His parents should be in prison for not reporting it immediately to law enforcement. That makes them an accessory to murder. Their Atty should have insisted that Brian and his parents, turn themselves in to local police.

unfortunately there are a lot of SOs and spouses who are never physically abusive but still are abusive, or one day are. often in abusive relationships they act like the nice guy, but when you are in the trap then the abuse starts and its difficult to leave. often they can seem like a normally "concerned" partner to outsiders, when they are actually being controlling/intimidating abusive.
sadly seen this with some ppl I know.
leaving is the most dangerous time especially if they own guns... usually ends badly.. and often a restraining order inflames the situation as well. cops aren't taking it seriously enough. this happens far too often.

      Parents are exempt.
      From mosesandrooth law firm:
      FLORIDA RELATED PERSON EXEMPTION
Under Florida law, a spouse, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother or sister, or a person otherwise related by blood or marriage to the principal actor cannot be charged with aiding and abetting under most circumstances. However, extended family members could face charges, including aunts, uncles, or cousins.
What is the rationale behind the related person or family exemption? The reasoning is that it is unrealistic to expect family members to turn in their spouse, child, parent, etc. The duty to one’s family will often outweigh any responsibility a person might feel toward their moral or legal obligations. As a result of these public policy concerns, the Florida legislature has carved out this exemption to aiding and abetting.
      Exception To The Exemption
There is an important caveat to the exemption. If the crime involves child neglect, child abuse, or results in the death of a child, the related person exemption does not apply. Any family member, regardless of whether they are immediate or not, can be charged.

Laundrie parents should be arrested for aiding and abetting...or accessory after the fact... They admitted that they knew what he did before he even arrived back home. Which means they knew while he travelled from Wyoming all the way back to Fla in her van. And their whole "family vacation" afterward was mainly a "goodbye" send-off. I still think his sister was in the dark of it the whole time since she was the only one who didn't care about speaking to the press. Brian probably told his parents that he wanted to do what he thought was "the honorable thing" by ending his life...which is really the cowards way out to avoid life in prison. Instead of reporting him, they helped him. He drove out to the nature preserve, and they picked his car up after and brought it back to their house, and they said NOTHING to anyone after. If they had reported, or turned him in, they would have avoided all of this negative press coverage on them. They're just as complicit and deserve prison time for hiding the truth.

Parents are exempt. The article below states why.

The worst part for me is that they didn’t report her death and give her family the chance to see her again. Instead, like cowards, they tried to cover up what was plainly obvious to us all, and robber her family of that closure. Instead, they got her back in pieces. They didn’t protect or save him, because they lost him anyway. They missed the chance to support their son in love after he made a horrible decision and instead they showed him how ugly people can be. That guilt ate him alive. I have always explained to my son that I will love him
no matter what decisions that he makes, but that I am never going to lie and cover up his mistakes. I have explained that I will be by his side, but that he will have to stand accountable for his choices, so choose wisely. I hope they are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Daddy and Mommy dearest were on that search! As they were walking and suddenly stopped, daddy left the trail and mommy stayed put on the trail. Daddy walks back carrying a white bag. When he left the trail, the bag was rolled up in his right hand. And if Brian Laundrie "killed himself" how'd he wrap it in a plastic bag and throw it in the body of water where he "killed himself"?
