- The year is 1984, Shashi Kapoor comes to Vancouver with actress Nutan for a concert in Vancouver. In this interview with host Shushma he talks very freely about his impression of Vancouver and his desire to come back to Vancouver to make a film. This interview was recorded just before he was flying to England to finish his film "Utsav" in English and Hindi.He also talks about his kids and their future.
The most complete star in my opinion. He had the looks, good humour, passion towards his art and a noticeable humility. All time favourite!

This is also what i used to think - that he was the most under rated actor, & this despite the fact that he was not only the most handsome but also a very sensitive, eloquent & emotive actor. Mayb people got a complex from him.

Sadly this was the last year he was handsome, his wife died just 1 month after this interview and Shashi went to great depression for a whole year, he put on so much weight and became old. if you see his movies from 1986 onwards, he is obese and old

Because he loved his wife very much, both of them met when they were teenagers and he got married only at the age of 18 to her. His wife his first and last love, when she died, he went in to severe depression for a whole year, there are stories he use to cry beside the sea in Mumbai everyday for a year after her death, Just one year after this interview he looked like a very old and obese man@@user-zm1ln1ig5v

Shashi ji was so simple, humble; his face, his eyes, his voice are so clear, totally devoid of any ego, attitude, so honest and free of chaos or drama.
The most intellectual of all Kapoors, also the most international. He acted in a number of British productions, and was closely associated with the Kendalls in their theatre productions. Also he produced some really interesting and meaningful films such as Junoon, 36 Chowringhee Lane, Kalyug, and Utsav. He once said in an interview that he acted in commercial films so that he could earn enough money to produce serious films. He was very different from the rest of the Kapoors. In fact, he was much like Prithviraj Kapoor in his love for the theatre. He was not loud and boisterous like the other Kapoors. He was introspective, soft-spoken and a well-read man. He had absolutely no arrogance and was always well-mannered. He was a disciple of serious cinema and admired Chaplin and Ingmar Bergman. If today anyone asks Kareena Kapoor about Ingmar Bergman, she will be like "Ingmar who?" I wish Kareena had inherited some of Shashi Kapoor's genes.

He was so cute. 🥰 When he breaks into a shy smile showing his adorably crooked teeth. Btw, Utsav failed at the Box Office but it is a beautiful film. Everyone must watch it. Kapoor and Girish Karnad did a huge service to our cultural heritage and came up with a brilliant comedy.

USA and Canada... Latin America and so on ... it's so popular.... so I guess the wanted to reach the wide audience...
What I really don't understand is the modern day obsession with vulgarity and sex ....
I remember as a kid we used to go the movie houses with the whole my family including my grandma, my mother and all my nieces and siblings ..... it was a family outing after movie we go to the sweet shops for a cake and a drink..... we never read reviews it was almost always safe for a family viewing ....

OH, WHAT A MAN! But what a tragedy stuck him later that year when he lost wife Jennifer Kendall to cancer. He was left totally shattered and he never fully recovered from the shock. It's so heart melting to hear him talk about his marriage sooooo romantically. His soul must have reunited with his soulmate of many births.

That aura, that presence and the sheer gravitas of the actor -par-supreme even beat Amitabh Bachhan's performance. The most humble, educated, hospitable and big-hearted of the Kapoor Bros., Shashi ji was an institution in himself. India lost a son when he passed away. His memories will stay with us forever.
