I'm white, I was like 40, living in the suburbs, when Bernie Mac's show started. To say I loved that show doesn't do it justice. I had a special song and a special dance for the day his show was on, "Bernie Mac Day!" My husband was a very funny guy who loved black music, but he thought that I was coo-coo. I hadn't smoked pot since high school, but while I was watching Bernie Mac's show, it seemed like time slowed down. The show would end, and I would ask myself "Did they change it to a one hour format"? Then I would see that only a 1/2 an hour had passed. It was the strangest thing, and it would happen every week. I don't know what it was. I've never met anybody who liked The Bernie Mac show as much as I did (I'm sure they are out there), so I have never been able to ask if anyone had the same experience. I guess it was just so absorbing, like a flow situation, but it has never happened with any other show, no matter how funny. Did this happen to anyone else out there in youtube land?

I always thought this set was a masterclass in repetition. The way he used the hooks after every joke alongside the music was amazing. Having just found out it was because comedians before him were booed off stage makes it even more amazing! The way he took control of the crowd and had them eating out of his hands proves how unbelievably talented this guy was. RIP Bernie!
