets, that simply fail to fit the needs of consumers nowadays. I'm so glad they heavily suffered from their overpriced and nonselling iPhone X, the highprice policy is simply stonewalled by consumers. I used to like Macbooks. But they're not relevant anymore for me as paying 2,800 Dollars for an 13" Macbook with the usual 16GB Ram and 500GB drive is far away from any reality. They will decline on their own, it won't take long.
I like your stile and the way you break down technically complex reviews in easy to understand plain English, always it a cost savy suggestion to less informed consumers. A aldo love the fact that you've contributed significantly for what the macbook Pro is today. You have my applause. Thank you so much
I just cannot imagine getting an $1,800 13 inch laptop with such weak specs to do editing on when I could spend the same or less and get such a huge performance increase. How much kool aid do I have to drink???
The thing is after you factor in the extra $200 for an extra 8gb of RAM then you're so close to the 15" that unless you really are taking this out of the house a lot then you may as well go with the 6 core base 15" with dedicated graphics. I mean, if you're spending $1800 on a laptop you have to believe you're keeping it for at least three years. If you're keeping it at least three years and can't upgrade the RAM you need the 16gb variant. If you need to spend $2,000 to get your config then spend the extra to get the better unit....unless again you're taking this thing out all the time for work or something and you don't require dedicated graphics...
I’m struggling with this decision at the moment. I’m looking at going for a 13 with the i7, 16gb of ram, and a 1tb SSD. With those specs, I easily pass the 15” price point, but I get increased portability, and a very decent single core score, which is the main thing used by CAD - multi core isn’t so useful. The trouble is though, you spec up an iPhone, then you realise how attractive the price of an iPad looks. You spec that up, and you see how you can get an iPad Pro for a similar price. Spec that up and you’re looking at a MacBook, spec that up and the 13” MacBook Pro looks attractive. Spec that up and you want to swap to the 15”, spec that up and you realise the iMac pro starts at a lower price. Spec that up and you’ve somehow ended up looking at a system with a cost of £10k-£15k. It’s a very clever pricing structure, but you have to really look at your needs and know which product to stop at!
You’re right but hasn’t that been the case? I actually got mine on eBay new for 1799. The same price as the 13”. I didn’t need the power but why not get more and be able to keep it longer.
Paweł Kęcerski I didn’t end up getting a new MacBook in the end. While trying to make a decision, the Mac Mini came along, and I decided that was the best option alongside my old 13” 2013 MacBook. The bulk of my work, I can do with a desktop, but my old MacBook is still functional to do little bits of work remotely, or to present to clients. I’ve also set it up so as I can access my desktop setup remotely through my older MacBook (a function built into Mac OS). This means I can setup renders on my quicker desktop computer while working on my older MacBook. I can then set the saved files to save to Dropbox / iCloud and access them from my MacBook or even my phone. It’s an interesting setup, but it’s working really well!
Great job by Dave, good to see the Macbook Pro 13 inch getting some attention. People have been so focused about the core i9 oven that hardly anyone is talking about these out here which are good enough for most of the casual macbook users! A huge thumbs up from my end!!
I have a 13 inch pro since 2013. It doesn't give me any major problem and it's still running well. All my previous Windows devices started to slow down very obviously from the end of the first year of use. I'd like to know the experience of PC laptop users. Is your laptop slowing down at some point? Let me know, thx!
@@brucel6413 Yeah, I need to do a brand new windows reinstall every 24 months... it's kinda annoying but its the only way to keep everything running smoothly.
I've been wanting to upgrade my 2013 13" Macbook Air for a few years now and if only Apple had spec bumped the non-touch bar version, I would have bought it. Now I have to wait another year or at least until September to see what happens.
Kevin Gaming The difference is maybe a half pound to a pound at the most. Sure the ones that really need power are going to have a bigger battery, but the XPS and other smaller laptops are still extremely light.
why don't you guys talk about some of the issues with this device? like the pink static screen when you wake your laptop after hours of sleep? or the fact that you can't use a third party usb c hub and wifi at the same time because it interferes with the wifi connection or how laggy some animations are especially in iTunes and when resizing a window? when you review please do so thoroughly to keep your viewers well informed before we make a decision to buy these devices

Thanks Dave this video is very helpful. I have been looking at the xps and macbook for school for a while now and this video really helped my contrast them both. GJ on the great content.
