@@Girlfriend22222 but does it??? Look, I’m all for tearing down transphobes and sexist dough bags too. That’s not what was going on here. I feel like I get your point. There’s nothing wrong with calling a female and female or a male a male. What’s wrong is that there is some big distinguishing factor between a female actor and a male actor when in reality they are all just actors.
Great movie. Extremely well done. Gets a solid A in my book. Favorite??? No thanks. I will not be watching this on repeat. To be honest, I think once was enough for me. For the sake of analyzing film, I might give it a second watch, but I could never keep it in my library. How are you able to stomach watching this repeatedly??? I don’t want to give out too much personal information, but honestly this movie is pretty fucking triggering if you’ve been through any kind of messed up sex stuff. I wouldn’t even be able to put promising young woman in rotation. I definitely want to see it a couple more times but it is hard to fucking watch.
@@kassandrakid9440 For me, as a CSA survivor, it is incredibly cathartic. I actually have a sort of ritual where I watch it every month. To be fair, I completely skip to the part where Patrick Wilson is tied up. I can't watch the beginning bits more than once a year, lol. But the rest of it is so so cathartic to me. It's like vicariously getting revenge.
@@noellethomas2589 That totally makes sense. I have a couple of movies like that too. And you’re probably onto something with omitting certain scenes so that it’s more about the The catharsis. Yeah, to be honest, the build up is much more triggering than any other part of the movie for me. I could see myself skipping the beginning bits just to watch the rest, although I probably would also skip that one particular scene too. I found promising young woman to be very cathartic up until the end. Then it was just sad but still a very entertaining movie and important one in my opinion. Those movies are obviously very different but both are about getting revenge on sexual predators. I will try this movie again without the beginning bits. I think that could make it easier to watch. Have a good day/night.
That’s literally Ellie from The Last of Us sitting right there. I wish we could have gotten a film or show with that casting choice, along with maybe Mel Gibson or Hugh Jackman playing Joel.
This movie is best if you don't know anything about it. I knew Ellen Page as the daughter in Regenesis, she was already great in that. This was the second thing I've seen her in. Didn't even know that she was going to be in it. Fantastic performance. And then goddamn Juno happened...thankfully that didn't turn her into a stereotype.
Dumb movie conspiracy theory: since we dont know hayley's background or if hayley is her real name, what if shes really Juno? Same red sweater. What if juno did this before she got pregnant?
Hahahahahahahaha it was so funny the way she suddenly got out of words and then nervous at the end of the interview. Then she finally said "I don't know" LMAO
She handles this interview very well...and was able to get some things across, despite the well-meaning interviewer. Her intelligence, kindness, and wit, help her to be the phenomenal actor that she is.
I had to force myself to watch this after I watched the car crash of the interview with Patrick Wilson first . Thank God these actors are both brave and such professionals & so able to deal with ignorance of the interviewer - who seems to think he stumbled into a horror movie between The Ring and Scream and what he calls ‘the gore’ is only and entertainment device with no more depth than a ‘jump scare’ . The “Nausea factor” is listening to the utterly uninformed questions. Elliot Page (whose seemly innocuous comments about acting are hard to hear now we know the depth of suffering behind the image and the freedom a new identity via an acting role held )was breathtaking in this groundbreaking role and as Hayley and Elliot- this role will always stand as the voice of the iconic ‘avenging angel’ for every little girl (as Hayley says) “…watched, touched, hurt, screwed , killed.” by paedophiles and abusers .
@sniper479 Or how about a statement against the world, and how the abuse towards girls AND boys is something not to be tolerated? Yes, maybe she's a bit insane, but the message is something extremely serious. No one should take anything from anyone if they're uncomfortable with it. This movie is amazing.
She's abit pissed when this guy's all like scared about the movie. I think she's turning alittle into her role in hard candy in this interview especially when she looks at him lol that's scaryyy
That's because she was the official model for ANOTHER game, but the makers of The Last of Us wanted her too, so they just made Ellie look like her, but Ellen didn't like it, because she said, you know, she's the official face for another game and that's kind of unfair, especially because the Last of Us makers didn't even ask her... so they changed the original Ellie a bit, so she doesn't look as much as Page. But you can still see the similarities.
This was a good movie, but it could have been great, it just started one way and then went in a weird direction. I'm not used to seeing a Ellen Page movie where she is the villain. I thought it was going to be a very warm, sweet, coming of age movie about the romance between a slightly older man and a young woman. Unfortunately it turned out to be some weird horror movie where she turned out to be a sadistic villain.
That's such a shallow way to see it...did you even read the synopsis/description of said movie? And what about an older man and a YOUNG GIRL is sweet,it wasn't even a slight gap,it was mentioned in the movie he was in his 30s-40s 😬
Now every time I see her, my mind goes back to that movie "Hard Candy" and what she did I understand she was acting but all these years later I tend to wonder because she's finally comes out of the closet that she is a homosexual that many she had this hate for men which made it easier for her to castrate this poor guy in the movie, It makes me think many other man haters out there? Now every movie I ever see her in I'll flash back to her performance in that movie
+MokosChannel I'm confused. I thought she did it, then he looks at himself and says "I'm all there ". So she was pretending, ye or no? He does say he will fuck her on the roof . I need to know.
Old comment, but to give you a clear answer: she did pretend. He had a clamp on his balls to make them feel numb, he says "i'm all there", he didn't have any pain when putting on his pants and when hayley set up the camera and the monitor so jeff could watch he was actually watching the castration of a pig (you can see it when he ejects the vhs)
As a guy I was wincing at the castration scene, EXCELENT performance by both Ellen Page and Patrick Wilson.
(S)He un-castrated himself.
Interviewer: "We're not advocating sneak-ins"
Ellen: "I am"
I love her answers way better than most of the young actors out there.
She's smart
Ellen Page's page is magnificent. Her role is possibly the most terrifying female character I have every known.
Stop calling use females u disgusting pig
______ ok ? Call man males then it sounds weird stupid

People still believe Ellen Page has something to do with Ellie in The Last Of Us? Ellen Page has nothing to do with the game AT ALL.
nimking1 she is in Beyond Two Souls
Ellen page❤❤❤❤❤ thank you!!!
OK, this journalist definitely has some issues. Seriously??? You’re going to ask about method acting with this movie??? You definitely have problems.
@tatugirl676: during filming she was 17 and her character was 14.
Emmanuel Goldstein and she looks 14 too! Goddamn aging. And goddamn this comment is old!
