Dude, you're living the dream! I can't think of a more fun or satisfying way of making a living than traveling around, trying whatever martial art interests me, all while entertaining and educating an enthusiastic audience. I have no doubt that it's very hard work, too, but anything in life worth excelling at won't come easy. Happy holidays to you and yours, Sensei Seth, and thanks again for the years of entertainment!
I’d love to see some more history on martial arts. The videos that have someone there telling you about the history of their sport are always a good time
Honestly the Abe Wrestling vídeo is my favourite video not just of seth but I think of 2024 too. Its weird other people didn't love it aswell. The expert was amazing
Sanda was absolutely my favorite that you've tried so far. Since you gave that some representation, I have gone down some Sanda rabbit holes lol, I wish there was somewhere I could learn even within an hour and a half of where I live but it's sort of a hidden gem in my opinion.
You uploaded the Kyokushin video 1 month exactly before I started training on it, and it pumped me. I only did TKD, Shotokan, Kung Fu and BJJ before, and it is the hardest style I ever done.
Sensei Seth is a guaranteed Top 5 of favourite YTubers, I don't't even have a list, but it's a no-brainer. Being able to travel and train all these different styles with incredible martial artists is the dream for so many of us. So thank you for allowing us to "experience" a bit of it through your eyes. Osu!
I actually loved the Abraham Lincoln/wrestling video! It's a bummer that it didn't get as many views, but I thought it was a really cool concept, and I didn't know anything about Abe's wrestling prowess before seeing it, so I found it really interesting on top of being very entertaining.
You should try if you ever get the chance (these will probably be very hard to find to train) Naganza( Apache martial arts (not just knife)), Porrazo Del Tigre(native Mexican wrestling), Huka Huka(Amazonian wrestling), Hapkido, Laamb, Engolo, Macuhuitl (Mexican obsidian sword) fighting, knocking and kicking, mau Rakau(maori club fighting), Glima, Khmer Wrestling, etc. there's tons. Love your series of trying different martial arts, and your sumo journey.
You are by far my favorite martial artist TH-cam as you are always as non biased as possible for every style you try. It gives us the best look at each style. You, to me, embody what a martial artist should be. Keep up the amazing work!
I do NOT hate the fight scene videos! Not sure why they don't perform as well, but I think they are really entertaining. I'm really into martial arts films, though, so I'll always gravitate towards that type of video. Maybe try a collaboration with the channel Scenic Fights, out of Paxibellum BJJ in NY? They mostly do shorts, but their long-form fight scene breakdowns are awesome, and they cover all kinds of martial arts styles and disciplines, not dissimilar from yourself, just more geared toward fight scene choreography in films, TV, anime, and video games.
I think folks hate the fight scenes stuff because I would imagine 80% of your viewers don't participate in martial arts and they only want to see "real" stuff. Ya know... for da streetz
Was here to comment the same thing. Stage combat is great for spatial awareness, employing clean and graceful techniques, and artistic expression. Working with martial artists in this way, I think it can help to make people more creative in their sparring as well
My favorite video: The Abe Lincoln one. Top 5* TH-camrs: 1) Renaissance Periodization 2) Papa Meat 3) Sensei Seth 4) hard2hurt 5) mmashredded 6) Knight Jiu-jitsu As a fledgling youtuber who struggles with consistency, I admire and respect your commitment to provide new videos almost every week. Usually, all different. I love it. Thanks for being you!
23:18 DEFINITELY! I watch many martial arts related youtubers but man, you are my favourite for sure. I discovered u through Jesse about 1 year ago and i've watched so much of your content. It isnt just your content that is so unique and interesting, but you are a really kind and nice man! (im subbed since 2 months on another account i have, not this one because i have blocked payments)
You, sir, are indeed one of my top 5 youtubers. Your videos are all very educational and very entertaining. For new styles to try, I could suggest two from the two countries I'm a national of: Swiss Schwingen (a form of wrestling) and Portuguese Jogo do Pau (an old long stick tradition of shepherds defending against both thieves and wolves - which have been extinct in Portugal, for decades). Just whishful thinking, they are pretty niche martial arts (I haven't even tried either myself), but would be fun to see your take on them.
Its interesting to see so many different body types. Some dudes are cut and ripped, others are dudes youd see at the local pizza place putting down their own large pizza. Some of the best instructors you had this year were women. You really show that anyone can be a fighter, and theres a style out there for you. If you dont want to get hurt, theres a style for you. if you want to play with weapons, do flips, whatever. theres a style out there for you.