Really like your laptop reviews, no bias. Always telling the pros and cons, and comparing old model to the latest one. And i like your straight forward suggestion to other things to buy with same specs and performance with cheaper price. Thumbs Up, keep up the good work!!! 😉👍
damn man, your video quality has always been top notch (which was initially what i liked about this channel), but now you are reviewing with edited footage looks so seamless. All Hail the Lord Dave Lee !!!
Finally! I can now buy the 13' MacBook pro. Thanks Dave! All these other youtubers just talking bout thermothrottling...I really wanted someone to review the 13' inch for me to consider buying. Thanks again
Of course it does, who wants to constantly be hearing fans blasting when you are trying to work. The quietness of Macs is one of the reasons I switched. All of my laptops would constantly have the fan running or worse constantly be changing speed. Apple makes it come on very gradual and soft and keeps it off as long as possible. While it isn't the best for performance, it really is like a luxury product in that aspect
Holy crap. I was just beginning to research into purchasing a MacBook Pro for school and realized the 8th gen vs 7th gen difference thanks to you Dave. Thank you so much! You’ve made my decision a lot easier!
Also let me mention that if you buy a non-apple hardware, but also install Linux to it (XFCE), then you can have Apple performance on your non-apple device. I am using Arch Linux with heavily themed XFCE DE and I have no reason to switch to Apple. Everything I use is available on Linux. Just have to use Windows VM for some very specific apps needed for college, which are not available for MacOS anyway.
JeSuisAhmed It really all depends on your needs and usage. I've owned 17", 15", and 12" PC laptops in the past, and my current machine is a 13.3" MB Air. The 17" was a heavy, ugly beast and I would never go that route again, whereas the 12" was a bit small. I think 15" is better than 13" if you don't need the portability; you'll get more power, you get that much more screen real estate and your eyes will thank you. Def get a 13" if you're going to be carrying it around for work or school, etc. Your shoulder or back will thank you; the size and weight differences can be significant depending on the brand/model.
The build quality and the screen are really good . I give you that but the keyboard even with the subtle improvement is still terrible. The port selection is next to useless. What are most people *notice I said most not everyone ;-)* going to do with 4 TB3 ports? Sure, we can throw away all of our digital cameras that use sd cards and all of our usb-a peripherals because why not increase levels of e-waste? Even the bloody iPhone still uses usb-a and therefore can't connect out of the box to your brand new macbook pro unsless you use a dongle or buy a different cable... I guess Apple customers deserve this
detzey Steve Jobs would never have green-lighted a Port-change decision that doesn't allow iPhone owners to connect their phone directly to their Mac. He was far from perfect, but he had common sense to complement his vision, and a Zen sense of flow & simplicity. Sadly, the "braintrust" running Apple now has little vision, common sense or flow. They're more concerned with positioning/branding, maintaining the status quo, and obsessing over profits than they are with truly innovating.

Sometimes being an iOS engineer makes me sad. Would seriously consider jumping ship to a windows machine but really just have no choice. I do love my macbook and macOS but my wallet doesn't like that I need an upgrade right now. Also really wish we could've seen the intel/vega chip in the new 15 inch. Want to upgrade but it blows to spend so much on a machine that still can't run vr. Granted that's not what an apple machine is meant to do but it'd make me happy. Debating going for a specced out 13 inch with 16 gb of ram and the i7 and buying gigabytes rx 580 egpu. Ends up at a price near the high end 15 but gives better portability and much better graphics performance when I get home.
