    It’s my head canon that Reacher and Blue Mountain State take place in the same universe.
    Thad is just Jacks disabled twin brother that lived in the attic, was fed zoo grade gorilla chow & Dbol pills until he broke free and sought asylum at a local college.

    Great series. I really like how Oscar Finlay's character arc is pretty much him learning to embrace his inner John McClane, thematically accentuated with him donning white sleeveless vest, and pulling off a violent bad guy kill in the finale. Also, Joe Reacher looks like a chad Todd Howard.

    Great video as always loli, thanks for giving me the push i needed to sit down and watch this show. It had been in my periphery due to enjoying Alan Ritchinson as an actor, but the moment you hit us with that spoiler warning i proceeded to pause the video and binged the show over two days. Your review nailed it on the head in terms of what makes the show work, the chemistry between the actors involved was also a highlight. If you enjoyed seeing Alan Ritchinson in a role a bit more nuanced than Thad and you don't mind dipping your toes into capeshit territory (of dubious quality) there is a stand-out episode of the live-action show Titans in season one. Episode 9 "Hank and Dawn" works pretty much as a standalone episode from the series at large, barring the first few minutes and the last scene. It has Alan Ritchinson portraying an adaption of the DC comic-book character Hawk, of Hawk and Dove fame. He puts in a great performance and while the writing is a bit melodramatic, it was a stand-out in an otherwise sort of bland/mediocre show. Definitely worth checking out if you have a spare 50 minutes to kill. Looking forward to seeing whatever you're cooking up next!

    Seen the entire series - & it definitely exceeded my expectations at some levels while it was predictable in some areas.
    Like with Chris Pratt in Terminal list, Alan too Ritchson did an incredible job portraying the main lead and so did the supporting cast - Malcom Goodwin was particularly goofy in a serious way as Reacher's partner & direct foil + Roscoe was like a tough-cop warrior goddess in every possible way.
    Also happy birthday, dear Loli !! Keep up the good work !!

    I love the first Jack Reacher movie starring Tom Cruise. I haven't read the books so I'm not put off by Tom's size compared to what Reacher is supposed to be. I feel like he perfectly embodies barely-restrained physical violence in that movie and I enjoy the investigation. Plus Pittsburgh!

    • @mustardsouls1005
      @mustardsouls1005 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the later books, it's not barely restrained. He punches a woman so hard, she died immediately. In the one punch. At another point he kills a man by shoving a gun down his throat. Im only on book 13. (Technically I just listen to it, on audible)

    • @ngultrum1
      @ngultrum1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mustardsouls1005 I don't know if these are potentially spoilers, so be a bit careful with what I'm gonna talk about later, but it gets even more unhinged.
      He's nearly superhuman later on. In the books, he's nearly 6'45, almost a Baki or Kengan character. Alan Ritchson, despite being a borderline gigachad, still is still inaccurate physique-wise due to how almost impossible it is to find a human being like that. And that's not even counting his later feats. All his muscle is made by shoveling holes for pools for a whole summer. He ricochets a bullet with his pec (albeit it being a .22 round). This one I don't remember being true or not, but it's said he was part of a military experiment where he slits someone's throat as an infant at a movie theatre.

