A more 'detail' nitpick i have which u also point out, but i think goes deeper and shows a complete misunderstanding of s1 Viktor's motivation by the damn writers thenselves: Jayce telling Viktor "youve always wanted to cure what you thought were imperfections: your leg, your disease" made me livid. he was DYING, jayce. he had the arcane version of stage 10 lung cancer. thats not an imperfection, thats a death sentence. comparing a deadly disease to a physical disability is just... insane to me. and remember; Jayce in s1 did everything he could to save Viktor. he banished heimerdinger, his MENTOR from the council just so they could keep trying to save Viktor. who, again, was actively dying ("i can feel my body... eroding" is more than just an imperfection, yall. fuck im so mad lmao) season 1 Viktor was never motivated by such shallow desires as getting rid of imperfections, and the writers trying to retcon that made me so annoyed. season 1 viktor wanted to help, he wanted to save the people in need. it was only after he fused with the hexcore that this got changed into 'save them /by perfecting them/". nothing, and i mean nothing in season 1 implies viktor hates his imperfections to the point of wanting to get rid of "all imperfections". he wanted to stay alive, because he wanted to have the chance to help people ("i suppose your legacy is well secured" talk with Heimer, where Viktor laments that he didnt get to do anything Good in his life, "Scientists seek discoveries, ways to make the world a better place" showing that his motive was helping the world) the trope of 'this disabled character is evil, cause they want to get rid of their disability. theyre good as they are' is a trope so focused on abled people it drives me up the wall. yes, a disabled person does not need to be able bodied to be worthy of life, and to be perfect; thats true! but villainising the desire disabled people have to be treated as equal, to pretend like its THEIR ableism, instead of that of the surrounding world which makes them be critical of their disability, is vile. also, lets not forget that Viktor's illness is a direct result of the oppression of Zaun by Piltover. i get the message was intended to be 'your perfect even if you think your not. your disability doesnt make you any less perfect', but in the same breath acting as if Viktor was only ever motivated by his desire to overcome imperfections, instead of motivated by his desire to help, and desire to keep on living SO HE COULD HELP, is just horrible. i almost wanna call it mean. Sadly, this scene of course didnt happen in a vacuum; its a result of the writers completely misunderstanding and butchering Viktor as a character. he never wanted 'no imperfections', he never wanted a hivemind, he (arcane Viktor) never wanted to get rid of emotions nor saw them as bad (he was actually such an expressive character in season 1; his character motivations are driven by 1) anger against the council and how their hextech is used, 2) anger at how piltover mistreats zaun and how it denies him the possibility of helping zaun, and 3) regret and fear of the hexcore). In season 2 he has /no/ emotional arc. none. its insulting. making one of the only actively pro-zaun champtions/characters the big bad (and yet another zaunite who "goes too far in their desire to help oppressed people", a trope which white liberals/centrists seem to love) the Big Bad Evil is bad and disrespectfull writing and i hate them for it
you're so right. Viktor died at the end of S1 and was replaced by the writers' puppet. They turned an empathetic scientist into Jim Jones to use him as a cop out big bad. wtaf. I could forgive this if the writers showed that he was being corrupted by the arcane, but they implied he was acting of his own volition. The "haha your cancer makes you beautiful queen" speech from Jayce was disgusting. very strange and ableist writing for viktor (and jinx) :/
Hahahah I saw a screenshot of this comment posted on the ViktorMains subreddit a week ago! I thought you copy pasted it from someone but I went back to check and it was your comment from somewhere else :P (Edit to actually respond to the comment: I was SOOO glad to see this comment because finally someone else noticed how in s2 Viktor is just a completely different person who has very little left of his own personality.)
@tamarbaas lmaooo yeah that was my comment! i thought it fit with was Deadave said this video so i went back to that vid to copy-paste my own comment lol but yeah; s2 viktor and s1 viktor are such different entitities (literally....) it makes me fume. did they not rewatch season 1 or what?? they just turned him into whatever the plot needed him to be in an act (healer in act2 for vander/the girls, eugenics god in act3 for the Big Finale)
I agree with pretty much everything said but where Ekko stands makes sense. He doesn’t like silco cause he is hurting Zaun more then helping. The man is selling drugs to his own ppl causing people to become feens and crack addicts and corrupting the undercirty as many ppl say in season 1. Like if he had a plan to actually achieve justice for Zaun in a way that doesn’t harm it n didn’t kill his dad (or whatever tf benzo was to him) and friends and take his childhood bestie and assisted in turning her into a psycho who kinda hates herself maaaybe he wouldn’t hate him as much
damn, you practically touched on everything i hated about this season, specifically in relation to caitvi, jinx and viktor. so much stuff that doesn’t make sense that everyone completely overlooks. or they make their own fanfiction to explain away shit, except they’re genuinely serious and believe their completely made up details are canon. it’s really disappointing but refreshing to see someone who actually had “huh??” reactions to this in real time cause i feel kinda insane seeing all these reactors having the same positive takes on the season.