Before mma was so established I used to always play the how would I build a perfect fighter game, and back then I always thought having someone grow up cross training in Sanda and Catch was the dream combo. Fun to see you rate them both so highly
Oh boy - what a year! That was a great video about a great journey. My favorites are bokh, judo tournament and the latest TATE video. And don't worry even if you're not in my top 5 favorite channels - you're definitely in top 10. I'm subscribed to over 200 channels so I think thats fair. Good luck on your journey.
Right there with you. I injured my knee and haven't trained consistently since. I feel dead and so far away from the person l was. I've put on weight and can't find my way back. It's miserable. I hope you find your path back to training.
I wish there was a gym near me that teaches Sanda. It looks like the best bang for your buck, well rounded martial art. Plus I much prefer stand up grappling/takedowns and throws than floor grappling.
Hey Seth, you may not have realized this but Erik Paulson also has his own striking style called STX kickboxing. STX meaning Savate-Thai-Cross, it combines techniques from multiple martial arts including Boxing, Panatukan, Jun Fan/JKD Kickboxing, Savate, and Muay Thai
Chess boxing is such a cool sport, cuz it so obviously started as a joke, but then went on to become genuinely cool and serious competition. Super rad how these athletes keep their composure like that. A ton of respect for these dudes.
Personal fav.: Sanda video - because I did not realy know about it and now am obsessed with it Least fav. : the abraham lincoln video - dont know why, did not really care about it sorry overall best.: sumo championship video- this one was like a movie underrated.: ninja video- it was just a fun watch But still this has to be my most visited channel this year, I dont think that there is a video you uploaded in the last 2/3 years, that I have not watched at least twice
I can't believe the fight scenes are so under appreciated! My kiddo (8) watches some videos with me and after that one, he was having everyone "hit him" before training so he could fall and make it more and more believable. I want to be that kind of limber and resilient and it looks hella cool, too! And lets be real...the videos where you're having fun, whether it be because of the style of because you're goofing off with Mike or Wonderboy...those are just as great as the deep dives, history, and serious one! All in all, keep doing what you're doing!!
sanda is so cool. my dream would be to have in in 4oz gloves. imagine the grappling techniques. also a huge fan of the new wrestling content! it's my sport and it's super cool to see you highlight it in such an entertaining and informative way
Guoshu (国术; guóshù, traditional Chinese martial arts, literally “national art”) lei tai (擂台; lèitái, traditional Chinese martial arts full-contact fighting, literally “raised platform”) is the cultural progenitor of Sanda and requires open-fingered gloves between 4 and 6 ounces, which must allow for an open hand, similar to and including, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and grappling gloves: th-cam.com/video/VYg7lGxxgqA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=D4NH93jYI3boEJ5x
The technique he referenced as the most useful is actually originally a wrestling technique called “running the pipe.” It’s basically just the standard single leg technique, snatch the leg, chop your feet, and move backwards and to the side at the same time to circle them down to the ground. I learned it as a child.
I have always enjoyed your openness to learn different styles and stay open minded oboist them. Keep up the great work and happy holidays to you and your family.
You're my #3 TH-camr, Seth. (I watch A LOT of TH-cam. It's my top entertainment source) You've motivated me to get myself back into training. I thought I was too old and too broken to get anything out of training. I just felt like I'd make an absolute ass out of myself. Now, I've got plans in place to set up my garage with bags, striking pads, and other equipment over the next year. I'm gonna slowly build my own personal studio. You and Mike are to thank. I know you probably won't read this, but thank you. Your efforts do a lot to encourage people. You're confident, but humble. You're very knowledgeable, but know well that you barely scratch the surface. Thank you so very much.
I'm in your corner with the Fight Scene videos. I've trained MMA for a good chunk of years, BJJ purple belt, and about a year and a half ago I switched to learning Tricking, Creative/Xtreme, and Tae Kwon Do. I know I'm never going to be UFC world champ, but I have so much fun learning all the flashy stuff that makes you "look like you can fight" but is totally impractical. I love making action movie shorts.
Yum Yum Yum... Thank you Seth your content sustains me! Also, definitely at least top 5. Watching your videos helped me realize I need to go back to training and am on my way to getting my 3rd degree in taekwondo. Thanks for the knowledge and entertainment!
Glad I’m genuinely glad I am subscribed to this channel. Thanks, Seth for all the time and energy you put into making this a great year of content! Here’s to a great 2025.
You're in my top 3.. for whatever it's worth to ya. I liked that keysi thing. It was interesting. Dude, and that Abe Lincoln video was awesome. I had no idea about that and I like old school American history.
