I just bought the SVT 450 head and the 610 cabinet. It's a killer rig, I also use a Digitech BP200 for effects. Before I got rid of my Peavey Nitrobass 450 and my 2-10 and 1-15 stack, I did a side by side comparison and the Ampeg is the Truth.
Hi, I appreciate the excellent video. I have what I think is an ampeg classic, the SVT400T, but so far I haven't been able to find a valid opinion on how to properly connect this head in mono-bridge mode to a 500w speaker at 8 Ohms? The manual says I should use the two red outputs on the back of the head, but should I use two audio cables for each one, and connect both ends of those same cables to the two inputs on the cabinet at the same time?
I use the SVT15E with a SVT210HE sitting on top. I power these with a Trace Elliot GP7SM300. All are from the 1990s. It sounds phenomenal. I want to get an SVTCL300 Tube amp. That is massive and heavy(SVTCL) but it is on my bucket list.
Nice one :) . When I've got some extra cash I'm looking at getting a 1x12 (was eyeing up the AE112) and one of the GB Shuttles. Sadly don't have the resources or requirement for the SVT/810 combination all the time :p
Net sure is a small world!!! ;-) Ya, the SVTII is a beast... & the Bergantino cabs are just as good IMO. LOVE running the SVTII>NV610 with the VT-Bass pedal in there for when I can't run the SVTII at OD levels. I mean the VT-BASS pedal sounds good with most cabs/amps, but IMO when used with a TUBE ampeg it's a whole 'nother dimension!
@WillSpengler Yeah I find I'm using my Berg AE112 heaps. The Mark Bass LMII>Tech 21 VT Bass pedal > Berg AE112 n\makes a superb li'l rig, I get SO manycomments about the sound when using this combination. Ppl cannot believe that huge vintage tone comes outta that li'l box & amp!! BUT in saying that- it simply cant beat the SVTII>NV610 for sheer power, punch etc.. USing my EB MM Stingray 4 with that the other nite, sounded like a machine gun when Iplayed fast stuff!!! AMAZING!!!
Why does anyone not talk about and include the SVT-806HE classic series 8X6 Cabinet ? Can't find information on them and they're great cabinets but no info. on them.
Can't wait to get my hand's on this bass Head,i used to have a 69 stv (no bull) but it got ripped off from a jam space i was at....BASTERDS...Best bass amp i ever owned...punchie as ball's..lol
the reason the other speaker moves is the first one, when you push it in, produces a voltage that the other speaker sees.....that statement is only correct if the speaker wires are disconnected!!
Bergs are great Cabs!!! Busterd!!! I DO like my Aguilar GS112 tho & altho I just got a Berg AE112, so far, I'm liking the GS112 better. Warmer.... Maybe coz I'm used to it... The BErg AE112 craps on it as far as volume tho!!! IF I grow to love the AE112 I'll grab another for a 2x 112 stack!!! Sell off the GS112.
I did check out the new GV series guitar amps using a new Les Paul Standard. Meh. The Les Paul Standard was good. The Ampegs aren't anything like my VT-40, my VT-22, or my V-2's, sorry. They tried to reinvent the wheel with these new guitar amps.
so does the 419HLF if U put some serious power into it. MY SVTII will fart IT out at 4-5 on the master!! Bought a Bergantino NV610- SUPERB & NO farting at ANY level!!!
Speaking of looks, mine used to look better before all those inserts on the control knobs fell out.....unlike my forty something v4b which still has all of them.....making that look better should cost a couple bucks and postage but ampeg wants to sell me six new knobs at fifteen bucks a pop.....qc much ....why would anyone want to repair a minor cosmetic problem that ampeg could have avoided with half decent quality control by replacing knobs that work properly?....stamped baskets save money and weight, and add nothing other than distortion....ampeg needs to pay more attention to the guys who buy them ...without the endorser discounts....There's a reason old svts hold their value....they were better built and built to last.....now you have to pay for a heritage to get a tad closer to the quality they used to have ....ive had a few ampegs, but i'd never buy another new one
Great to see you talking with great knowledge and passion about Ampeg cabs. I use a 410 Hl
I got a Traynor YBA200 a while ago too,- it's taking a lot of the Ampeg's gigs!!! Lighter, plenty of power & sounds great!

When running an HLF 4, do you keep the ohms switch @4 ohms or switch to 8ohms ?

check out my band's bass recording video for our new full length album.
we used an Ampeg SVT2 PRO through a svt classic 8x10 and an ampeg 1x15

I found one and snatched it up and it's great for the size...sounds like a mini 810. Even with a 5 string. Powering with the subway d800+
La basse c'est pour la déco ?
Play em!

I GOT ONE OF THESE HEADS AND A 4x10.... cost me a FORTUNE.... worked for 10 MINUTES fml
the reason the other speaker moves is the first one, when you push it in, produces a voltage that the other speaker sees.....that statement is only correct if the speaker wires are disconnected!!

The bass in the intro sounds realy dry and punchy. I must have replayed the intro 50 times