Not the Sevika segment lasting as long as the screen time she had on act 3 xD Also, it was not stated directly if the Undercity was independent or not, but my interpretation is that they are or must be close to it, since everyone in season 2 refers to it as "Zaun" or "Zaunites", even people in Piltover recognizes them as such during the season, which they didnt before.
I disagree about Mel not actually liking Jayce. If you look at her micro expressions from ep 2 and especially episodes 4-6 of season 2, you can see that she likes him. I mean, if she saw Jayce as an 'investment', then why after the hookup the expression on her face after waking up to an empty bed, was sadness? She was visibly sad, when you are using somone or "investing" in them and they leave you in bed after sex, you would be annoyed and upset, NOT sad. Am I making sense? Also, there's more scenes and it reminds me of the assumption that Mel was using/manipulating Jayce which is a huge oversimplification thatnlacks nuance. In fact, she wasn't manipulating Jayce at all and I'm willing to explain why.
Well, he said in the video she didnt "loved" Jayce, not that she didnt "liked" him. Love is deeper and requires time, affection, comitment and others stuff. I think is easier to say Mel "loved" her mother, but maybe she didnt "liked" her, for example. Maybe Mel loved Jayce in their time together, but I dont think Arcane showed us a romantic story from them per se, their story was more about the responsabilities and actions they both have to take on their own, not really together, so I get what he is saying.
@raziel5835 From what we've seen, Mel loved and liked Jayce. She always suports him, giving him the reassurance and comfort he needs. And she literally saves his ass multiple times. She's vulnerable with him (she's vulnerable with no one, barely her Mom even). She keeps him morally sound, offering clarity when he's clouded by emotion, etc. I can go on and on and write a book about this. I honestly don't know how you guys don't see it. I mean, do you guys not know how an healthy, mostly problem free, relationship looks like?? I mean, for heavens sake, Mel offers Jayce great advice and sympathy when she found out he left her in bed because Viktor was dying. And let's not forget that they've known each other for almost a decade and have been together for months.
i did not really enjoy Mel as a character in s1. Like u said - she is an active part of an oppresive government, she is (canonically stated) the "richest person in all of Piltover", and that while half her city is starving. She's a politician and she is not concerned with Zaun - she is concerned with legacy and safety of "our people", with our = Piltovan. i believe Mel's trauma from her youth (her mother's reign through violence and death) culminated in Mel's politics being heavily conflict avoidant - to the point wherein, i believe, her decision of a free zaun came not from a desire to actually see zaun as independent, but more because she wanted to avoid the possible upcoming war ("you dont know war, Jayce - i do") - and how, if the writers continued the Zaun/Piltover conflict in season 2, it would have been so interesting for her to actually confront her mother (and not in a magical girl battle... Mel u deserved better than the Black Rose plot idc) and show her that being the fox is NOT a bad thing, instead of making her (supposedly) turn into the wolf. But also, like, have Ambessa confront Mel too, and have Ambessa point out that in Mel's desire to avoid direct conflict with the Undercity, her (and the fellow councilor's) decisions to suppress the Undercity only paved the way for more violence in the future and out of her sight ("you've always been a part of this; you just never had to look it in the eye before" type of convo with Mel would have been SO interesting. make her go through change and make her recognise that her avoidant politics still led through death and misery, but just outside of where she was directly confronted with it). Just... Mel's season 2 arc could have so easily started from what was build up in season 1 - her fully distancing herself from her mother, her voting for Zaun indepence but not out of care for them, her slowly learning to open up (to Jayce in s1) - and turned into this beautiful story of an aristocratic incredibly smart politician who has always wanted to live up to the "power is important" standard of the Medarda's (richest person in piltover while people r starving yall) who learns that letting go of power and directly adressing conflict can lead to more safety instead of less, and who learns that she can not only be vulnerable about her past but also about her present and her current fears (with Jayce, and if i had it my way also with Caitlyn as i think they are very cool mirrors in how they react to privelege and power and mothers). instead she got shoved to the side in a plot which is nigh impossible to follow/understand if you do not know any league lore and which, in the end, doesn't add anything to the over-arching plot of arcane except give Mel a reason to fight in the Big Finale Battle and which is only there to be a soft-pilot for Corporate Riot's next show. Mel deserved better and a plot that is more respectfull towards her as a character.
