It seems that if DauT were as fast as Viper, it would be a 50-50 almost. Viper always manages to catch him off guard, takes better micro engagements, get in eco damage, but on the other hand Viper can quickwall and keep DauT out so well. In terms of strategy and creativity, DauT is 2nd to none.

Thank you Tristan and Dave for the tournament! Nomad was never my preferred map, but there were some truly memorable games and moments!
Great tournament! Exciting and amazing watching Viper play so well.... BUT it is getting a bit boring watching same player win every tournament. Wonder if it makes the next tournament more exciting by handicapping Viper somehow (and give him some of the prize pool money guaranteed as compensation for the handicap)... maybe have opposing teams get to draft and ban more civs first before Viper can... like first 5-10 picks goes to the opponent?
What an illogical and reprehensible comment. Viper has been winning for a decade. Never been boring. Just a testament to his skill.
Also how humiliating would it be for his opponents? It's bad enough he can beat them handedly when he's trying, but when he does so regardless of civ choice? It'd be such poor sportsmanship.

Great execution on an interesting tournament! I especially enjoyed the large pool for the first couple rounds and the idea of spreading out the casts over a month. Let's a lot of games sink in and gives us on YT time to catch up.

Today wasn't great, but seeing that there's already a WWC final and that it's between Viper and DauT really saved this day.
That was easily the most interesting tourney I’ve ever watched. Phenomenal maps, phenomenal talent, awesome casting. Just sweet stuff all around. Long live AOEII

T90, in future for tournaments, you might consider uploading all the videos as the same length. Just put a black screen at the end of videos that end shorter than others. That way before clicking and while watching the viewer can’t predict the outcome
he can‘t do that because of youtube and the monetization, if you click away when seeing the black screen and therefore only watch lets say ~70% of the video he will get much much less money on his videos :/

This is probably the only series I've seen where towers get converted. I thought they were convert-immune like Castles. Learn something new every time.
Back in the days as a child I actually tested the possibility of comverting towers with monks when played against easy AI. :) It worked then, it works now. But it's incredible to see this on a highest level! Also, I loved playing with monks. 11

I have a request. I mostly watch tournaments and only ever on youtube as I don't have the space to watch live. ONe thing that detracts from my enjoyment in quite a large way is the video length can sometimes help predict who is going to win. Eg, if it's a 1.5 hour video, that's probably three matches so in a BO5 whoever wins the first match will probably win the set. Kind of bums out the rest of the set when you know who's going to win.
Is there any way you could pad out the videos with extra content (even a blanks screen will do) so the video length doesn't help reveal the winner?
If you could it would make your already stellar videos even better!

In the domain of the Yellow snake lived a poor Shepard boy named Suibotton. One day as he was walking his sheep in search for greener grass a wolf appeared. Suibotton felt a sting of terror as he raised his staff and positions himself between the sheep and the wolf. Sweat soaked his forehead as the wolf growled deep. The wolf tried circle around to get to the sheeps, but Suibotton keep moving. Position himself between the sheep and the wolf again and again. Not before long the wolf gave up on this strategy and charge Suibotton. The Shepard never considered how uneven the odds were. The wolf sharp teeth was a far bigger treat than a stick in the hands of a weak little boy. The wolf on the other hand didn’t realize just how great a rang the stick had. The first strike landed on its head. It was far from fatal. Hardly even painful. It did however manage to disoriented the wolf a moment. The wolf might have considered retreat. Before it decide to attack again. Human was on the menu today. The moment had however allowed Suibotton to readjust his grip if the stick. He lunged his staff and managed to hit the wolf right in it left eye. The beast made a pitiful sound before it turned tail and ran off into the desert. The boy stared into the desert for a moment. Then he realized he was bleeding. The wolfs sharp teeth had but scratched him as he poked its eye out. He look at the sheep. They looked unaffected by the commotion. And thus he started to wonder. Why should a man protect the sheep and not the other way around. And idea came to life between his dirty little ears. Could he train a sheep to be a bodyguard. And as a new lamb was born he named him Peesh and immediately started training him. He disguised himself with wolfskin and made fake attacks against his mother. Since she was the only person who did ridicule him for his outlandish idea. After many tries he managed to learn Peesh to block his way when he had the skin on, but multiple encounters with wild wolfs showed signs of the training only working partially. Leaving Suibotton with scars and wounds to heal. It was at such a time when Suibotton was home injured from a wolf attack that his mother found herself eye to eye with a boar. Unarmed and with no one near by she had little other options than to run. The boar of course ran faster eager to pierce her with its tusks. It was at that moment that Peesh redeemed himself by blocking its path. The boar steered left, so Peesh moved left. The boar steered right and so did Peesh. It tried again and again until it finally decided to attack the sheep instead. Its tusks pushed in deep. Or at least it seemed until ripe up nothing but wool. It tried again and this time it managed to reach Peeshs skin, but the thickness of it protected him from any real damage. The third attack was canceled by a arrow from Suibottons mom. She managed to destroy the brain through the eye. The boar lay dead on the ground and the story of Peeshs bravado convinced many more to teach sheep to be bodyguards. They call them Peeshs.

Ok, not to take poor Daut down, but it looked to me like Viper threw a couple of games just to make the finals look more entertaining, like the other guy actually had a chance to win.
I'm just getting back into watching AoE II again even though I don't play it anymore, after a 2 year break. In 2019 I watched many hours each day :D
I feel like you have improved as a caster in the meantime, every game you cast is so enjoyable to watch. Even when the game is boring (definitley not the case in this set though), you come up with something to make it interesting, and your knowledge of the game and the players is very sound. Not that I ever thought otherwise, but coming back again now I'm actually surprised how much I enjoy it again, since I was quite bored by it at some point 2 years ago.
The banter between The Viper and Daut (and the rest of the GL members overall) is one of my favorite things about the pro scene in Aoe2

I love all the GL players, so I was so happy with how the Semis and Grand Final turned out. I do think Daut could have won this, he was playing so well, he has improved so much over the last 2 years, he has gone from a top 10 player to a consistent top 5 player. Yes Viper ended up winning 4-2, but Daut actually looked a chance, Tatoh (tatitot as memb says) was also looking really good, like all 3 of those GL boys could have won. I was so happy with how they performed.
Really enjoyed the tournament. Got me back into aoe2 after maybe 12months away. Congrats.
Daut's plays are always interesting to see, the two wins he had were really fun to watch.
Seems like learning how to instant wall to prevent attacks is absolutely essential and viper is amazing at it
Man wtf is wrong with TH-cam... I just spent 15 minutes waiting for 2 five second ads to load, both of which spend a fat time in the middle loading the last 3 seconds, just to get back to the video to have it restart every damn time. Man google needs to fix their shit. There's nothing wrong with my internet it loads the damn video just fine but holy shit this platform is ass. At least twitch skips the ad if it's broken holy fuck.

As a relatively new AoE2 DE player, yes your 7 year old son/daughter could likely beat me badly lol, this was my second tournament to watch (KOTD4 was my first) and I tried to watch as much as I could. A lot of great strategies, play, chances taken, furious actions, culminating in top notch talent in the Final Four and Championship! What a treat, although so much of my life on hold as I watched hour after hour of this ever since it started, and finished with the Championship today. Great Casting teamwork by Dave & T90, also appreciated MembTV Casting as well. Everyone's enthusiasm is appreciated. Rest up! Looking forward to the next tournaments for 2022! Cheers everyone!

I always thought that it was pretty funny that you can scout in this game with your sheep. How do you suppose they let you know what they've seen? Homing pigeons perhaps?
