I was able to convert a DVD to MKV but no other format that I've tried works. MP4 and AVI both fail with the 'unable to convert file' error. I haven't done anything except load the DVD, select the profile and click Run. This on Windows 10. nVidia GPU and hardware acceleration checked.
VideoProc Converter is capable software, but the nagging popups make using it extremely annoying. The popups have a link that says, "Don't show this again", but it doesn't work - the popups continue to appear every time you run the app. For this reason, I don't recommend this app.
Hi GlitchEmpire. I think the best quality for a dvd would actually be an mkv file as it is a lossless format. However some devices can't play mkv and the file sizes are bigger. As for a mp4 format, I think the standard mp4 profile is best for a DVD. Click on the "target format" button and scroll down to "General Profiles." Select the first option "MP4 Video (H264), Standard MP4 file format." I would also adjust the LQ & HQ quality levels. You can make more changes by clicking on the little gear icon once the profile has been added to the target format area.