Very nice video! I agree with most of your points, but I think it ultimately comes down to them using class as a backdrop rather than a theme to explore deeply. I read that one of the writers, Amanda Overton, wanted Vi’s parents to die to make the relationship between Vi and Caitlyn more complex. Many of us were more invested in those themes than the writers seemed to be, which is why it feels lackluster. I think that’s their mistake, but it’s ultimately a narrative choice. Furthermore, the show never holds Piltover accountable for its crimes and always frames the Zaunites as villains who need to be controlled. The response to oppression has a very "both sides have a point" vibe. I love Arcane, but the political commentary feels like centrist nonsense.
season 1 being so good to get people attached so much that they glaze season 2 even tho its garbage and actually drags down s1, but the animation is incredible as always, so we have that at least
12:40 fucking THANK YOU. people who say s2e7 is the best episode truly only watch it for the vibes cause no tf its not. its a good episode in a vacuum but for the plot of the show? nope sorry. why would one dead zaunite kid suddenly reverse decades of conflict - post bridge riots, not to forget. we KNOW enforcers dont gaf about zaunite kids. "ohh but marcus was just a father" well this just-a-father-Marcus was chasing down and shooting at kids in season 1 episode 2. why is AU-Powder 100% normal and ok? so her predisposition to emotional outbursts was just bc our Powder is ~~craxy~~? okay sure. also also. why would i care for Ekko/Jinx?? AU Powder is NOT Jinx. not at all. season 1 did not build up Jinx/Ekko well enough (no, the bridge scene is not proper set-up for a romantic relationship yall bffr). and now im supposed to believe it takes an AU for Ekko to suddenly believe "Powder is still within Jinx" or wtv - even tho that was already done in s1e7, with way less time and more emotional impact. also, the same Jinx that KILLED firelights? that worked for Silco? one cute dating AU sim and Ekko wholeheartedly believes in our Jinx again??? GOD i hate it. why did they ignore the eco-fascism plot they had going on with the tree? there was so much potential there! ekko confronting Jayce about Zaun being a wastebucket for Piltover's toxins would be a great allegory to irl eco-fascism (as was set up and established in s1). but stupid me for expecting pay-off for anything set up in season 1 ig
The writers really only cared about Jayce and Viktor sorta and it shows this episode could've been about ekko still but explore his ACTUAL relationships with Jinx Vi hell even caitlyn gassing the city but nope like Mel he had to be sidelined into a plot that doesn't connect to the themes of the show now people only like him for his relationship with AU powder and it sucks
your caitlyn takes make me feel so vindicated LMAOOO i do not feel bad for her in the slightest and it’s not because of my “lack of media literacy” SHES EVIL???
no because i have seen SO MANY incredible ways season 2 COULD have gone while maintaining all the aspects people loved about the original season, not assassinating characterizations and core themes left and right, like people would've done this FOR FREEEEEEEE (not saying people SHOULDNT be paid for their ideas/work but like.... WHAT COULDVE BEEN) like we were SO CLOSE to getting such groundbreaking representation WHY WHY WHYYYYYYY can we not have nice things in this world like i was in such a state of denial after it ended i was number 1 season 2 GLAZER but after going through the 5 stages of grief and realizing we were robbed of something so good it almost hurts MORE??? like i was so excited for canon wlw (with queer asians yippeeee) like maybe cait could show incredible character growth and show how unlearning prejudice is an ONGOING process but that it's imperative to make that effort and she can help dismantle the oppressive systems set up by her predecessors but noooo she has to be a fascist and the caitvi happy ending would feel not so ick idk i must cry over this AGAIN...
With the Ekko part about zaun. You have to remember heim was there for about 3 years prior to ekko coming so I’d assume heim being on the counsel influenced the condition of the 2 cities
I appreciate how you put this all into perspective. It's something people have been struggling to put into words and consequently causing discourse over, but I think you did it well. (I also had no idea how willing Christian Linke was to cause any of these problems or respond in the way he did...Really struggling to have sympathy for him on this)
Hi i may be a one man army but i would love to see your live reactions to all the acts of arcane... ive seen a lot of creators talk about the show but you're literally the only one i agree with and who has correct opinions i think
i cannot thank you enough for this fine viewing experience, please also release every bit of footage you have relating to arcane please and thank you 🙇🏾♀ i would love to see the whole soundtrack tier list 😂
56:50 (last comment hsafkfasf sorry i dislike this season a LOT) one thing which, when asking around, i have rarely found anyone agree on what was meant: Viktor being the mage/being manipulated by the hexcore > was the hexcore manipulating him/sentient as s1 implied? but then why does Jayce make it sound like it was all Viktors doing/does mage Viktor imply Viktor will always Turn Evil > was Sky the hexcore, Viktors imagination or was it genuinely Sky's essence that the hexcore took in when she got dusted? > did Mage Viktor dimension travel or time-travel? how come he is flesh when its implied his universe ran parallel to ours? how did Mage Viktor get the ruin when Viktor get it via hextech and jayce and jayce gets it from Viktor? > how did 'there is always a choice' viktor turn into 'choice is false' viktor within one Jayce blast? > if jayce killed viktor in s2e6, in Viktors pov for random, why does viktor act suprised in s2e8 when jayce tries to kill him again? (after Viktor says "he is more lucid/sees more clearly than ever". clearly not enough to understand Jayce would try to kill u again?) > going of the choice mentioned: so viktor, a DISABLED MAN, his story boils down to "either condemn yourself to die young or die evil and a villian hated or misremembered by everyone"? his whole autonomy and choice didnt exist from the start, apparently, or WAS it his choice? Mage Viktor Robot God plot makes me livid its sooo fucking dumb
