Thanks, I've now got a mtb with 12 speed eagle and had been really confused by the flat top chains when I looked to get a spare chain. No longer confused 😊
There is also a 12 speed chain from Wipperman that I am yet to get my hands on to test yet but looking at the info on their site it should be similar to the YBM and KMC chains for compatibility.
What chain can I get so I can be as lazy as possible on maintenance and still avoid rust? I live in wet and muddy Scotland. I believe my SL is a Sram alloy crank set 12 speed. And my Turbo Levo is Sram 11 speed. Thanks.
In wet conditions you might have to rewax every ride, which isn’t really an issue if you do a 2 chain rotation. I haven’t done a study on which chain rusts quickest but to avoid the issue I just run the chain through my a cloth when I get back.
@@travers_bikes Thanks. I watched your video on waxing the chain. Interesting stuff. But I'm riding through wet mud more often than not all year round up here. And I'm looking to avoid maintenance, not add to it (taking chain off every time would add to it). I can see myself getting the new Pinion e1.12 system with a belt drive some point this year. Might try the KMC DLC option meantime.
I have made lots of frames with Pinion gearboxes and Gates belt drive. Not having to degrease saves you much more time than swapping a chain. I have one ready to go, so takes less than 30 seconds to be back up and running. The other option is Silca Synergetic, was suspended in a carrier, it’s a drip wax
@@travers_bikes I feel a gearbox and motor unit is a natural evolution for ebikes. I'm looking forward to seeing reviews and rider feedback on the new Simplon and others. Should be an interesting year.

Glad I could help! I stock all the chains and cassettes. Have you looked into waxing the chain?

Hi I have a question please I bought 12spd XT drive train and a 3rd party SRAM chainring. I've heard this doesn't work what are your thoughts?
I presume the chain is XT, it will work but not as smooth as an XT CHAINRING

Yes that’s my next project pinion with a motor