When my 2013 MacBook Pro 13 inch fried in a water spill in 2016, I switch to a 13 inch XPS. It *felt* like I was cheating, cause suddenly I had access to all this extra stuff for way less money. But I used my MacBook for music production, on Pro Tools, and I guess I didn't account for the fact that Pro Tools just seems to run better on a MacBook. The real issue is that my XPS has died many a death. I don't know if they shipped a faulty unit to me, but out of the box it never updated properly, it had to be factory reset many times, I can't run it at the full UHD setting cause so many professional apps balk and shrink or wrap weirdly (yeah I know, a Windows 10 issue, but weird that there's no universal solution yet after three years), and eventually the video card gave up (or something) and I had to send it back for repairs from Dell (it came back missing three screws, so the chassis is just separating constantly). Two days ago, the sound driver gave up, I don't know why and I am so TIRED. You might say that I shouldn't be using a 13 inch laptop for Pro Tools because I'll run it into the ground, but I had my MacBook for three years and it was fine. This thing has *always* had issues.
Nicky Hart when you buying laptops. If they are both made in the same year and same generation intel, then the i5 and i7 is practically the same thing. Same architecture, only diff is the i7 will run a tiny bit faster initially. In your case however big difference because the i5 is quad core and better
I agree, if you are can bear with windows, it's a way cheaper choice, BUT (it's a big one), you need to consider resale value. In 4 years that $1800 MBP will be a steal at $600+ but who buys a 4 year old used windows laptop? windows laptop strongest point is their price, I feel buying a $1300 windows laptop defeats that. Ironically
Re-sale value is something to consider, but many Windows laptops allow you to upgrade your RAM/SSD. So you could prolong your laptop's life quite a bit if you needed to.
I sold my 4yr old win machine which i bought for $1200 for $400. So I lose $800 after 4 year. Because its specs is as good as a 2 yr old macbook If you sell ur $1800 macbook for $600 then you lose $1200. Big difference. Also it is not worth it to pay too much for old machines, there are many issues especially battery. Only a sucker would spend $600+ on something with 4 year old battery So buying a cheaper dell (with equal build quality) leads to easier resale at cheaper price Macbook always lag behind and they always design it so that it just have “enough” power. Not future proof
samiebuka The strongest points are price? You know you can go on any website and configure a $6000-$12,000 windows laptop right? It's strongest point is offering far better specs at the same or lower price.
Actually the Macbooks i5 8259U cpu is better than the Dell XPS 13s i7 8550U, and the 4K touchscreen could seem to be a huge improvement, but not really; less battery life and (in my opinion) touchscreen is useless. So for me there's no point on saying that the Dell XPS 13 has much more value than the Macbook. Good vid tho!
OS optimizations make up for the "little performance" (who knew a 4 core i7 / 6 core i9 / 18 core xeon processors are considered little performance). For example final cut blows adobe premier and other tools on windows out of the water in terms of export times etc. Despite Macs having relatively small batteries they actually get the 10 hours they claim vs on Windows where laptops have massive batteries and get terrible battery life. The same idea of optimization is why iOS runs so smooth and has such great battery life despite having HALF the size battery of comparable android phones. -iOS and Android developer
In the creative industry Mac’s are the most used products because Apple has a history of supporting creators (adobe tends to be more optimise in Mac’s ) MacBooks also have high resale value and can usually be sold 70% of its original price even after years
makasete30 I'm referencing to his previous harsh review on the new 15" model. He was contacted by Apple afterwards. Ever since then his views on the new MacBook Pro did a 180. Further more it's a joke so take the stick out your ass.
Great video Dave! Would have loved to hear more about the GPU though as it’s not a dedicated one. Anyway, as for my personal setup, I think I’ll soon sell my 2016 15” MBP to buy this new 13” because I find my 15” way too big and heavy for my needs (I have a monitor at home btw to plug my laptop in). With this upgrade, I’ll have the same CPU power as in my current MBP in a much smaller chassis!
Hajji Daoud he didn't speak about the other problems(kernel panic) which the new Mac books are facing...and this was the third video about the new Mac books and he also mentioned in a previous video that apple contacted him..