thank you for putting my grievances into words LOL the time/dimension travel plot is so goddamn stupid. excuse me while i ask too many questions about it. ○ why do the character designs of s1 mage!viktor and s2 mage!viktor not match? for example, s1 mage!viktor has hand tattoos that are absent on the s2 version. (could it be because it's a retcon? impossible...) ○ why does mage!viktor look nothing like the final form of main!viktor? If he can devolve himself back into flesh, then that undermines his transformation where he lets go of his humanity and sees "sky" disintegrate a second time. It implies that he can "regain" his humanity without jayce and without using other timelines. ○ so, if mage!viktor regrets his decision in trapping humanity in arcanelandTM, why doesn't he just... fix what he did? > why is he lonely? can't he talk to everyone he has trapped in arcaneland? we see his viktims attached to each other there when main!viktor and jayce are floating around. > why can't he simply release his victims from arcaneland? Do all of his victims disintegrate like Sky did after a while? > if he can turn himself back into flesh, then why can't he turn his automatons back into their human forms? Or at least build new humans to play with. If you are a god sick of living in a lonely wasteland, why not fix your lonely wasteland?? Why go to other dimensions to almost cause but prevent the wasteland? wtaf? If mage!viktor actually regretted ending humanity, then he wouldn't put other worlds at risk through altering timelines. ○ HE ENDED MORE WORLDS THAN HE SAVED. main!jayce's rune was the only rune that fucking worked! ○ If he wanted to save other dimensions... alter the timeline yourself, Viktor! We know you can do it because you save kid Jayce many times! Let Jayce die in the snow! Literally just kill yourself, Viktor! Do Anything! holy fuck! Mage!viktor values teaching other Viktors about the joy of pursuit or whateverthefuck over actually preserving humanity. so much blood is shed by main!viktor and the noxians despite the "good ending" the main universe had. and for what? it was confirmed by the writers that main!viktor and jayce are dead. Why does mage!viktor sacrifice so many lives just to teach main!viktor a lesson that he will only know for a good 10 seconds before being sucked into a rune? It's so funny how a god's dimension/time travel plan to save humanity is throwing darts (runes) at the wall to see what sticks. And then he must bring jayce to another dimension and keep him in a hole to teach him a moral lesson(?) and have him climb out and pray he doesn't fall to his death. And of course he must bring Ekko and Heimer to another dimension to invent a time machine. Yes, great plan!! Not random and convoluted at all. ○ Also, why does mage!Viktor say "in all timelines, in all possibilities, only you can show me this?" It must be for dramatic effect because it seems false. ekko and heimer got sent to a timeline where jayce is banished/dead and viktor is probably dead from his illness. I'm assuming mage!viktor must know this because he sends ekko and heimer to that timeline so they can invent time travel in peace. unless viktor didn't send them on purpose and ekko inventing time travel is a happy coincidence required for mage!viktor's masterplan to work. and finally... mage!viktor's treatment of jayce is horrible. ○ i have no idea how people think the soulmate thing is cute when mage!viktor is an obsessed stalker. viktor and jayce are only "soulmates" because mage!viktor makes it so! He ALTERS TIMELINES to manipulate them into meeting. well, i guess it's a chicken-and-egg situation cuz it's a time loop, but whatever. it's still obsessive. ○ Mage!viktor giving Jayce the hole treatment (tho hilarious) is abusive. Mage!viktor could have told him about main!viktor immediately and sent him back. But mage!viktor instead toys with jayce and watches him suffer. why? > if mage!viktor's point in putting jayce in a hole was to teach him to truly understand main!viktor's life, then he failed. jayce sees viktor's disease, caused by oppression of his town over zaun's, as an "imperfection" that viktor shouldn't fix. Jayce, despite solitary confinement, still treats a terminal illness like a cosmetic flaw. i guess it makes sense--jayce only broke his leg, and it didn't impede him that much b/c he was able to climb a floating tower with it. i don't think s1 arc 3 viktor could climb a fucking mountain. > what is the point of teaching jayce a moral lesson if he's going to die anyway? it's like mage!viktor is playing with dolls of himself and jayce. he's just going through many variations of the same scenario with his blorbos. fuck everyone else who'll die! how callous. do you think mage!viktor saw main!viktor and jayce kill themselves at the end and was like, "yes, so close! now i'll try again and see if they live this time!!"? and if they aren't truly dead and are instead trapped in the rune forever..that would be as lonely as mage!viktor's existence. confinement where you drive each other crazy. what an awful ending for jayce. the writers lowkey turned viktor into lord farquaad. "Some of you may die.. but that's a sacrifice i'm willing to make!" what a far cry from the idealistic and empathetic scientist i loved in s1. before s2 started, pretty much all i knew about league lore was that viktor was going to become a cyborg. when arc 1 dropped i was confused and devastated by the heavy-handed jesus symbolism bullshit. why turn your scientist character into a religious cult leader??? viktor becoming disillusioned with hextech, replacing his diseased and tainted body parts with metal, and becoming a "successor" to silco--using a robotic army to liberate zaun--would have been much more in character villain arc for viktor. oh well. #notmyviktor