Love this end of year wrap up. Do you think next year maybe we could have a peoples choice award? Might be interesting for you to see not just what gets views but what the people paying enough attention to fill in a google form had the best time with. Thought of it because your awards reminded me of the Golden Noggers Awards that OSW youtube channel do at the end of every year which is all vote in.
You and Kevin Lee are my favorite martial arts youtubers. You're skilled, open, hardworking and kind. I'd love to see you meet up with The Wandering Warrior, Randy Brown Mantis Boxing, or Sifu Gregg from Authentic Shaolin.
39:10 As for me sparring footage is a lot more exciting than fight scenes. I was always a martial artist, but over time I’ve become less enamored with the visuals of a fight scene vs the kinetic action of regular sparring footage. I like the messiness. Honestly I wish movie scenes looked more like sparring footage tbh.
As a kid, I wanted to be either a martial artist or a writer. I joined the Army for 23 years and so did NOT become a professional martial artist, but I am becoming a writer. It is so cool that you are getting to do what you love as a career. Keep going Seth!
18:35 Thank you for continuing to be open-minded and experiencing modern/sport/contemporary Wushu Taolu, Sanda, Tibetan Hop Gar, Taijiquan tuishou (推手; tuīshǒu, push hands), and Mongolian Bökh (ᠪᠥᠬ; Mongolian wrestling, literally “endurance”)! 19:59 Run the Pipe (旋压摔/下压摔; xuányāshuāi/xiàyāshuāi, whirling/downward pressing takedown)
Really enjoying your videos as my friends are getting be back into martial arts. I have done Karate, Taekwondo, and a little Muay Thai Kickboxing and BJJ, but I haven't practised for years, so these videos ignite my spirit. I have been interested in Bajiquan lately, and would love to see a video on it if you haven't done one already (haven't seen all your stuff yet lol). Best of luck in the new year Sensei!
the Abraham Lincoln one was my favorite video too it sucks that nobody watched it it's the video I most enjoyed and I enjoy all of your stuff by the way you're awesome seth
You’re top 5 for me, but no one will dethrone GameGrumps for me but you’re numba 2 ! Loved the Lincoln vid, I happened to learn more about Native American martial arts in the comments section from the guy you featured so awesome for me there. Finally, I highly recommend you try out some Kali. I practice Sayoc but there are styles not entirely based on edged weapons as well. If you’re ever in OKC,OK I know a great place you could drop in to try it out! It’s a style I feel really helped my striking as much as my self-defense confidence. Especially when knives are involved
People (I catch myself doing it too!) so often judge a martial art or fighting style by the wrong metrics. We try to over generalize for "this will always work out that never will" instead of looking at 1) personal ethos [what are you willing to do/trying to accomplish]; 2) context [what is the physical situation, such as "in the wild" vs sport, single vs multiple, professional (cop, security, military) vs private, bigger vs smaller, etc.]; 3) mechanics to address the questions raised by the first two; and then 4) probabilities of success depending on the interactions of the other 3. It's all far more nuanced, and to a hammer everything looks like a nail. I love these explorations and the willingness you show to give all of these respect and a fair shake.
I'm surprised more MMA schools don't incorporate Sanda. For that matter I'm surprised more schools don't emphasize throws from Muay Thai or Karate. Machida took a lot of people down.
Honestly I like the ninjutsu one and pretty much every video I've seen so far is always exciting it's funny I love when you guys do the Avengers assemble so far I honestly I love all of it Abraham Lincoln was one of my favorites so I love that video and happy New years
I always wonder how people create the opportunity to live these kind of lives. I’d love to learn different martial arts but have no clue how to do it without quitting my job. Your videos are cool because you don’t take yourself too seriously. Great video
I'm a LARPer, but the LARP (Amtgard) I play in also has a foam combat system that would also qualify it as a Martial Art as per what you're qualifying as well. Have friends who I think you'd get a lot of cool information from. Or more, between like Dagorhir, Amtgard and the SCA, they're all similar but different. All have similar rulesets, so they behave the same. But they're also different enough that they've built their own meta as well. Is something that you could check out. Thank you for the videos. Thanks for keeping an open mind and doing basically investigative features. They've been super fun to watch I look forward to the videos you upload.
