OMG, this is a GORGEOUS house---my only critique is the guest bath/powder room is not at the entrance nor is there a closet upon entry. But the colors in the kitchen are stunning. And I love a kitchen sink under a window and not in the island. Stunning!
$490 per square foot. Wow, I didn't know the market could bare that in any part of Alabama. My parents live in Alabama. You are getting up there to Atlanta Metro pricing! Good for you all!!!! Love the home and the quality is superior with inset cabinets and those stunning floors along with the masonry fireplace. Carport though?
It’s a lovely home. Love the details. But not for a million plus. I understand inflation but can I get some acreage please? No place for a gym, pets, recreation room, man cave, etc, plus neighbors. Not much privacy.
Just gorgeous. Perfect touches. I would change little. Prices are insane nowadays all over. Materials cost so much. This looks built to last a good while. Someone pointed out no mud room etc and I would change that to add one.
This is VERY well done for a new home with the feel of an old home. The wider trim between paired windows as if they were accomodating pocket weights of an old double hung window is a really nice touch.
Yup! Buy the house and you are also buying the law that forbids women to have an abortion or use reproductive technology! It is also one of the poorest states in the country! There is no middle class in Alabama or Mississippi for that matter! The people are either extremely poor or Uber wealthy! I couldn’t live there!
Nice, but way over priced!I I don't think it will sell for over 700,000 and I feel that's a little over what I think it's worth. And I hate the walkway and driveway, and parking pad.. looks to me they did this to save money .
This has to be a joke. In Alabama? It has no garage and no pool. Who on earth would pay that kind of money for THIS? It’s not that nice. I was thinking the money would be in the pool but since there isn’t one, this is absolutely ridiculous. I can’t imagine this actually being worth any more than $500-$650k. Unless you’re really into hurricanes, tornadoes and high humidity. Yuck! But hey… you did a great tour and I’m giving you a thumbs up.
Is that land next to it also for sale... I would purchase that also to add garage space and a side yard with pool and detached guest house... now it worth the full asking possibly 200K more
Problem is Fairhope is considered an upscale cutesy area near Mobile AL. So a hefty price is added for location. It was listed as a top retirement community in the Wall St Journal at one time I believe or some other publication. But a friend of mine just built a 3200 sf ft home in Mississippi in a country club community also very upscale for the area. His all in price was $725k. Similar to this house with all the bells and whistles. I own a vacation condo in Orange Beach AL in a boating community and I paid $150k in 2014 now they are going for near $450k. With only 800 sq ft. No way in heck would I pay that today but as they say….location location.
$1.4 million in Alabama and I can't even have a barbecue at night in my backyard without disturbing my neighbors? No way! $1.4 million in Alabama, I better need binoculars to see my nearest neighbor's house.
I don't like the landscape stone or the driveway .that would be a lot of extra work in the summer . The light fixtures look cheap. The house is nice, but it is overpriced for the location.
Those stepping stones out the front are so out of place with the style of this house. Really disappointing. They should have had a lovely brick path matching the house. Also the shiny kitchen backsplash tiles look like plastic. They should look really high end, but they don’t for some reason……The cabinet themselves are lovely. The primary bathroom ensuite….the mirrors are more art deco and not in the style of the house. Something more simple would have looked better imo. Great tour Thankyou.
The stepping stones look like an after thought to me. I wonder if, after laying the sod, they had drainage issues down the center of that front yard. It would be interesting to see if those stones are even level, especially after a heavy rain.
That location is really nice and the house is beautiful, but that price for that square footage is absolutely ridiculous. And this type of stuff has been happening more and more and it’s sickening. However, at least he didn’t insult us by saying it was affordable like others have done.
Are you kidding? $1.4 million with ONE sink, ONE dishwasher, no sink at the "wet" bar in the kitchen. Fairhope. Are you kidding? No outside kitchen set-up. No garage.
Another narrow, useless front porch. People in the South sure like the look of the front porch, but they always build them too narrow to be of any use. And how did they get away without any railings on it? Must have lax building code officials.
Cottage style homes are known for a smaller modest porch... I do share the concerns about the railing tho 😆 My camera man almost fell off trying to get the shot.
@@MattBakerRealtor Traditionally, even cottages had deeper porches, because people used them for living. Sadly, modern homes just have them for aesthetic reasons. Residential code requires a guardrail where the drop off is 30 inches or more; that porch is more than 30 inches. Whoever owns it (and the builder) is one fall away from a lawsuit. The stairs to the front porch also requires handrails per code, since it is more than four risers high (and anyone who has seen elderly navigate stairs would know it's just a good idea). I will say this for the house, the detail work is very good. It definitely is not contractor-grade.
Marble in a shower is a nightmare! You can’t clean it like normal stone or ceramic. It’s constant resealing marble so you can clean off the lime scale. Marble stains in a shower. Porcelain or ceramic tiles or slabs is a better selection for a shower and you can select a marble pattern. I learned this the hard way. Also, for the price, the staircase is a complete miss.
Carport????????? For 1.4 million oh no. Where is the pantry, mud room, media room and back porch accessories? Small lot with questionable homes surrounding that $1.4 million home.
Thanks for the comment! Yes, there are several homes in this little surrounding area that are walking distance to the bay & a local arboretum in the $$$$$$$ price range… 😎
Sorry , but l prefer module kitchens , and way less space for cleaning . Nice narrating , though . Interesting house tour . But why is the toilet many times wedged in between the bulky sink and the coffin - like bathtub ? Why no wide window sills for big plants ? I love in every room a Blumenfenster ! Every house should have a guest toilet right near the front door ! Thanks anyway .
Honestly, there is nothing “cottage-like” about this house. It looks like every other house plan in starter neighborhoods everywhere. No charm. No trees or garden! Tacky drive and stepping stones! Such a disappointment for Fairhope! Somebody needs a to study southern architecture a bit closer.
Nothing is more annoying than to listen to a realtor/wanna be Trying to describe all the finishes on an interior when they have no business being in it. Realtors you are not designer stop acting like you know. If you don’t know the difference between marble or limestone, you need to stop.
All that money and rehab but the front porch is pitiful and there is no entry, you just walk right into the living room. Not what one would expect for a 1.5 million dollar house.
@@MattBakerRealtor I’m sure someone will buy it no doubt, house looks great, I just don’t think it’s priced accurately but when you have tens of millions of $ it doesn’t matter

1.4M for 2900sqft in freaking Alabama. Aint no way!

A car port for 1.4