dude ur a person who i sometimes wonder "hey where did he go" and then to have a video recommendation from ur channel and ur ranting about a show ive been obsessed with 😭😭😭
13:16 tbh what made it okay was because silco read vanders letter so zaun was united and hextech wasnt invented so what does topside have that zaun didnt atp
I have never seen u before but i love the way you talk about things and your voice. 🖤 Also YES i also called them Cunty Mannequins 😂😂😂 ummm ALSO UR THE FIRST PERSON TO AGREE WITH MY TAKE ON CAITLIN ZNGNZGSDMYXHVHAAA AAA
On the whole Caitlyn thing I understand a few parts on which you mentioned but I think it's unfair to gloss over a character without enough detail. As we all know Caitlyn grew up in privileged wealthy household and had a very high status since day one inevitably. She was sheltered by mostly her mother in hopes that she could carry out the Kiraman legacy. Now, one of the things Caitlyn hates the most is not being able to seek justice as shown with how hell-bent she was to track down who ambushed the airship, who blew her up leaving her to be the only survivor because of the stolen crystal and the criminal activities involving Silco. I absolutely love Jinx primarily because of how similar her and Caitlyn are. At first glance you may see no correlation but Jinx/Powder's worst fear was being abandoned and people thinking she's not good enough. She constantly tried to prove herself which led to the accidental killing of her family, blowing up an airship to retrieve the gemstone for Silco ambushing the firelights and kidnapping Caitlyn to prove to vi she can protect her because in her mind Caitlyn is a threat. They both have emotional drives which makes them two sides of the same coin. Moving on from that, a lot of people including yourself (don't take this personally) downplay Caitlyn's actions because you feel as though her mother dying isn't a good enough excuse. This is what confused me about the fandom because Caitlyn gassing the chembarons and Jinx nuking the council is because of the loss of their parental figures, they are both wrong in what they had done but had motivations that where very similar which I can sympathise with. Grief shouldn't be compared because everyone's relationship to who they have lost is different. The pressure that Caitlyn was left with was immense because she had a fragile relationship with Vi already, almost everybody was dead from the council, the funeral which is a sacred time for a person to reflect on their loved ones specifically her mother was invaded by the people she wanted to understand now leaving her volatile. Now the highly controversial take on Caitlyn being a Dictator/Fascist. She operates within Piltover's oppressive system that she consistently pushes back against and Ambessa's influence. Her willingness to undergo Ambessa's ideology was weak and she wasn't seeking domination but rather part of a broken system. Same with Jinx people could consider her a terrorist but she was also emotionally unstable and her actions were rooted in her trauma. In conclusion....they need therapy. Hope anyone who actually reads this gets a slightly better understanding and an open mind on why I love Arcane so much. ❤
As much as Arcane did a masterful work with the characters in season one, they trusted too much what they built to risk something in season two. Like Powder's emotions are done so right, especially after 2x3 how she even killed jinx because she was tired of fulfilling this villain-doing the worst possible so people know I am a villain thing- is taken away by Warwick. They didn't have the balls of Jinx making that choice for herself and not for her family. Yes she did blow up her family, you don't get do overs in real life. As much as I love the sibling arguing her and Vi have in the tunnel it really diminished the broken bond they should have. Vi... my homegirl was done so dirty. Vi really can't let go, she pretends she does and makes others choose for her over and over. She puts aside her morals and gets led to be an enforcer and basically pushes Cait hand in going with the killing Jinx plan so she doesn't have to look back. She doesn't let go of Jinx even if it would have been the conclusoon of her arc. Jinx had to force her to give up on her in prison and AGAIN in the hexgate. Cait has the most human in a fantasy world character build ever. Like of course she grew up privileged so she tried to do things with her privilege, is she bratty when she pretends like that isn't a privilege? Yeah. However I am so mad that they didn't have the balls to make her go full morally grey in going through her dictator arc at least for an episode. If they did give these characters the freedom to make their lowest choice it should be up to us to understand and see if they are forgivable. Otherwise it's not a grey character. obviously my biggest problem is how little everyone's trauma is second to Jinx's and maybe Caitlyn’s. Vi having sex with cait in a prison is nice and all because it mirrors their first time they met only because they never acknowledged Vi's trauma in prison. So yeah. Lot's of missed opportunities but still a great pice of media
I think the reason I get negative vibes from Silco , is because he would talk about the liberation of Zaun and it’s people as if that was the core motivation for his actions but ultimately he just wants the hierarchy to favor him and those he deems worthy and that shows in the disregard he has for community i.e experimenting on children, getting people addicted to a drug he created just so he can be a kingpin, using child labor to create said drugs. But I do think he is a good representation of individuals who experience oppression and use it to justify their individualistic/selfish mindset and actions. His actions became in service to self rather than community/liberation. Sorry for the long winded randomness.
