    Hey beautiful people, my life was very overwhelming for the last 7 days! 😂 I actually followed a few more guidelines than I showed here, including ones for eye health and skincare, but the video felt a little overwhelming with everything in so I included only the major ones (: all my love & hope you enjoy! Loved the video! You had me laughing a couple of times. I particularly love how you worked bubble tea and Lindt chocolate into your macros for the day. :) Remember for exercise it's 150 minutes of moderate cardio (for most people that a brisk walk), and about 75 of intense cardio (so just over an hour). Pretty sure what you do would qualify as intense cardio - so I'm sure you're nailing it! Also come visit more of the U.S.!

    On the sock thing-my feet are the part of my body that most influence how hot or cold I feel; I could be in shorts and T-shirt in the cold, as long as I have socks on I'm pretty OK. And the other way around-I give off a lot of heat in my sleep as is, but if I accidentally fall asleep with my socks on, without fail, I will wake up, every time, in the middle of the night in a pool of sweat, no matter how low the room temperature is.

    I just wanted to leave a comment about your water intake in general! Common thinking is that you have to drink at least 2l per day but there is actually a way to calculate how much you need! It's your body weight in kg multiplied with 40ml minus about 700-800ml! the minus is from the water you take in with foods or over oxygen etc.! The amount you have to drink also includes coffee, tee and juices but obvs it's best to drink water! just wanted to let you know if you are interested!
    lots of love

    If you are weightlifting regularly, it is recommended to have the same amount of grams per day of protein per pound that you weigh. (For example I weigh 120 pounds, so I should be consuming 120 grams of protein per day)

  • @hannahmay2445
    @hannahmay2445 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The protein recommendations are based on broadly acknowledged intakes to AVOID DEFICIENCY. This does not mean it’s the healthiest or optimal amount but it’s misleading because people may automatically think that more than the recommended amount is unhealthy. You’d have to be consuming extreme amounts of protein and/or have a kidney condition for an extremely high protein diet to do any damage. Great to see that you can look past the narrow guidelines and keep putting out great information and also entertaining too 😊

    Hi!
    I am just passing by, and I thought I would help clarify some information about the % daily value (I was confused about this for a while until I looked more into it). If someone has already said something about this, you can disregard everything else I will be writing here.
    They are mainly meant to be seen as the minimum intake a person needs on average in their diet to avoid showing clinical signs of deficiency. For example, the protein value listed is mainly based on the calculation of 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight which is essentially the bare minimum required to avoid protein deficiency. In many cases, this is clearly not even close to what is actually needed even in non-athletic populations such as those with sarcopenia where 2018 ESPEN guideline recommendations are 1 g/kg minimum. Considering the activity guidelines as noted by the WHO (and even more strenuous guidelines noted from the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans), the desired protein requirements are probably too low as the American College of Sports Medicine recommends 1.0 g/kg even for "recreational athletes" and up to 2 g/kg for strength or ultra-endurance athletes.
    I hope this helps! :)

      Unfortunately, this gets even more confusing since even the %DV (daily value) can be a bit ambiguous. For example, for saturated fat, the intent is "less than" whereas for fiber, the %DV can be seen as minimums. I hope this clarifies things further!
      I honestly have no idea how they expect the general population to understand these labels when they are even confusing for me as someone who has just recently graduated medical school.

    I'm out on pretty much all of them. I don't brush my teeth in the morning (just rince with water, or salt water) and even then, I use flouride free toothpaste. And I'm a computer student, so I'm always in weird positions and sitting, being frustrated, and stressed, with not much time to exercise other than stretching and walking. I'm also vegetarian and gluten free and it's really hard. I think the only thing I succeed at is water because I always drink at least 2 waterbottles a day, and showering at night because it makes me sleepy, especially with lavender soap! That being said, Canada updated their food guide to be inclusive to different dietary needs, cultural foods, and more lifestyle things. I trust 2 different doctors I've been seeing, one is really good with food issues, and the other is traditionally trained, and vegetarian herself. Yet, while I can easily sleep for 9-10 hours, I wake up super tired, and this is something I'm struggling with, plus I'm asexual and don't have that desire for any reason. But I do find sleeping at 16-18 degrees is way easier!

And then secondly I think you handled it really well, always reminding your audience that these are GUIDELINES and that individuals are going to have to adjust it to their lives. Lastly, as a dietetics student, the protein recommended is more like the minimum requirement. It is confusing, believe me I know.

    Ok - I loved your video... BUT, I am also obsessed with the OA. I also just fell in love with Maggie Rogers, she is amazing, but her dancing reminds me so much of the movements in the OA. You have to watch her music video for falling water. HAHA.

    Agreed on the protein! Most calculators that I have tried have me well over 100g. Especially if you should be that active, you do need more. Awesome video! Love the experiment ones. :)

    the sugar intake does not include sugar from fruit!! Especially not as thet recommend more than 500-1000g of fruit/veg per day

      I dont think juice counts as fruits eaten. Because fructose not attached to the fiber is absorbed differently.

    Wearing shoes would probably help you sit properly at a desk. I realised I always sit fairly well at work, but literally never sit right at home and came to the conclusion it’s because I wear shoes and don’t want to ruin the chairs that aren’t mine at an office.

    I bet you were doing the equivalent of much more than 150 minutes, as that’s of moderate, and every minute of intense counts for more, so good on you!

    Would you ever try a 7 day water fast challenge? What I've Learned channel has a great video on fasting and how it's much better than calories restriction, he goes over the benefits such as reduced hunger, using ketones for fuel, mental clarity, increased metabolism etc, would be interesting to see how it affects someone that's physically active.

      Hey (: I’d be interested to the see the research on this - it’s important to look at magnitude as well and if it’s significantly different in a large enough sample size. I’ll definitely look into it but be critical of people telling you stuff that might not be extensively studied xx

    • @AlanHill
      @AlanHill 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      He cites the studies he looked at while making the video, the title is "Fasting vs. Eating Less: What's the Difference? (Science of Fasting)", it's an interesting video I recommend giving it a watch :)

    and you're having so much fun and being so funny, I love it so much and I feel much lighter and
    more cheerful now :D
    Also it was really interesting and fun to see how "official" recommendations are sometimes
    contradicting and should not be taken at complete face value