@Muaykhao187 Combat LARPs so more focus on combat and fighting more than like the roleplay aspect. We do a ton of stuff around footwork and body mechanics and fight theory. Looks feels like some form of fencing... About as much martial art as some of the lighter styles he's focused on
I think the fight scenes are AWESOME. I also didn’t realize how much of a Sensei Seth stan I am until I watched this and realized I barely missed a video this last year 😂
33:35 the sound comes from his fingers like the tip of a whip cracking, he whips is arms and the fingers make the cracking sound like a whip does, it wont work if he held a fist
Pro wrestling was one of my favorite things I've ever done. I don't have your background but I've done enough things that it was good combining them with athleticism (I was about 175 when I wrestled, competed in Judo at 155).

Sensei, the fact that you and the Karate Nerd and a whole bunch of other TH-cam martial artist influencers get together and share ideas is very inspiring.

Too bad he does not have bickering couple (everybody sees it) of idiots and talking cat stalking him.
What I learned from one Martial Art: leg kicks freaking hurt.
They do, indeed.
What about checking 😂
@RoberttreboR304 you cant check them all bro.
@dedpul5071still hurt even with a check no shing guards especially
@dedpul5071 definitely, but pretend you get to options: full force leg kick or full force checking

So true. All these educator folks who travel around learning things like martial arts or sports or languages … what an amazing life

Thought of it because your awards reminded me of the Golden Noggers Awards that OSW youtube channel do at the end of every year which is all vote in.
This is a brilliant format to highlight your catalogue of work 👍
You and Kevin Lee are my favorite martial arts youtubers.
Thank you Seth, your content feeds me
you saying holy shnikes in this video just made my year already!
You’re gonna be kicking yourself. I earned my karate black belt in 2 days by using Amazon prime shipping.
You are my favorite most entertaining TH-camr! There’s a lot of times where you made jokes and I was thinking the same thing
Honestly, I loved the cinematic fighting video. Top tier entertainment and you should see about a collab with fikshun
Thank you for the amazing content, looking forward to your new adventures! ✌
Best of luck in the new year Sensei!
yes Seth you are definitely my fav martial arts youtuber
1:47 I love watching Seth laughing at seth
LOVE YOOOUU SENSEI! Happy holidays my man!
the Abraham Lincoln one was my favorite video too it sucks that nobody watched it it's the video I most enjoyed and I enjoy all of your stuff by the way you're awesome seth
seth yum yum yum thank you for the tricks! your content feeds me!
Yes, one of the best TH-cam channels .
Awesome list of 43 martial arts in 45 minutes!! ONLY Sensei Seth! LOL
Happy new year to you too! Yes, you are Amon my favourite 5.😉
Honestly I like the ninjutsu one and pretty much every video I've seen so far is always exciting it's funny I love when you guys do the Avengers assemble so far I honestly I love all of it Abraham Lincoln was one of my favorites so I love that video and happy New years
U actually are in my top 5 favorite TH-camrs. Probably my n⁰ 4, but don't let it get into your head 😤
I always wonder how people create the opportunity to live these kind of lives. I’d love to learn different martial arts but have no clue how to do it without quitting my job. Your videos are cool because you don’t take yourself too seriously. Great video
Cool video from a top 5 youtuber for sure. Also, was that ITF on the whiteboard? Can't wait for that video. I need some more take one's dough jokes
I can't wait for more sumo! Those videos are my favorite, but I like them all.
25:05 Silly Seth, Trix are for kids.
23:24 you’re in my top 10 for sure in general. And then Top 5 for martial arts content🤜🫷❤️
I love the fight scenes and also want to see stuff to help me fight in the street when needed.
You're definitely in top five, along with Jake and Mike, would love to see you guys collaborate again
Ermm no. Larping is larping, not martial arts.
Cool concept tho
@Muaykhao187
Combat LARPs so more focus on combat and fighting more than like the roleplay aspect.
We do a ton of stuff around footwork and body mechanics and fight theory.
Looks feels like some form of fencing...
About as much martial art as some of the lighter styles he's focused on
I think the fight scenes are AWESOME. I also didn’t realize how much of a Sensei Seth stan I am until I watched this and realized I barely missed a video this last year 😂
Seth, yum yum yum, thank you for the tricks.
You’re in my top five Sensei Seth. Keep up the good work.
Bro, that's so funny. I love throwing the 'U can't C me' followed with the F-Five. It's the best move lmao
You're one of the few channels I'm a member of, so I guess you have to be top 5.
Try KENDO it will amaze you
Try to take contact with Christopher Yang the coach of the USA team
His dojo is at Torrance
Bet, thanks for the rec!
@@SenseiSeth It's very fun
kendo deserve more love... and a correct display of his peculiarities.
Positive that you can do both