As someone who hasn’t grown up with privilege and in a third world country… I loved Caitlyn’s arc. I don’t get why (it’s not a stereotype or maybe it is) but mostly people from the US don’t like her, don’t they see that they all come from a place of privilege? Lol ok, what I mean is that I’d never wish for someone to have the minimum everyday to survive, I wish for everyone to have the life of Caitlyn (not rich but maybe comfortable). I feel that everyone should aspire to that kind of life, I don’t get why people who are “oppressed” are the ones wishing everyone that kind of life bcz they seem it as “fair”. She’s also a good woman and I feel like mostly people with the hypocrite savior complex hate her. They only want her to be the “always emotionally available girlfriend” and as a woman, we are so tired to be portrayed like that. Also I notice a lot of homophobia, I’m not even part on the LGBTQ+ community but I fully support them even though is not legal in my country. I really love Jinx and Caitlyn, they are my favorite characters and I love how the writers showed their stories. If you end up hating either one of them, I think you didn’t fully understand Arcane at all, but that’s jus my take. Sorry if my English is not that good!
Wait u didn't talk about jayce and I was looking forward to it cuz I feel like his character actions made no sense why shoot Victor first if talk no jutsu worked on final boss Victor 🤔 wasn't this all avoidable 🕴🏾
It literally was, he could've just touched Salo and showed Viktor the future through him then Viktor would have stopped.🙎🏾♀️I love Jayce, but that dude just loves the hard way. 😭
I fear you are right... I think I just sort of assumed he knew what the right thing to do was---since he had future alternate dimension mentor Viktor. Not really a clue what was ever happening with Jayce so I didn't spend much time on him.
i think he had more time to think about him and viktor. when he first got back from the arcane thingy he was completely out of it, his only goal was to stop viktor by any means necessary, and probably couldn’t think clearly or remember why he was doing this. then after that he had time to calm down and recover from what the arcane did to his mind. he was literally being plagued by horrible visions and like viktor said, he wasn’t quite himself.
Jinx Ekko Vi and Caitlyn were my top 4 characters season 1 and now literally only jinx and ekko are the only ones left on that list. Idk this season vi and cait just felt so off EMPHASIS on cait. They just did not eat the same way they did in season 1 (pretty much everything doesn’t) like I literally borderline hate cait now ns
Ok so. i think you didin't understand what happened in the alternate dimension. The reason why everything worked out for Zaunites it's because of alternate-timeline Heimerdinger. He learned at first hand how decrepit and decadente life was in the undercity, so he took the oportunity to use the political power he still possesed in the alternative timeline and fixed the main issues that concerned Piltover/Zaun.
isn't this another fan theory? the only thing close to proof for this was one line of heimerdinger saying he acconplished many things in this universe.. there was no concrete evidence for whatever you're saying
@@mikulover493 Well if that's not enough implication for you. Then what is the reason in your opinion. Did Vi's death eased the tension between Piltover/Zaun? orrr..?
A more 'detail' nitpick i have which u also point out, but i think goes deeper and shows a complete misunderstanding of s1 Viktor's motivation by the damn writers thenselves: Jayce telling Viktor "youve always wanted to cure what you thought were imperfections: your leg, your disease" made me livid. he was DYING, jayce. he had the arcane version of stage 10 lung cancer. thats not an imperfection, thats a death sentence. comparing a deadly disease to a physical disability is just... insane to me.
and remember; Jayce in s1 did everything he could to save Viktor. he banished heimerdinger, his MENTOR from the council just so they could keep trying to save Viktor. who, again, was actively dying ("i can feel my body... eroding" is more than just an imperfection, yall. fuck im so mad lmao)
season 1 Viktor was never motivated by such shallow desires as getting rid of imperfections, and the writers trying to retcon that made me so annoyed. season 1 viktor wanted to help, he wanted to save the people in need. it was only after he fused with the hexcore that this got changed into 'save them /by perfecting them/". nothing, and i mean nothing in season 1 implies viktor hates his imperfections to the point of wanting to get rid of "all imperfections". he wanted to stay alive, because he wanted to have the chance to help people ("i suppose your legacy is well secured" talk with Heimer, where Viktor laments that he didnt get to do anything Good in his life, "Scientists seek discoveries, ways to make the world a better place" showing that his motive was helping the world)
the trope of 'this disabled character is evil, cause they want to get rid of their disability. theyre good as they are' is a trope so focused on abled people it drives me up the wall. yes, a disabled person does not need to be able bodied to be worthy of life, and to be perfect; thats true! but villainising the desire disabled people have to be treated as equal, to pretend like its THEIR ableism, instead of that of the surrounding world which makes them be critical of their disability, is vile. also, lets not forget that Viktor's illness is a direct result of the oppression of Zaun by Piltover.
i get the message was intended to be 'your perfect even if you think your not. your disability doesnt make you any less perfect', but in the same breath acting as if Viktor was only ever motivated by his desire to overcome imperfections, instead of motivated by his desire to help, and desire to keep on living SO HE COULD HELP, is just horrible. i almost wanna call it mean.