At the end after watching all 100+ videos on youtube, a lot of post in reddit, articles, and some research of future technology, my idea is this: **MBP 2018**: we all know what are the limitation (for pro users), and the great improvement **MBP 2019**: i don't think there will be a 8 core version, there will be no (always my opinion after comparing the actual info that we have) Apple CPU, no TBT4 or USB4 or PCIe5, SSD improvement will be not so high (and 2018 SSD are really good), and for sure no 64GB RAM. I think they will not change the design too (only in 2020/2021 with tbt4 and apple cpu, if apple cpu news is true), and even if they make it a bit bigger, maybe the problem is not fixed 100%. th-cam.com/video/A56iNeGGZDk/w-d-xo.html for example 4.44 is bigger, but not enough. Maybe they change display quality, 9gen cpu, gpu, or maybe not. Maybe they simply remove i9 in 2019, by using only i7 processor... We don't know **MBP2020/21** i think we will see great improvement and this is macworld idea too We could wait, but i don't really think this will improve the mac. Obviously if you own a mbp 2017 you can wait (if you don't want to spend other money), but for 2012/2013 owners is good to upgrade (or you can wait, and hope that what i wrote is wrong). So in my opinion outside not max performance, the performance improvement is there and we should buy it.
He only recommended it if you don't want Windows, and he recommended a cheaper model over a more expensive model. How does that look like he was paid? Also people review Apple products because it gets views.
JayJapanB yeah but a few days ago almost every tech TH-camr was talking shit about the MacBook pro and today they all changed their opinions for some reason
The reason everyone was talking shit about the MacBook Pro was because, at launch, it had horrible performance and thermals. However, it was discovered that the cause of the bad performance was a software glitch, and Apple has put out a patch for it, which stabilizes and increases the performance of the laptop by like 30 - 40%.
Dave: the previous generation 13” supported TB3 on all four USB-C ports, but previously the two right hand ports only supported two lanes. This year, they are all four lanes.
If you need a MacBook, the 13" is waaay more powerful this year than it has been in the past. It might fit the bill if you don't need a bigger screen. Thanks for watching!
Would you recommend 15" 2017 or 2018 13" ?
Dave Lee , how are the thermals on the 13 inch mac book? And is gaming supported?
Dave Lee Thats just prove "bigger is not always better" ;))))
Dave Lee XPS is much cheaper. But I won't risk coil whine.
Apple's product are for a life time 👑... give windows product a couple of years and they are dead or dying...

After months of watching ur vids i purchased the 2018 13" touchbar mac and its been amazing. Thanks for the help Dave! Keep it up. I love ur vids. :))
I didn’t need the power but why not get more and be able to keep it longer.
i for one think its cool to have such a high performace machine in so small a package as the 13. i like it better. not because its cheaper
Dave Lee, only spitting the non-bias TRUTH!!👍
Just wanted to say you are doing an excellent job, providing knowledge to us consumers! Love the detailed videos!
do you see the moon?
Adam's Tricks No. :(
Yep it was awesome
Adam's Tricks cloudy
Yup
Yeah its round
Those dope graphics got me to subscribe. Also Dave Lee is pretty straight forward and I appreciate that.
just purchased the 13inch pro with tb got it for 1699 its perfect for my needs I love it .if you want ford built buy the other one lol
awesome editing/animation/filming job it did show quite a lot on this one! really artsy, congrats!
J Cheng I agree. All my window laptops have all slowed down after about a year or so
@@brucel6413 Yeah, I need to do a brand new windows reinstall every 24 months... it's kinda annoying but its the only way to keep everything running smoothly.
Same only my battery went bad
Same my 2015 MacBook Pro is still running strong
I've been wanting to upgrade my 2013 13" Macbook Air for a few years now and if only Apple had spec bumped the non-touch bar version, I would have bought it. Now I have to wait another year or at least until September to see what happens.
*All macbooks that doesn’t comes with a dedicated graphics should comes with a vega graphics*
Mhel Mabayo
Low voltage Kaby Lake-G or just AMD APU. Unacceptable when we pay that much for Intel igp
It use iris 655 graphics, it still good
Kevin Gaming Intel iGPUs suck. At least a majority of PC Laptops over a grand have dGPUs.
