Thanks for the plug man. This band is talented all the way around. They are ridiculous! Thanks for this brother!
Also edit: They are brother and sister. One of the backup singers is also their younger brother. It's a talented family.
The father of the band members of Lawrence is Marc Lawrence, a filmmaker, screenwriter, and director. He is best known for his work on Miss Congeniality.
They are siblings, and they are a rabbit hole!
Fun Fact: At age 6, Clyde became the youngest ever member of the Songwriters Guild of America , for a song he wrote for the Movie Miss Congeniality. His dad was the co-screenwriter and the producers axed the planned song. Clydes dad slipped his son's own song in and they loved it.
great reaction! gotta check out all of their other "acoustic-ish" videos for sure. the mic on Gracie and Clyde's vocals is the Sennheiser MD441. it's a really nice super-cardioid dynamic mic. i used to have one that i loved using on snare and electric guitar amp. solid all-around mic!
Welcome to the Family Business (and the rabbit hole).
WOWZERS!!!! Some impressive vocals there!!!!
Super impressive!!! Just blown away
Sennheiser MD-441-U dynamic mic is what you were asking about on the lead vox.
so so so good. I saw them live in Portland a few weeks....amazing!
I was there too! Amazing live always.
Going to see them in Detroit *tonight* !! Can’t wait - they are fire
Enjoy!!!
Enjoyed your reaction
I think you'd enjoy any of their acoustic or acoustic-ish videos from a recording/production standpoint, not just musically. There are lots of videos breaking down the instrumentation and singing but for those of us who geek out on studio setup and recording, I think your videos with commentary on some of the things they accomplish recording-wise would be welcome. There are songs with horn sections, cajons, conch shells, beatboxing... all kinds of creative unique instrumentation as well as classic guitar bass keys drums stuff. And somehow they capture it all masterfully.
Welcome to the family business! Clyde and Gracie Lawrence are siblings that front an 8 member band out of NY. All the other band members have been friends they have picked up growing up, from middle school all the way through Clyde's time in college. Gracie joined full time after HS and they are on album #4 (the second under Bellion's label).
A few months back they performed on the Tonight Show (blew Fallon away), they've opened for the Jonas Brothers this last year and just a few more months back, opened for the Rolling Stones in NY. They have been featured on Jacob Collier's latest album, and Gracie is featured on Meghan Trainor's latest album (Crushin').
They just wrapped the first US leg of their headline tour and have a second one planned, but international dates first. As much fun as the songs are, they really really shine live. They do not use any backing tracks, and everyone in the band is multi talented.
The Acoustic-ish versions of the songs are a pretty decent example of the live feeling, but these sessions involve singing with a group of backup vocalists that are not normally part of the normal show. Still, fire sessions every time.
You could easily just spiral down the rabbit hole with all of their stuff.
More Gracie: 23, Freckles, The Weather
More Clyde: Guy I used to be, False Alarms, Casualty
More both: The Heartburn Song, Superficial, It's not all about you, Hip Replacement
"Don't Lose Sight" (Acoustic version!) by the band Lawrence
If you love the keys, check out 'Guy I Used to Be' (Acoustic-ish) Clyde goes absolutely ham on the keys in that one.
So late to the party. 2 of those background singers lead their own bands, well 3 now. ..and one is in all but one acousticish version. This was 2019.
Better late than never, right!
Sennheiser MD441?
Looks like it! Great catch!
