Can you upload the violin version? I'd love to hear that, in fact I ended up here looking for an all violin version. Your violin parts are amazing, the fidelity of every single note as it should be is perfect. I feel the guitar's volume could have gone a little bit lower to rescue all the detail in those violin riffs, which without exaggerating, I would even switch the original track's violins for these...

Very impressive, although sound-balance was a bit off in select areas, I feel. A few times when the guitar was on stage, the violins were playing a bit loud. Considering they weren't the focus, they shouldn't be on the same audible level as the guitar. This is only really a noticeable issue with the part at 0:17-0:25 and especially with 1:07-2:01, which in the original was sorta this spotlight moment for the guitar in the composition, now sharing the same audio-level with the largely backing violin.
Thank for the constructive criticism! Being a violinist I'm a bit biased towards the strings, especially given how in almost every live performance they get overpowered by the drums and guitars, so it's kinda easy to overcompensate :D

This is also why I appreciate and make a deal out of audio-balance, because with such a crass and tactless instrument, the first thing a trumpeteer had to learn in a junior orchestra was to restrain one's volume, so as to not utterly trample the rest of the players. But I can understand wanting to make your preferred instrument stand out. When finding my way to a junior big band, there was a certain rivalry between trumpets and saxophones, as the 2 would take lead most often. Even to this day, if you'd ask me of favorite Jazz artists, my mind instinctively jumps to Miles Davis before Charlie Parker.
The overall mix feels very muddy and quiet to me. Perhaps run it through some post-processing next time? I recommend using compression, tape saturation, eq tweaks, a touch of stereo widening or panning the elements around a bit more. Lots can be done to bring this mix out, and your arrangement is awesome, so it deserves the best sound quality possible.
I've always found getting a nice level kinda tricky, I do try to use compression to do it, but often times I have to dial it back because I feel like the sound "chokes" unpleasantly at some spots. Need some more practice! Will experiment with tape saturation in the future. Thanks for the tips!