Most laptop with GPUs are heavy
Kevin Gaming The difference is maybe a half pound to a pound at the most. Sure the ones that really need power are going to have a bigger battery, but the XPS and other smaller laptops are still extremely light.
i just appreciate the fact that Dave is not biased and just delivers honest reviews .thanks!
Dave, please do a review of MSI GF63 once it's out. Thanks!
I just found out about you on unbox therapy and you have such good contents. Keep up the good work man! New subscriber here!
why don't you guys talk about some of the issues with this device? like the pink static screen when you wake your laptop after hours of sleep? or the fact that you can't use a third party usb c hub and wifi at the same time because it interferes with the wifi connection or how laggy some animations are especially in iTunes and when resizing a window? when you review please do so thoroughly to keep your viewers well informed before we make a decision to buy these devices
Dave the don... loving all ur videos since yrs bruh..so honest n genuine 😘..I'm wondering why u r still on that 1.4M subscriber range, u should be on top with a count of 6M at least. Hope u'll hit that soon somehow.. good luck bruh..lov ya😍
Final Cut Pro on Mac is way faster than Premiere. If you're using a Mac, at least try it out, Dave.
Yeah and then you just pay $499 once. Premier you have to pay per month I think
REAL AMAZING WORLD 299.99 actually
Pay per month? lol torrent it from pirate bay and you'll get a free lifetime usage of Premier
Thanks Dave this video is very helpful. I have been looking at the xps and macbook for school for a while now and this video really helped my contrast them both. GJ on the great content.
But the base 2018 13 macbook pro is more expensive than the 2017 macbook pro when it released.
Dig The New Three Dimensional Visuals Dave! Keep Up The Great Work!
When has ever Apple Inc cared for creating VALUE for customers?
good one
a long time ago
Steve jobs is the one that released the 999 Apple Lisa and got him fired.
Really like your laptop reviews, no bias.
Always telling the pros and cons, and comparing old model to the latest one.
And i like your straight forward suggestion to other things to buy with same specs and performance with cheaper price.
Thumbs Up, keep up the good work!!! 😉👍
Is it really worth to buy MacBook in 2018?
damn man, your video quality has always been top notch (which was initially what i liked about this channel), but now you are reviewing with edited footage looks so seamless. All Hail the Lord Dave Lee !!!
Finally! I can now buy the 13' MacBook pro. Thanks Dave! All these other youtubers just talking bout thermothrottling...I really wanted someone to review the 13' inch for me to consider buying. Thanks again
stanley gitau Its probably fixed too. The fan needs to work, but Apple doesnwant it to be loud even though it doesnt make any sense.
Like to see a performance compare ? With external GPU
13” 2018 MacBook is similar than 15” 2017
Me 2
Performance comparison with macbook and any other brand laptop...that be interesting
Great cut! Everything clean simple. I miss the benchmark comparison between 15 vs 13, but other than that great work! I like the no-touchbar bit!
Does it require a freezer?
No but it comes with built in heater and blower which will warm your room/office by several degrees when it tries to keep the device 'cool'.
Spoiler alert: The thermal solution is so weak that it won't be able to heart up anything larger than a closet
The video was so well put together with the animations and editing. It's very simple and gives you aa simple answer. Many thanks.
at first..... "oh just another apple greatness talk."
at the end....... "window advertising"
with the same amount of money, u will always get better performance with non apple products
I really liked this part of the video
Also let me mention that if you buy a non-apple hardware, but also install Linux to it (XFCE), then you can have Apple performance on your non-apple device.
I am using Arch Linux with heavily themed XFCE DE and I have no reason to switch to Apple. Everything I use is available on Linux. Just have to use Windows VM for some very specific apps needed for college, which are not available for MacOS anyway.
Erikas Rudinskas my msi laptop is 20x faster than pos apple.
Brilliant! Planning to switch from 15inch Macbook Pro (2015) to 13inch 2018, primarily because of size
2.099€ to get that laptop in Europe is too much...
then don't get it! I know I won't :) #votewithyourwallet
Dave I dont know why but your voice is so relaxing. Have you always spoken so clearly or is that come just with time on youtube?