SPEAK!!!!
Hahahah I saw a screenshot of this comment posted on the ViktorMains subreddit a week ago! I thought you copy pasted it from someone but I went back to check and it was your comment from somewhere else :P
(Edit to actually respond to the comment: I was SOOO glad to see this comment because finally someone else noticed how in s2 Viktor is just a completely different person who has very little left of his own personality.)
@tamarbaas lmaooo yeah that was my comment! i thought it fit with was Deadave said this video so i went back to that vid to copy-paste my own comment lol
but yeah; s2 viktor and s1 viktor are such different entitities (literally....) it makes me fume. did they not rewatch season 1 or what?? they just turned him into whatever the plot needed him to be in an act (healer in act2 for vander/the girls, eugenics god in act3 for the Big Finale)
I agree with pretty much everything said but where Ekko stands makes sense. He doesn’t like silco cause he is hurting Zaun more then helping. The man is selling drugs to his own ppl causing people to become feens and crack addicts and corrupting the undercirty as many ppl say in season 1. Like if he had a plan to actually achieve justice for Zaun in a way that doesn’t harm it n didn’t kill his dad (or whatever tf benzo was to him) and friends and take his childhood bestie and assisted in turning her into a psycho who kinda hates herself maaaybe he wouldn’t hate him as much
Calling Mel Jayce's babysitter is sending me lmao
release the footage!!! you guys are so funny
damn, you practically touched on everything i hated about this season, specifically in relation to caitvi, jinx and viktor. so much stuff that doesn’t make sense that everyone completely overlooks. or they make their own fanfiction to explain away shit, except they’re genuinely serious and believe their completely made up details are canon. it’s really disappointing but refreshing to see someone who actually had “huh??” reactions to this in real time cause i feel kinda insane seeing all these reactors having the same positive takes on the season.
Why i feel like i haven't seen you in 3 years
please do more of this it's so entertaining
Season 1*
I love ur content ur so unserious its amazing
i did not really enjoy Mel as a character in s1.
Super valid. I enjoyed reading this
Very nice video!
And Lord knows I'm tired of shows not actually exploring the radical political plots THEY started😭😞
season 1 being so good to get people attached so much that they glaze season 2 even tho its garbage and actually drags down s1, but the animation is incredible as always, so we have that at least
The writers really only cared about Jayce and Viktor sorta and it shows this episode could've been about ekko still but explore his ACTUAL relationships with Jinx Vi hell even caitlyn gassing the city but nope like Mel he had to be sidelined into a plot that doesn't connect to the themes of the show now people only like him for his relationship with AU powder and it sucks
your caitlyn takes make me feel so vindicated LMAOOO i do not feel bad for her in the slightest and it’s not because of my “lack of media literacy” SHES EVIL???
ok now I need you to talk about your thoughts on the story of wicked
i need more videos like this where you talk about other shows. this style of video is my fav
love the chaotic editing style lol. agree on most of the points, kinda surprised I failed to catch how problematic caitlin's character was.
For real, seeing their reaction made me question my own. Like I knew it was wrong but didn't clock it as abuse. Kinda scary, honestly
no because i have seen SO MANY incredible ways season 2 COULD have gone while maintaining all the aspects people loved about the original season, not assassinating characterizations and core themes left and right, like people would've done this FOR FREEEEEEEE (not saying people SHOULDNT be paid for their ideas/work but like.... WHAT COULDVE BEEN) like we were SO CLOSE to getting such groundbreaking representation WHY WHY WHYYYYYYY can we not have nice things in this world like i was in such a state of denial after it ended i was number 1 season 2 GLAZER but after going through the 5 stages of grief and realizing we were robbed of something so good it almost hurts MORE??? like i was so excited for canon wlw (with queer asians yippeeee) like maybe cait could show incredible character growth and show how unlearning prejudice is an ONGOING process but that it's imperative to make that effort and she can help dismantle the oppressive systems set up by her predecessors but noooo she has to be a fascist and the caitvi happy ending would feel not so ick idk i must cry over this AGAIN...
seated for ur youtuber era
This is the best Christmas gift. I needed an hour long arcane video under the tree.
