- In this episode of the route learning series, we take a journey along a route that at least in part no longer exists! This is the West Croydon to Wimbledon line as it was just before closure in 1997. Parts of the route were later utilised for the Croydon Tramlink which opened in the year 2000. This route is available as a freeware route from Backdated Trainsim.

HES BACK AGAIN
I do like this route - short but sweet. Love the way the developer(s?) have captured that dilapidated feel in the route. I'm quite a regular user of the Croydon Tramlink and part of me does miss this quaint line. Parts of the scenery were run down and industrial, yet one or two parts looked like the line was running through a chocolate box village.

The name "Sir Cosmo Bonsor" which is carried by this unit in the simulation refers to Sir Henry Cosmo Orme Bonsor, a major promoter of the Tattenham Corner branch line. He lived in Kingswood on that branch, was MP for Wimbledon in the late 1800s and was Chairman of the South Eastern Railway for a period.

Found this route today on Backdated Trainsim while looking for something else and remembered you’d covered it. Luckily I’d recently purchased the 456 in the Xmas sales.

Really enjoyed the past 2 videos, hope you're able to keep it up! :) Would definitely love to see you do the whole of the WCML in a video, since I've watched the ECML one twice now. Maybe I'll watch it a 3rd time soon to celebrate your return, who knows. Would be cool to see a route learning video in the AP 80X EP at some point too, but I know you're not taking suggestions atm, so it's only an idea is all. Just glad to see you're back. Looking forwards to more videos again, as and when you're able to of course.
Two in one day? You spoil us, sir! Great to see you back ^_^ and what a fascinating reconstruction of this little route! I was born and part raised in South London, so the Tramlink and the former routes of it are fascinating to me - especially given they closed relatively late, and were converted over. This is a great replica of the original West Croydon to Wimbledon route; I wonder if a Woodside and South Croydon Railway pack is in the works from these guys along a similar theme?

I used to live opposite Mitcham Junction station back in the BR days. They've done a pretty good job recreating the route.

really do love these videos, the different camera angles remind me of video125 films. honestly i might do something similar, you've definitely inspired me!
In my earlier videos you only really saw the outside of the train when it wasn’t moving stopped at stations. A number of people commented that they’d love to see more external shots of the train moving, and this is the result. Driving from the outside wouldn’t work when not using the HUD, and so I took Video 125 as an inspiration for this! :)

Hi I am a qualified train test driver I don't wait for rear if the train to pass speed post as I've bn highly trained to drive to speeds above normal speeds as I did on the 10/4/21 125 drove at 145 im the best got qualifications higher .
Please, enlighten us all - what did your training involve? What route did you pull this feat of driving at 145mph on, and what train were you in? What were the special rules required for signalling?
Could you maybe do a route learning on the cathcart circle on tsw2? Theres a few spt livery class 314s on creator club just for extra variety

I also have this game on train simulator 2022 except I've cleared it full of graffiti, grass on the platforms and i drive a class 313 in NSE Livery because I can't get the class 456 in Connex Livery
