Having lived in the Tri-Cities area of Tennessee (Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol), this ride on I-26 always has been my favorite venture. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for this upload! I will never forget this.
I am in the middle of I-26 I-81 and I-40. When I was a kid I always thought I would die in this bowl at the base of the mountain. Then when I turned 16 and started driving I realized with the help of a Rand McNally truckers map that I was actually close to everything I would ever need. You have my dream job! @44:19 is my exit.
I was so excited to find this video as my Dad and I are planning fall trip to Johnson City. He always said the Asheville exit was tricky. Love the highway signs posted at bottom corner of video.
Drove from Conneaut, Ohio all the way down to temple hill road. That was quite the journey. Took I 90 west to I 271 south to 8 south to 77 south, then 64 west in Charleston, briefly to connect to 119 south, then to 23 south, then merging with 26 south. That 9 hour drive was sure a long one, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Those views are second to none, at least counting the views I’ve seen.
I actually filmed this area around two weeks ago so I’m back in Charlotte now. That gives me an idea though, once I gain access to the community tab I may start announcing future travels on there before the videos come out and get some input and possible interaction with subscribers.
Not a trucker but this route is the smoothest, with the least elevation changes you'll find going between the two areas. I-77 through Fancy Gap is very steep and driving through the Gorge on I-40 is more tumultuous as well.

No problem!

You'll definitely enjoy it. This road has some beautiful scenery. Some of the stuff you can't see from the view on this video.

True indeed. The camera doesn't do it justice. Hard to capture all those views off to the side.
@@MileageMikeTravels oh for sure.
How Long Did U Stay In Temple Hill When U Went
@@tameikabrown only for a weekend and it was almost 3.5 years ago, but I haven’t forgotten it. Beautiful place.

Nice trip Mike. Thanks for the video. Hopefully US-23 / I-26 between Johnson City up through Virginia is on your itinerary. Safe travels.
Thanks. I have I-26 up to it’s end in Kingsport coming soon.
I didn't know interstate 26 goes through Tennessee too
I Like The mountains in Asheville to Johnson City in North Carolina-Tennessee Border Interstate 26
Someday I must sit down and try to figure out how every road in this corridor is 19 "something."
I hear Waze going. Good call.
Oh yeah. Gotta watch for those 👮♂️
Mike, I live in Kingsport, TN. I-26 is 1/2 mile from my apartment. I would like to meet you if you are close by.

@@MileageMikeTravels thanks for this.
Needless to say, the routing on the first few miles of this stretch of highway is quite complex
Yes. If you blink you might miss the exit to continue onto I-26.
