I think that’s a great idea for an update video ! For the most part, it’s still a very handy, 2 in 1 bed ! Kids go crazy for it when friends are over. 8 years old is a perfect age to get it because he’s probably still not tall enough to bonk his head accidentally when using the desk. My daughters tall now so she has to be super careful getting up
I believe you can assemble it in a lot of combinations but you really have to pay attention to the illustrations on the manual. Before you build it you need to make sure that is EXACTLY they way you want it! 😂 in short, yes I think you can! I hope that helps! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
4:10 I know what it’s like to have such a lamp. It takes too much desk space. I would highly recommend getting a lamp with a smaller stand which is round. That way loading several books, a pencil holder, even a laptop will be able to be put on the desk (well, at least most of what I have mentioned). Not bad of a lamp though since it gives good brightness. One big smash on the like button from me!

Due to this... lovely economy we live in, I'm an adult still living with my parents and my room is tiny, and I don't have a good space for a desktop PC so I was thinking about getting something like this to replace my current bed. And hey, comes with more storage! Always a good thing. Considering that you had no problem getting into the bed, I take it that this is just as suitable for adults in general? It looks very cozy. This is something I'm thinking about only in the long-term. In the short term I don't need it, but in the future if I need to make more floor space, you'd recommend this regardless of age or height?
I definitely recommend this bed! Uses vertical space and has a lot of storage! Especially if you are going to be using the desk , it’s a no brainer! 👍🏼🙂
I believe there are 3 versions! But the only difference is the number of desk drawers! 3 drawers (2 smaller ones and 1 larger one) , 2 drawers ( 2 larger ones) or no drawers at all! I got the version with 3 desk drawers! Yes I believe they all come with the drawer under the wardrobe! Hope that helps!!🙏🏻

I just bought this bed for my daughter. Do the directions explain how change the orientation so the closet and the ladder are in the left side and not the right side?
You really have to pay attention to the directions in the manual!😅 Before you start assembling the bed look at the picture they are showing you. IKEA doesn’t use words so you really need to see if the picture shown is what you want your bed to look like. They will show a picture and if that’s what YOU WANT you continue and if it’s NOT it will say go to page 10 and start from there. This also applies for the desk underneath, if you want it parallel under the bed or to side. They give you a lot of options and show you on the manual so make sure it’s what you want! I hope that helps! 🙏🏻♥️
I'm 5'1 but I'm trying to change the look in my room and trying something new, since I want something that also has a desk for my electronics. Thanks for the recommendation of the floor protector. But do you think that an adult like myself who's 5'1 tall can fit on the bed?? I normally got a twin adult bed but that bed looks more smaller since it is for saving space in the bedrooms as well. Also I am worried about how much weight it can handle since I do move alot when I'm sleeping.
Hey! Sorry for the late reply but I think this bed would be amazing for you! I’m 5’10” & 175 lbs and have slept on it comfortably! Even with my older daughter , Audrina, when she had a bad dream or just wanted to cuddle! She’s like 50 lbs , so the both of weights weren’t a factor! I think the max load is like 250 - 300 lbs! They only thing I would really recommend is getting a mattress less than 8 inches so you have good amount of bed frame for peace of mind. I hope this helps!🤞🙂

This particular bunk bed is designed to have a desk underneath and they’re all interconnected together to provide stability in the structure as a whole. IKEA definitely has other bunk bed options that has a lounge like area for the bottom which can be a safer option. Look up the product “KURA”. It looks really nice ! And kid friendly as well !
Yes ! The mattress length is the universal size in length like a normal double size bed. Just be careful with the ceiling! Our ceiling is 8ft and I’m 5’10. it’s enough space in between but for your height, just be careful
Hows it holding up after 2 years. I read the odd review about the slats bowing due to it being mdf and not solid wood. but also humidity issues with the slats trapping moisture between the mattress. Lastly, some say the ladder had durability issues.
Interesting to know ! Out of the people who decide to buy this bed, a lot were adults based on the comments here. My daughter is 13 now, and the bed slats are still strong; however, she doesn't weigh as much as an adult. She only uses the bed for sleeping. If other activities are done on the bed or if there’s a lot of people are on it or jumping on it, there’s always the possibility of the slats bowing depending on factors like that. We have the MALM bed in our master bedroom, which we've been sleeping in for five years. Screws may fall out lol but the wood remains strong. Both beds seem to be made from the same material. Ultimately, it depends on the environment in terms of humidity. You could have a heavy-duty bed with solid wood slats, but if there's a leak or humidity issues going on in the room, the bed could be affected by that-not necessarily because of the bed itself. I do admit, though, that the ladder tends to creak when we step on it, though not as much for our lighter kids. Nothing seems loose, though. Out of all the IKEA bunk beds, I find this one to be the strongest and most secure. For what it’s worth, I made sure to tighten everything and build it properly. It took me the whole day, but I wanted to be confident it would hold up well!

Like u, I also had a lamp bed for years with ko complaints. I even re assembled it a number of times for three different moves and it was fine. The slats issue I can see happening only because it's particle board and not the solid pine slats that are used for most other beds. I've never had a bed with these kind of slats. They do give a bit when you put pressure on them so i can definitely see them bow with enough weight. End of the day my daughter is 7 so I think her size and weight won't do much if any wear and tear on the bed or the ladder lol. We told her only one person at a time is allowed up there. Sucks for when she has friends over but too bad lol

Full size mattress ?? It’s the same as double size so yes a full would fit but it’s not included! It’s very sturdy! (if built correctly) 😂 I believe Ikea does do assembly but they charge extra! Hope this helps! I would definitely recommend though ! 👍🏼
It’s called VADSO at ikea. Make sure the thickness of the mattress you get for this bed is max 6-7 inches. We wanted to repurpose her old mattress but it was 9 inch and that’s too thick and high especially for younger kids

