I think for a long time Louisiana was the deadliest state, but Mississippi has seemed to surpass it. It's no surprise that a lot of these states are also very poor. A lot of these are also Southern states. Hotter weather seems to also incite more crime.
Nearly half of the cities & counties may lean liberal but all but 2 states (Maryland & New Mexico) are massively conservative with super majority GOP state houses. This says a lot about the so-called 'party of law & order'.