    • @esmeecampbell7396
      @esmeecampbell7396 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ngultrum1 I know Lee Child is a British hack who writes some goofy shit about the US Military after doing no research but Jesus Christ how can anyone like the books if they're like that?
      Alan did a great job but the story was dire, very predictable, in fact so predictable I was sure a twist or two was coming for a good 3 or 4 episodes before the end but nothing changed, there was a moment where Roscoe should have known that the corrupt cop was corrupt but instead went back to him after he was the only other person who knew the safehouse and it got blown? Like what the fuck she's meant to be smart... there's plenty of god awful lines that make no sense "the way he used that headbutt, they were clearly Brazilian Special Forces" (what.... there isn't a specific "Brazilian way" to headbutt someone much less a Brazilian military specific way of doing it
      But bouncing a .22 off a pec? (.22 is almost as lethal as .45acp in reality, a massive study on the number of fatal shootings showed that unless you go all the way up to a 12 gauge buckshot you've really got roughly the same chance of killing someone with a .22, 9mm, .357 magnum or .45acp and a .44 magnum only gave a couple percent more chance to kill for many fewer rounds per reload) it really doesn't matter how big you are getting shot sucks unsurprisingly really when you think about it.
      Killing someone with one punch is reasonably possible even for an average man punching another average sized man, it can happen accidentally without even intending to but killing someone by shoving a gun down their throat? It just makes it sound like nonsense comic book shit written by kids.
      The Tom Cruise version I think actually fits better, nobody expects a relatively short normal looking bloke to be a high level former police officer, the whole thing about "Jack Reacher needs to be big" well...no...he doesn't "need" to be, it's an affectation. Jack Reacher is big the same way Poirot is Belgian, it isn't important to the plot, people know Poirot can speak English so it's not like they confess to murder assuming he wouldn't understand them that isn't why he's a "great detective" and it isn't like we assume all short people to be smart thus all big people must be dumb, if anything it's kind of lazy to just have every villain always underestimate Jack Reacher and always say "don't worry about that big dumb gorilla he won't be a problem" every single time, even if they've never heard of him before it just makes every villain look not that smart.
      Tom's version was believably smart, it came across as a guy who joined up young coming from a military family where excellence was expected not rewarded, and that he got far in the military quickly then pissed off one person when it came to the "politics" of being higher up and became disillusioned with the whole thing and just decided to leave and become a drifter. His "you don't find Jack Reacher, he finds you." introduction was iconic. Alan was doing what he could with the script but this version felt more like "shit the Jason Bourne films did really well, lets make Bourne but tall." so he rocks up everywhere, and people either immediately hate him for no reason or like him for no reason, then everything randomly personally involves him (like he came to Georgia completely unaware that his brother was also working there, complete coincidence he was murdered just days before...) and then instantly knows everything (including aforementioned things which are totally unknowable or impossible to determine in reality and make no sense) just wild guesses which are stated like he somehow knows them to be facts when he couldn't possibly, while also being clueless and naive of obviously untrustworthy people who in some cases have provably betrayed you yet his gigabrain couldn't work it out because we need an end of episode cliff hanger...

    Since I've watched the videos you mentioned about revenge, I would like to recommend an anime named Gun X Sword (no, it's not a hentai of a gun and a sword).
    Basically, it's a mecha anime about a man named Van who's searching for a man with a claw to kill him after he killed his fiance during Van's wedding with her.
    Van after saving a town is followed by a girl named Wendy to find her brother after he got kidnapped by the Claw.
    At first the anime has its conflict of characters telling Van that revenge isn't the way, until the later half of the anime where there's a twist on what the Claw's objective really is.

If she at least apologized for the outburst later on, it would have been fine, but instead it festered into a terribly uncalled for "girlboss" moment.
    Conversely, I was elated that despite the fact that race comes up several times in the show, there is never a moment of racism. At no point does anyone get lectured about how evil their skin color is, and it was a goddamn breath of fresh air.

    A friend of mine was trying to tell me how the Jack Reacher movie is good, I wasn't too interested until he linked me to the payphone scene. That and Werner Herzog sold it for me, and because the movie was good I watched the series and was surprised how much I liked it.

    Yes, it was good, watch it. I don't think we could wish for another Season with them, given " terrible writers with Modern Sensibilities and 'The Message' necessary shrug..." But I love reading, and never had found this before. I've started it after seeing this, watched the cruise movies just for the action movie without the wokeness. Thanks for your review.

      Just cringe man.. You're very much misinterpreting the show plus S2 was already confirmed.

    Just finished the series, which I very much enjoyed.
    But man, Ep5 was a low point. From Neagley's "when a woman says no, she means no" moment to the absolute whiplash later on with the cop car incident. You have a man, after regretfully killing his partner, choosing to commit suicide by drowning while praying to God to protect his family in a police cruiser one moment. Just to have Reacher and Neagley escape said police cruiser, look at the lake, to each other then say, "You don't mess with the Special Investigators" like it's some cheesey 80s tv show. The absolute tonal whiplash that was that moment, almost made me turn off the TV and not continue the series.

    I know he doesn't seem to bad now, but if you read the books, he gets psychopathic sometimes. He punched a woman so hard she died immediately. He also kills a man by shoving a gun down his throat and leaving it there.

    Credit to BMS Enjoyers in the comments. One of the last good, high energy & feel good cult comedy series that wouldn't get greenlit anymore where the main cast are chads and a show that literally noone gives credit to.