8 months!!! I’m sooo sorry must of missed the comment but I always do my best to respond! I actually bought the mattress from this video at Ikea, as long as it’s a twin/double/full mattress with the height under 8 inches you should be good to go! I would recommend even something smaller in height like 7 inches to be safe! We threw gave away a new mattress we had because it was 9 inches tall! The height of the bed is about 6 feet / 72 inches / 183 cms tall! I really hope this helps! 🙏🏻♥️
@ just doesn’t marry up with the holes , I have some sort of brace which lines up but the expansion pole doesn’t bolt in to them. I might have to go back to Ikea and take a picture of how it’s assembled as I didn’t get any instructions, wish I could send you a picture or a video of what I mean 😢

Hey! Yes, the desk is included, along with everything else you see in the video. You’ll need to assemble the desk with the bed. In my opinion, it helps hold everything together and adds stability. I’m not sure if you can leave the desk out and keep the bottom area vacant-it would be interesting, but I think it’s safest to assemble it as intended with the desk included :)
We’ve had this bed for a year now and we haven’t had any problems with the latter. Nothing loose and still very sturdy. Kids go on it during play and even adults too 😅 I think it’s super important to just make sure it’s build well with a lot of strength and to take your time!

Hello this looks amazing, infact I have ordered one and now I think my room wont accommodate it even. Can you please tell me whats the measurement of the width of the non ladder side, basically I know ikea says width is 104cms but does that include the ladder side, as my wall with the door might obstruct. I wouldn’t recommend it because the desk adds support to the bed in my opinion! But I have read comments of people not including the desk and are content! For safety purposes I would just add it , there are a few ways to install it and maybe that would work better for you? Hope that helps! 🙏🏻

Unfortunately it won’t! The boxes are long so we had to borrow my father-in-laws van! Also there are a lot of boxes! You should watch our previous video to see us bring the boxes home! Hope that helps! 🙏🏻
The bed is perfect for 6 year olds. They’ll be able to climb and sleep there safely also, they’ll have more homework so the desk feature would be nice. My daughter was 9 when we bought it and it was only a year after until she got tall and would have to watch her head when standing up after sitting on her desk. That was the only thing to be mindful of when they get older and taller
I wished to ask if your daughter used to go down on those stairs. As it is the only thing which stops us to buy it. If kid decides to go to toilet in the night, if it is easy to get off the bed.

I believe the max weight supported is 220 lbs / 100 kg. As long as they aren’t jumping up there they should be fine! 😅

No we didn’t, and you don’t need to! This bed is really strong and sturdy. Hardly shakes even when you have a bunch of kids playing on it

I built two of these in the same room… was hard work and I’m still having trouble putting the clothes pole in 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

@ just doesn’t marry up with the holes , I have some sort of brace which lines up but the expansion pole doesn’t bolt in to them. I might have to go back to Ikea and take a picture of how it’s assembled as I didn’t get any instructions, wish I could send you a picture or a video of what I mean 😢
hi! i have a question about this exact bed. i saw this in ikea and i was thinking about getting this, but i was wondering if the desk was included with it? like do you have to build the desk with the bed?
Hey! Yes, the desk is included, along with everything else you see in the video. You’ll need to assemble the desk with the bed. In my opinion, it helps hold everything together and adds stability. I’m not sure if you can leave the desk out and keep the bottom area vacant-it would be interesting, but I think it’s safest to assemble it as intended with the desk included :)

Have you had any issues with the latter? I’ve read negative reviews on the latter stripping from the frame?
We’ve had this bed for a year now and we haven’t had any problems with the latter. Nothing loose and still very sturdy. Kids go on it during play and even adults too 😅 I think it’s super important to just make sure it’s build well with a lot of strength and to take your time!

Hi, how thick were the mattress?
7 inches. We had a 9 inch from her old bed and it was too high and got the 7 inch for safety reasons

Hello this looks amazing, infact I have ordered one and now I think my room wont accommodate it even. Can you please tell me whats the measurement of the width of the non ladder side, basically I know ikea says width is 104cms but does that include the ladder side, as my wall with the door might obstruct. Thanks in advance
Sorry for the late reply! But the non-ladder side is 104cm while the side WITH the ladder is 112 cm! Hope it fits ! 🙏🏻😅

Can u get it without the desk
I wouldn’t recommend it because the desk adds support to the bed in my opinion! But I have read comments of people not including the desk and are content! For safety purposes I would just add it , there are a few ways to install it and maybe that would work better for you? Hope that helps! 🙏🏻

About how long did it take, we are getting ours delivered Friday and was curious.
Nice ! It took me about 5 hours of straight work by myself but my whole day was busy doing an ikea run for a missing part and assembling her chair as well. I have a video of me building everything on my channel if you want to see the time lapse. Have fun !

Yes it can because the bed mattress is the universal size for length
Although in terms of the desk if you’re using it, just make sure you be careful and not bonk your head ! The top bunk though, our ceiling is 8ft and I’m 5’10. it’s enough space in between but for your height, just be careful to not hit your head

Unfortunately it won’t! The boxes are long so we had to borrow my father-in-laws van! Also there are a lot of boxes! You should watch our previous video to see us bring the boxes home! Hope that helps! 🙏🏻

The bed is perfect for 6 year olds. They’ll be able to climb and sleep there safely also, they’ll have more homework so the desk feature would be nice. My daughter was 9 when we bought it and it was only a year after until she got tall and would have to watch her head when standing up after sitting on her desk. That was the only thing to be mindful of when they get older and taller

I wished to ask if your daughter used to go down on those stairs. As it is the only thing which stops us to buy it. If kid decides to go to toilet in the night, if it is easy to get off the bed.
