- After completing a highly successful expedition of the Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers with K&D, Solvi was sold. As "Solvig" she has recently completed the Race to Alaska (R2AK). Safely carrying her new owner another 800 miles through the Inside Passage of the Pacific Northwest in an engineless boat race.

This is a time-lapse of the construction of our 20' sail and oar faering named Solvi. The boat has a balanced lug sail, outriggers and carbon sculling oars. Solvi is a beautiful boat, you did a lovely job making her. I will watch the vid of the journey with interest. It was a nicely put together vid as well: there are too many posted that finish before the end, or don't show much of the boat on the water. Thank you for sharing.
I've watched a bunch of these and the wood that you used I can't believe it is so beautiful ... but anyway man it really took shape fast and those strips of wood the contrast of Color ... Wow ,,, love you guys ..."" a gondola "" !!! I thought it was going to be a Viking ship ... Thanks ... David ....

Where did you get the plan. Gorgeous boat!

There are no plans for this boat. But we purchased rights for one build off the line drawings from the designer Jon Harris at Chesapeake Light Craft. Their website is packed full of fun and easy boats to build. The 19’8” faering “Solvi” we built in the video was highly specialized/modified for our unassisted expedition of the Mississippi River and is not available as a plan or kit due to its complicated hull form. But there are other faerings and double ended boats to choose from that are available with plans/kits.

The boat is 95% Western Red Cedar with some Northern Pine/Spruce.

Jon Harris of Chesapeake Light Craft designed the hull form. We added the decks for our own storage and safety needs.
