It shows that Polnareff is not as shallow as the others see him. His theme shows his empathy for the villains that die by them, and giving him the "To the likable/Lovable Bastards" is like from him and to him.. Not to mention the kinda mellow and not pop song melody the song has, and like Goodbye Nostalgia and other songs, that part lures you in and shows you the charecter. Not the image of them from others, but from the character themselves. The whole song is amazing, and really deepens the view of the character. And it also, like goodbye nostalgia, tells us that he has been alone. After his sisters death, he isolated himself (I think) and subjected himself to loneliness until he finds the murderer, and meeting the crusaders opened him. (After a while, bc he originally intended to journey w/ them till he finds Hanged Man.)

Everyone is talking about Goodbye Nostalgia, But why do not talk about Iggy walk? If you look at the lyrics of the song and the plot of part 3, they fit perfectly and even makes him even better. If you don't get it, I'll explain it: The song starts of with a passive-aggressive Iggy who isn't interested with helping the crusaders even saying he doesn’t want to help them and only does it to save his own life. [Insert solo] (This is basically the pet shop fight/turning point) After this Iggy is still passive-aggresive but he slowly opens up to the crusaders even saying he would die fighting with them because he received the wake up call that was the pet shop fight, In that fight he learns to own up and mature as a crusader. After the fight he opens up, not only because he has nothing better to do except getting laid with other dogs but also due to him having conquered his instincts. The song later ends slowly just like his death, bleeding out saving his friends... Iggy is underrated and my personal favourite crusader.
