They often did. Typically they'd be housed in a torpedo room. Once a couple of fish had been fired, they had room to convert torpedo racks into extra bunk space. A while since I read "Thunder Below" written by Fluckey, but pretty sure they grabbed a dude from a small ship they sank in the Sea of Okhotsk during this patrol.
@@WithTwoFlakes Right, makes sense. They'd be a security risk, with a language barrier.
The blatant errors are getting worse. If a written report this would get a C because of it.
UDT/SEALS has its roots and heritage in UDT training at Fort Pierce training and S and R training in Little Creek. Independently sending in raiders and setting charge to train track is SEALS stuff. USS Barb was involved in S and R operation as part of Operation Torch. Just don't hear much about their exploits.
Great video but having a nickname of "swish" has a different meaning in today's navy!
Stop calling people by their last names. Call them by their first names.
“Lieutenant Colonel Flucky”?
Well, it wasn't sent to do that. More of a target of opportunity.
wow they had m16s back in 45 !!!
They made videos just like this in 1944. Heroes and stuff. For the moral of US. Why today, idk
Turned me right off to see AR15s in a video about WWII. Later, maybe.
Lieutenant Colonel ???? In the Navy? B movie scenes and VERY sloppy voice over. Guess it’s time to move on
Don't let the door hit you in the axx on the way out😅
You must be a blast at parties.
A presumed German Tanker?
8:47 Lieutenant colonel is not a Navy rank. At 1:45 and 3:28 you shoe men wearing
commander uniforms and call them lieutenant commanders
Those were American trains, carring M2 American tanks...
👏👏👏
Damn!
Flucky = fuking lucky!😅
Too bad they didn't have M16's in WWII. Come on, Seriously?
Hey, let’s ask time travelers to film this mission! That way, we can all be sure that everything goes according to plan. Fingers crossed that they can make it!
I'm sorry... I unsubscribed from this guy because of the terrible errors. After watching the first few minutes of this one which just popped into my feed, I'm sure I did the right thing.
Wait! Maybe we can help this guy!! We should ask time travelers to film the mission! That way, no errors: happy people
Its jag offs like you that make the internet no fun. Your life must be absolute misery.
Sometimes you just have to make changes in life. Me for example I stopped going to your mom's house.
“Gah-tow” or “Gay-tow” class?
If you want more fInd a copy of Thunder Below
*PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE*
It's GAY-toe not GAH-toe.
Ex submariner, and while I really like your content, your mis-pronunciations of Gato and Groton (Should be GRAW-ton not GROW-ton) drive me *CRAZY* !!!
Please try to pronounce them correctly.
0:05 1945? M16 rifles...You all are idiots! No one takes this channel seriously.
DAVENPORT IOWA DAD JOKE of the day (26 Jan 2025)
[Q] what do ,fish in the ocean, use to get High?
[A] sea WEED
what is CREEPED.
Your spelling is DeCREEP-pid
Parts of this is as bad as videos about the European theater in 1944-45 showing German tanks rolling into Poland in 1939. Or maybe they did have sets of Marine camo and infantry kit on submarines. And Armalite M-16 rifles. And had time while in Japan to change from camos into ODs and back into camos, along with washing their faces and then reapplying shoe polish. And parts of that night in Japan are very bright. These may be trivial points to some, but to others they are very annoying.
