Bending the Arc: Land and Food Justice in Virginia

The legacies of harm in agriculture and land ownership in Virginia are deep but, for many, are still invisible. This panel will offer insight into some of these injustices and two efforts to address them in Virginia. The panel will examine an unusual statewide effort to pass legislation to address the massive land loss among African Americans in the 20th century. Panelists will also explore collaborative efforts to enhance access for farmers of color to larger institutional markets such as UVA.