Do you guys prefer a 15" screen or a 13" screen, and why?
Thanks for this video! You confirmed my decision to buy this MacBook 2 days ago, loving it so far!!
What are those two lights in the background?
also wondering this
Very neat video pleasing to watch. Really love the effort you put in to make these videos.
I am planning to buy a dell exp 13
nobody cares about your dell purchase
Nubudy cares about ur mum
CopyTv got em
Planning to buy an xps 15 (gtg 1050ti) for black Friday.
XPS' are the best!
nice, short, concise and honest video! Thanks !
I'm kinda tired of the whole MacBook Pro saga. Can't wait for Dave to go back to reviewing good laptops again for a change.
Dave is currently my favorite tech youtuber. Such clean professional looking videos.
Wallpaper ?
Also wondering the same

BOBlibob thanks
BOBlibob thank you !
Damn Dave, your video are super informative and non bias. Love it !!!
I think you should do that. It makes a lot more sense.
Try to look for a hackintosh i guess? if you really are looking for the longetivity of a hardware
13" gang
Mistaah Trouble "That's what she said." 😁
Awesome video! Just got mine yesterday! :)
Which one is better? Non touchbar with i7 or touchbar version with i5 because they have the same price
Nicky Hart The touchbar i5, because it's a quad core machine.
Nicky Hart prob the non Touch Bar. You probably won’t even need the quad core, unless you edit video etc
Kim Jong-un Like he said, they’re the same price. I’d go for the quad core.
AbuBakr Akram ok then it’s a no brainer. I was looking at the prices recently and the non touch with 512GB and 8g ram was cheaper
Nicky Hart when you buying laptops. If they are both made in the same year and same generation intel, then the i5 and i7 is practically the same thing. Same architecture, only diff is the i7 will run a tiny bit faster initially. In your case however big difference because the i5 is quad core and better
Your reviews are really goooddd. Thanks man
I agree, if you are can bear with windows, it's a way cheaper choice, BUT (it's a big one), you need to consider resale value.
Because its specs is as good as a 2 yr old macbook
If you sell ur $1800 macbook for $600 then you lose $1200. Big difference.
Also it is not worth it to pay too much for old machines, there are many issues especially battery. Only a sucker would spend $600+ on something with 4 year old battery
So buying a cheaper dell (with equal build quality) leads to easier resale at cheaper price
Macbook always lag behind and they always design it so that it just have “enough” power. Not future proof
Most ultrabooks are locked down unfortunately.
samiebuka
The strongest points are price? You know you can go on any website and configure a $6000-$12,000 windows laptop right? It's strongest point is offering far better specs at the same or lower price.
Exactly, that is why windows pc make a lousy investment. Anyone can upgrade them. So why buy second hand?
I love your channel Dave! I’m happy you’re getting more recognition these days ❤️
Umm, the touch bar is better than a touch 4k screen? How?
silver flash He never said that. Yet thus whole touchbar thing is a gimmick
I really love your content, buddy!!! Well done!
I will never understand people who buy a Macbook Pro. To much money for so little perfomance. You get even an Ryzen 8 core in a Laptop for less.
Some people enjoy getting ripped off for the sake of owning a fruity product
Umm, iOS developers?
OS optimizations make up for the "little performance" (who knew a 4 core i7 / 6 core i9 / 18 core xeon processors are considered little performance). For example final cut blows adobe premier and other tools on windows out of the water in terms of export times etc. Despite Macs having relatively small batteries they actually get the 10 hours they claim vs on Windows where laptops have massive batteries and get terrible battery life.
The same idea of optimization is why iOS runs so smooth and has such great battery life despite having HALF the size battery of comparable android phones.
-iOS and Android developer
In the creative industry Mac’s are the most used products because Apple has a history of supporting creators (adobe tends to be more optimise in Mac’s ) MacBooks also have high resale value and can usually be sold 70% of its original price even after years
I develop for iOS and therefore because you know Apple...I need xcode therefore I need a Mac.