With the Ekko part about zaun. You have to remember heim was there for about 3 years prior to ekko coming so I’d assume heim being on the counsel influenced the condition of the 2 cities
1:01:09 i actually did my dishes, OUR ENTIRE CHRISTMAS DISHES!!!🤬
You're a blessing on this Earth
Where can we watch your reaction videos? They look great 😊
I appreciate how you put this all into perspective. It's something people have been struggling to put into words and consequently causing discourse over, but I think you did it well. (I also had no idea how willing Christian Linke was to cause any of these problems or respond in the way he did...Really struggling to have sympathy for him on this)
I literally agree with everything you said
i love vi arcane
I love Vi but her writing was so bad this season 😭 what did they do to my girlll
Hi i may be a one man army but i would love to see your live reactions to all the acts of arcane... ive seen a lot of creators talk about the show but you're literally the only one i agree with and who has correct opinions i think
weaponizing the (morally) grey was so good r u kidding me 😭
i cannot thank you enough for this fine viewing experience, please also release every bit of footage you have relating to arcane please and thank you 🙇🏾♀ i would love to see the whole soundtrack tier list 😂
Would love to see your reactions to the show!
been meaning to watch this show and this is my sign to do so
56:50 (last comment hsafkfasf sorry i dislike this season a LOT) one thing which, when asking around, i have rarely found anyone agree on what was meant: Viktor being the mage/being manipulated by the hexcore
> was the hexcore manipulating him/sentient as s1 implied? but then why does Jayce make it sound like it was all Viktors doing/does mage Viktor imply Viktor will always Turn Evil
> was Sky the hexcore, Viktors imagination or was it genuinely Sky's essence that the hexcore took in when she got dusted?
> did Mage Viktor dimension travel or time-travel? how come he is flesh when its implied his universe ran parallel to ours? how did Mage Viktor get the ruin when Viktor get it via hextech and jayce and jayce gets it from Viktor?
> how did 'there is always a choice' viktor turn into 'choice is false' viktor within one Jayce blast?
> if jayce killed viktor in s2e6, in Viktors pov for random, why does viktor act suprised in s2e8 when jayce tries to kill him again? (after Viktor says "he is more lucid/sees more clearly than ever". clearly not enough to understand Jayce would try to kill u again?)
> going of the choice mentioned: so viktor, a DISABLED MAN, his story boils down to "either condemn yourself to die young or die evil and a villian hated or misremembered by everyone"? his whole autonomy and choice didnt exist from the start, apparently, or WAS it his choice?
Mage Viktor Robot God plot makes me livid its sooo fucking dumb
thank you for putting my grievances into words LOL
the time/dimension travel plot is so goddamn stupid. excuse me while i ask too many questions about it.
○ why do the character designs of s1 mage!viktor and s2 mage!viktor not match? for example, s1 mage!viktor has hand tattoos that are absent on the s2 version. (could it be because it's a retcon? impossible...)
○ why does mage!viktor look nothing like the final form of main!viktor?
"Some of you may die.. but that's a sacrifice i'm willing to make!" what a far cry from the idealistic and empathetic scientist i loved in s1.
before s2 started, pretty much all i knew about league lore was that viktor was going to become a cyborg. when arc 1 dropped i was confused and devastated by the heavy-handed jesus symbolism bullshit. why turn your scientist character into a religious cult leader??? viktor becoming disillusioned with hextech, replacing his diseased and tainted body parts with metal, and becoming a "successor" to silco--using a robotic army to liberate zaun--would have been much more in character villain arc for viktor. oh well.
#notmyviktor
dude ur a person who i sometimes wonder "hey where did he go" and then to have a video recommendation from ur channel and ur ranting about a show ive been obsessed with 😭😭😭
I could listen to you for hours 🙂↕️
jumped for joy when i saw this
Pls release the full reaction Out of the gutter
33:39 I literary had the same coversation in my head while watching Isha appears as you with your partner 😂
I need the full scene of you crying to Issha🤣
13:16 tbh what made it okay was because silco read vanders letter so zaun was united and hextech wasnt invented so what does topside have that zaun didnt atp
that letter wouldnt change Silco`s whole belief system. Its cheap fanservice
I think ur really cute. Clicked for you but stayed for the commentary. :b
30:51 the cursed caitlyn picture
21:55 funny that did actually happen 😂 (for a good reason)
You're kidding
Cynthia Erivo, Jenny Nicholson, CupcakKe and class consciousness all in one video? Insanity
This is like the second coming of Christ
31:00 oh my god I can't stop laughing at this
As someone who hasn’t grown up with privilege and in a third world country… I loved Caitlyn’s arc.
SEVIKAAAAA ❤❤❤❤❤ QUEEEN
Jinx Ekko Vi and Caitlyn were my top 4 characters season 1 and now literally only jinx and ekko are the only ones left on that list. Idk this season vi and cait just felt so off EMPHASIS on cait. They just did not eat the same way they did in season 1 (pretty much everything doesn’t) like I literally borderline hate cait now ns
Heyy yt
Ok so. i think you didin't understand what happened in the alternate dimension.
Did Vi's death eased the tension between Piltover/Zaun? orrr..?
