Yeah, I am trying to prioritise this years Lego sets rather then cool fake stuff as I have a big commitment near the end of the year that will use up most of my money haha
I also had the MTT - fake version. It is a very good option because the original one is way too expansive now on the 2nd market. Some sets are worth to buy fake even if they are still available (some of the UCS sets for example, the Venator is 1/3 of the price, if you can't afford the original one, the fake one is an alternative - that one comes with numbered bags as far as I know).
Debating on getting the MTT myself, along with obi-wans interceptor! Is it really worth it? How do the pieces hold up? Does it feel close to official quality?
It’s not fake Lego per say it’s “legally distinct plastic building blocks” but in my opinion fake Lego is pretty good sometimes And cheaper than real Lego mostly the only problem is it’s non authentic and the resale is sometimes lower because it lacks the seal And the instructions are like reading Mandarin Chinese as a baby also where can I get that ft-t? It looks very nice
I build a lot of “fake” LEGO and I personally think it is great. I’ve never had a problem with the builds BUT I have had problems with authentic LEGO. I’ve had missing pieces etc!…never had that with alternative LEGO sets. It’s a shame that people put it down all the time! LEGO is so expensive these days and it is definitely no better than the alternative companies.
Can't do it personally, but to each his own. I'm a self admitted purist and want nothing else in my collection. Lego is expensive and definitely has priced some people out. But it also holds it's value pretty well and more times than none if you take care of it and keep the sets complete, you can always get back what you paid to get it.
For me fake Legos can be useful especially if your make animations you can use them as dead bodies or getting destroyed instead of original legos getting damaged.
Yeah that’s a good idea! With me if I like the set but can’t afford the original on the after market then I’ll go buy a really good fake, still the same model still looks exactly the same but it doesn’t have Lego logo on every stud
i pretty much only buy fake lego now, ive bought four sets none of which ive had instruction book problems with so i presume i got lucky, or you got unlucky. I've only had 2 missing pieces in >8000 pieces ive bought so thats amazing. the quality is perfectly good for me. i can tell theres a difference but not so much that i dont enjoy it.
yeah, It's definitely going to knock lego back to reality. its come along way since 5 years ago. i have Minifigures from the days of terrible offbrand lego and i cant even get the arms on.
I had to get a fake ucd b-wing bomber as I was not going to pay 580€ an I also know that there is very little chance of a rere. Cost me 80€ and after sorting was a great build using lego instructions, got the sticker sheet and original canopy and I'm very happy with it
i remember getting a masive fake lego ijn yamato set and it didnt come with numbered bags for 8717 peaces, wilst it was a struggle with no numbered bags all the items were mostly pre sorted into liked bricks in bags if their was enough of them, for example all black 2by1 peaces being in its own bag. so i just seporated each into thier own takeaway pot. was a bit stressful finding which was the right pot to look in but still a fun time and yea dont think lego would make their offical set of that. for price it was around £300-400 which is pricy but for 8000+ peaces a proper steal
My got myself the fake ventor a whole back. The issue is Lego has priced out alot of people. Fake lego looks great but i wouldn't say its a useable model. Definitely display only but for £19 its great. The thing is, its not lego and the experience you get with real lego is amazing. I just finished building the Lego Nascar which i picked up for £25 and wow.
It’s definitely the building experience and the fact that it says Lego on the box that makes it special, it’s such a weird dynamic but yeah I don’t mind fake or real
I think if you made this video only a few years ago, everybody in the comments would be getting so angry at you for buying fake Lego. Now it seems like everyone is doing it
@@GrantHendry-pl1ev 100%, I’ve been a serious collector for years and this year I am so close to calling it quits, it’s becoming very expensive for an average product

Is it just me (I might be color blind) or is the bridge light on that venedor purple? Lol, i would probably just swap what looks like just two translucent one-b-one bricks for light blue. It would probably make it look even cooler, awesome price, and looks great!

Thanks dude! Yeah my first ucs was the 2023 X-Wing and it’s still my favourite. My rarest fig is either a 1/100 Ahsoka minifigure or Princess Amidala sw0387
An amazing looking room mate. My brother has started buy sets out of China - fraction of the price and he thinks the quality is up there. Lego need to come to the party a bit to reward the loyal lego purchasers. Have an awesome day!💥From Fun At Home (Hot Wheels, Lego, Cards, Stamps & collectables)👍
Yeah I think a lot of people are starting to realise that Lego is overpriced but you do pay for experience and building quality. But at the end of it both sets weather one cost £20 and the other cost £100+ they both turn out looking the same when on display
My main issue with fake Lego is that your money is completely burnt, you will never see that money again. Official Lego holds its value and maybe even makes you money long term. With fakes the more you buy the more you essentially loose, definitely better off refining a small genuine Lego collection.
Well, I have sold all my previous fake Lego sets on the second hand market and they all sell for what I bought them for or sometimes more, it depends really as I only really buy fake Lego sets that Lego haven’t made themselves, so it holds its value as it’s something you can’t buy from Lego
It also depends on tohr personal interest. Massive moc builders will probably benefit from proper lego bricks as some other brands mixed in might have a different colour or quality. But someone displaying and playing probably won't mind. Also they might not choose to sell it 😁
i like the fake lego stuff. i understand why you would want to distance yourself from it a bit though from your position.