Thanks for honest reviews!
Apple goons are standing behind the camera..lol
Then Apple hating goons must have been in front of the camera in previous ones according to your logic.
makasete30 I'm referencing to his previous harsh review on the new 15" model. He was contacted by Apple afterwards. Ever since then his views on the new MacBook Pro did a 180. Further more it's a joke so take the stick out your ass.
Jokes are supposed to be funny. You fail on so many levels.
Ztormie I guess you and the other guy are sharing the same stick.
This is a 13” model dumbass.
This does not seem to have that shitty throttling that the 15” have.
Think before you comment
I really dig the animations of the specs dude keep it up 😎
Overheatbook pro
Throttlebook Con
Great video Dave! Would have loved to hear more about the GPU though as it’s not a dedicated one.
Anyway, as for my personal setup, I think I’ll soon sell my 2016 15” MBP to buy this new 13” because I find my 15” way too big and heavy for my needs (I have a monitor at home btw to plug my laptop in). With this upgrade, I’ll have the same CPU power as in my current MBP in a much smaller chassis!
I'm sorry...but were you sponsored by apple?
do you really need to ask? ;)
detzey not really...but I like his videos because I thought none of them were sponsored..I hope this isn't sponsored even though it looks that way...
He literally recommended a windows laptop and you are asking if he sponsored by Apple.
Hajji Daoud he didn't speak about the other problems(kernel panic) which the new Mac books are facing...and this was the third video about the new Mac books and he also mentioned in a previous video that apple contacted him..
Yo Dave, help Johnathan with his reviews and facts.... Killing it bro. I just watched you and Marques. Best tech guys.
The lord has said !
GOtta say the production quality is outstanding!!
At the end after watching all 100+ videos on youtube, a lot of post in reddit, articles, and some research of future technology, my idea is this:
**MBP 2018**: we all know what are the limitation (for pro users), and the great improvement
**MBP 2019**: i don't think there will be a 8 core version, there will be no (always my opinion after comparing the actual info that we have) Apple CPU, no TBT4 or USB4 or PCIe5, SSD improvement will be not so high (and 2018 SSD are really good), and for sure no 64GB RAM. We don't know
**MBP2020/21** i think we will see great improvement and this is macworld idea too
We could wait, but i don't really think this will improve the mac. Obviously if you own a mbp 2017 you can wait (if you don't want to spend other money), but for 2012/2013 owners is good to upgrade (or you can wait, and hope that what i wrote is wrong).
So in my opinion outside not max performance, the performance improvement is there and we should buy it.
Thank you for this thorough analysis
but what about someone who wants to switch from windows to mac
is it the right time to do it?
This video has great production value!
Can u play fortnite on it?
Your videos are awesome. Great work, keep it coming!
So you also got paid by apple , I didn't expect that from you Dave Lee
He only recommended it if you don't want Windows, and he recommended a cheaper model over a more expensive model. How does that look like he was paid? Also people review Apple products because it gets views.
JayJapanB yeah but a few days ago almost every tech TH-camr was talking shit about the MacBook pro and today they all changed their opinions for some reason
Relax just be more tea facepalm 🤦♂️
Hey it's apple for pro it still best
Mac os
Rendering
Bootcamp
Window just can't stand a chance
The reason everyone was talking shit about the MacBook Pro was because, at launch, it had horrible performance and thermals. However, it was discovered that the cause of the bad performance was a software glitch, and Apple has put out a patch for it, which stabilizes and increases the performance of the laptop by like 30 - 40%.
Dave: the previous generation 13” supported TB3 on all four USB-C ports, but previously the two right hand ports only supported two lanes. This year, they are all four lanes.
how come this guy only has 1.6M subs.. i mean he's better than I Justine(dunno how she's still alive) and that unbox therapy(fat) guy combined..
iJustine is a grill, she will always have people watching that face
I just saw your collaboration with unbox therapy; I just want to say thanks for bringing Apple down to earth. Good job Mr. Dave.
