Thanks for making this recording of Don Sinta performing Husa's Concerto for alto saxophone and band, Stephen. Thanks as well to the University of Oklahoma Symphonic Band in this live performance from 1978. It is especially significant as the passing of Karel Husa happened this very month. Karel Husa conducting the performance makes the event somewhat historic! Thanks again, my friend!! Posted 12/29/16 - Husa died 12/15/16 at age 95
Thanks for posting, Steve! Husa also visited OU in 1972, I think, as guest composer and conductor for Music for Prague. Correct me if you know differently. Gene THRAILKILL told stories of Husa’s visit during his very first year (1971-1972) if memory serves. Appreciate you saving this OU historic recording from a few years after Prague and with the incredible saxophone artist, Don Sinta.
Thank you, Bill, for listening, watching, and commenting! It's been "a few" years since we were members of the Oklahoma All-State High School Band(s) together (1966 and 1967)!!! I hope you're enjoying your retirement, my friend. Take care, young man!
