    What you show in this video is a glow of your character.
    It's not only the result of what you do, but also the process of it and what's going on in your head.
    You have a lot of followers who will help you with their best meaned advice.
    Also that for you to overthink.
    Of course there are moments of doubt and feelings of discourages.
    But with your character, your determination, willpower and some good advice of others you will succeed.

The premise of the group is, if while drinking a bit, thinking about the project and if it starting to look good through one eye (remember drinking a bit) and in the morning it looks like it will work with two eyes (sober) then it might be the way to go. Suggest bring the bottle with you to one eye these tasks in the evening before the next day with two eyes.

    Hi Michelle Sorry for the late response and advice . you may be beyond this solution .but watching you getting those heavy items down that slop[e by the steps . my solution would; be clearing the grade and slope to the right of the stairs get a electric winch on the front bumper of your truck. when using it park near the ramp and control the weight with the winch. a controlled decent would make the work so much easier .

    Hey Michelle! You should have a short discussion and a tall glass of wine with Shawn. He'll get your mood back on the level. Set backs and minor injuries are an unfortunate part of the experience. Go home and hop in the hot tub (with another glass of wine) and recuperate all your troubles away. Try looking at the lockers as if they're just a piece of 'furniture'. Give it a good steel toed boot! It will add flair! Focus on the building and move the furniture around over the next two years until it's "just right!" The Michygoss Way!

    Some days you're the chainsaw...some days you're the broken screw. Chasing bubbles can be challenging. I was setting some island cabinets a few weeks ago and just about threw my level into its next life when I realized that the floor was shifting with my weight (180 plus tool belt) when standing on different sides of the island. Some projects diligently search for new ways to poke you in the butthole. The good news is, it is spring and the birds have only one thing on their minds. Your song fell on sidetracked ears. :)

    You no the greatest thing about a wood stove is it's ability for long lasting heat, your gonna hate me for my idea after the struggle down the grade with lockers but, to build a stove down there looking over that view that you have would be awesome. Let me expand, with an oven built with a real fire brick that retains heat all night long and is an oven for the cabin , and is actually not even in the cabin, not taking any space inside, leaving for more room....What a plus .... Just an idea,... I can't wait to to see the finale for the cabin on the the cliff with the Million Dollar view...Contemplate that idea because when it comes right down to that stove can't conduct heat like a fire brick oven can all night long. And for needing a little help it's not like committing defeat, you'd be surprised, what you could get done, with a little help, and your still the boss. its hard to keep winging it by your self.👍

    im worried about the cabin staying upright. esp with the potential snow load and winds and being on a cliff side. I know you know this but, houses are nailed together because they'd never pass inspection if they were screwed together, because screws break. I know that they make "structural" screws now but theyre literally 5 times as expensive as nails and still wouldn't pass inspection. and houses are built with the studs 16" O/C not only so the sheetrock doesn't get wavy over time, but also because there needs to be a certain amount of nails in every sheet of plywood on the exterior, and having studs at 2' O/C would delete a quarter of the nails. most codes require a sheet of exterior plywood be nailed 1' O/C in the field and 6" O/C along the edges. those nails are what keep the house from falling down. im not trying to be condescending, because it's not my intention, but, I see a lot of DIY content creators ignoring basic construction and wood working rules not only because they dont understand what a king, trimmer, cripple, collar tie and common rafter are and think screws are stronger than nails, but also because there's a certain self importance that comes with the "DIY/maker" title, and false idea that construction workers are not DIY and had to learn from someone else, therefore their methods are irrelevant. I know that you dont fall under that category, but I think it's important to not ignore. please forgive me if you've thought about all that and have it all penciled out.

    Don't be down hearted, you will always have days when things just don't flow. Stick with it. Great views across the lake for the sunset and the sun rise! Why not just bolt the lockers to the wall and lift them clear of the floor. If you do not lift the lockers they may touch on the floor. You need to go and buy a second chain, then when you hit some metal you can just change it for the sharp one and take the chains home with you to sharpen on an other day!

      I was saying that exact thing to myself last time out there. (Second chain)

    Screw the lockers to the studs at the top so they basically hang

  • @Xero1of1

    18:37 You can let the back of the lockers float. You've got the wood under the lockers giving some support to the bottom, so shim the front, screw it down, then screw the top to the board in the back. The screws there will relieve the weight of lockers so they don't deform due to not having a shim at the back.
    You're doing well and it'll be fine. :)

      In your own words, you are impatient, determined and stubborn.
      Those traits are what help you achieve all that you do. In that sense, they are qualities.
      The other side of that coin is; those traits make it difficult to grant that one small person Grace.
      Just an observation, never a judgement.
      I appreciate and admire you and your videos.
      Don’t ever think that they, or you, are anything less than wonderful.

    Locker should be inside and secured to the wall for thermal conductivity at minimum. As long as your floor is stable and level it shouldn't need much to prevent it from tipping.

    If the lockers are plumb, leave them plumb and try to plumb up the back wall. The locker doors will operate better if the lockers are plumb.

    People always talk about how the Egyptians, Inca, Rapa Nui and Mayans built their structures (and many others). The proof is right here. If you have the drive and desire people can make anything happen. Michy moved lockers probably twice her weight with just ropes and off the shelf climbing gear and a whole lot of drive or passion. Not the safest decision but if you want something done....

    I'm not clear on why the lockers need to fit tight to the wall. Just for securing? Couldn't you just shim and add some trim to cover gaps, either at the floor or along the walls?
    BTW, when you look up 'stubborn' in the dictionary, it's says 'see Michy'.

      Because I’m not building this cabin in any proper way, I was trying/hoping I could use the lockers and their strength as a structural component to the back wall, as well as a stand alone aesthetic feature of the cabin.

    You are going to injure yourself, never stand ahead of a very heavy object that could fall on you. Think in geometry terms and use geometry to figure out how to move an object safely. Think safety. Build a sled and tie it to those lockers. Then use your ropes to belay it down the slope with you out of the way. I always use devices to make these things safer to do. Use a plumb bob on the vertical, it will tell you if the lockers are out. My guess is the horizontal 2x is bowed. Full marks for your attitude, l admire it so much.

    • @michygoss7148
      @michygoss7148  ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried to stay above the lockers but they kept digging into the snow and wouldn’t move. I had no choice but to guide them down.

    • @mauriceryton
      @mauriceryton ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michygoss7148 thus build a sled out of 4x4's, taper the fronts of them just like a skid. Even attach longer 2x4's to the front angle to gain a height advantage in comparison to that snow and ice. Takes little time but gives you the advantage over the lockers etc.. You are now in a much safer position and can belay them down. You could make a couple and store them for future use. As l age l can no longer lift the things l used to just pickup and carry. Now l use things to work to my advantage. A heavy duty flat dolly to roll heavier items onto my truck using ramps. The list goes on. I walk things along using the corners and twisting the item from corner to corner. Slower but easier and the end result is the same. I get what l want into place. A little tip on squaring corners, use the 3,4,5 method. In the corner measure 3’ one way then four feet the other. If the connecting distance from those two points is five feet you are square. Keep up the good work you are doing great. Kudos to you.

    Re: Lockers…can’t you just mount it to the wall when you get the wall completed? It would only require 3-6 screws at the top/back only…and not mounting them to the floor at all.

      And before that I would slide the lockers to one side, put the flooring down up to the lockers then slide it up on the new floor.
