Oof, not doing the IaMP case? Really stacking the deck against you here. That one would have been an easy win. Seeing Guitarap lead you along step by step here is almost cruel. Describing the Hourai Elixir as 'a little Grimace Shake' is going to be sending me for days. Your analysis of the function of the Hourai Elixir's function brings up an interesting point. Kaguya's ability to hold onto individual moments may be the reason why her hair is still dark unlike Eirin and Mokou, whose physical forms reflect the nature of their souls. That (probably) doesn't make her immortality any more functional than the others though. The events of Cage in Lunatic Runagate aren't something that happens in this series, but oddly enough the series more or less assumes you have read it so that it can contrast the events of the series against it. This is likely one of the hardest if not the hardest case in the series, with an incredibly convoluted plot composed of so many layers it will actually show up later suggesting that several later cases may actually have something to do with Eirin's long-term plans. Your Yandere Eirin guess at the end isn't a bad read, as it's one potential way you might interpret the ending of this case depending on what your believe Eirin's motivations to be. The important thing to remember is that for any given case Renko's theories are just that -her theories. It's something that gets discussed in more detail in later cases but these novels have an interesting take for detective stories in assuming that at least part of what the great detective deduces is always going to be incorrect. Exactly what is wrong and where though... well that's left up to the reader to decide. At any rate, I appreciate you adding the outro sequence at the end with your reaction to Renko's solution. It's nice to see the way the stories affect readers once the trick is revealed.
