I think Australia got invited in 2015 to commemorate the competition's 60th anniversary. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Austrian host broadcaster ORF allowed this because Eurovision is really popular in Australia. It was supposed to be a one off, but for some reason they're still in it :)

2022 Ukraine had been charting all over Europe before ESC and we saw lyrics with the performance. It hits different when you know the songs meaning aswell..

Nevertheless it was a poor song and it won simply because of geopolitical reasons.

1994 was before the public was allowed to vote. And the first year countries from inside the iron curtain were allowed.. I truly think Poland was the better song.. But even the jury can be somewhat political.

Yeah, o think ot was because 1, Australia LOVES to follow eurovision
2.. Europe loves Australia so we collectively wanted then to stay haha. But...the rules are that IF Australia would win the competition they're not gonna host the next one in Australia but instead (I guess) one of the European country will hilost it but Australia will have the right to like...organise it..somehow....I think...correct me if I'm wrong anyone who knows the rules better :)😊

In 1991 Sweden and France ended up having the same amount of points, the tie breaker was how had got the most 12 points which ended up that both had the same amount of 12 points given to them that being 4 and it came down to how many 10 points they got and Sweden won with getting 4 of 10 points and France getting 2 of the 10 points.

Australia have always been a big fan of Eurovision and many people there stay up all night to watch it, so they got an invitation for 5 years and after that it got to be a longer invitation. If Australia would win they wont be hosting the next year, that would go to the runner-up country.

Australia debuted in Eurovision in 2015 on 60th edition because the show is very popular in Australia since the 80s
It was supposed to be just 2015, but people liked their song so much that EBU prolonged their "contract" for couple more years and they were part of Eurovision from 2015 to 2023
In 2024 they migh not come back, because their "contract" is finished, but maybe EBU will sign a new one with Australian broadcaster
