Had the privilege to meet him personally once in Bangalore in the late 70s when he came down for a benefit match. I was staying in the same hotel. He was such a nice down to earth person. I was a kid in my teens and he was a super star but still had the patience to have a few kind words and sign an autograph. Great cricketer but an even greater human.
He was a true Raja. Flamboyant, mercurial and immensely talented. As a player was treated unjustly. We will always miss him I am lucky to have seen him playing on ground at Gaddafi Stadium.
Thank you, Nauman sahib and Rashid sahib for doing this kind of show. I saw Late Waseem Hassan Raja, playing in the nets at the Service ground in Gulberg II, behind L block, where we use to live. At times a casual cricket hour use to take place in our long drive at our residence. Waseem and some other bowlers use to come and bowl to my Father, Khawaja Zaka-ud-Din sahib, who also played Cricket with Great Fazal Mehmood, Saeed Ahmad and Shafqat Rana. Wasim was friendly to another Service Club Cricketer Pervaiz, who was close to us. Although my Father was one of the Greats in Hockey, played fro Pakistan from 1958 to 1967. !960 Rome Olympic Gold and 1964 Tokyo Olympic Silver. And in 1958 Tokyo Asian Games Gold, 1962 Jakarta asian Games Gold and 1966 Bangkok Asian Games Silver. Besides, played for Pakistan in Australia and New Zealand in 1958 tour, European tour in 1961 to Germany, Holland, England, Spain, Belgium and Poland, 1959 Bombay Gold Cup, 1963 World Championship, Lyons, France, 1965 World Championship, Hamburg Germany, several International tours to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Russia, China, Middle East and even India. Uncle Fazal told me when he took wickets at the Oval and became a Hero. After coming back he was playing a club practice match for Crescent against Universal. My Father was played in that game and kind a played today's 20 over cricket and hit top fast bowlers Fazal sahib and Khan Mohd sahib. Nazar sahib was also playing that game. after the game, Fazal sahib told my Father, " Zako, yar tou tey Oval they Hero nou Lahore the Zero bana raha se " in Punjabi. they shared a laughter. Later my Father also joined Police and Fazal sahib, was his Boss. Actually when Fazal sahib retired as DIG Police, My Father took over from him and became DIG Police and retired. Anyways, My Father was friendly to Waseem's Father, Raja sahib. And later in the years at the Chief College ( Aitchison College ) I played House Cricket against budding up player at the time, Rameez Raja. He thrashed all over the ground. ( Damn Rameez, it still hurts ). I was few years Senior, but he did not have any mercy. Waseem Hassan Raja was playing the spectacular style of Cricket.
Majid was an exceptional player. However, Wasim Raja was a natural player. I am yet to see more talented player than Raja. Not comparing him with giants, yet a treat to watch. He was different in all respects.
Wasim Raja the great....Lara of Pakistan in 70s... Ramiz was not his caliber but Ramiz Raja was also a nice stroke player and was a good opening batsman who used give reasonable start to the team
I was one of the person to luckily meet in Delhi test I am talking about Waseem Raja that was in the first test match of indo Pak test series if I am right 1973 Imran Khan was Pak captain that time players generally mixes people it was during Pakistan net practice I had just started my lunch aloo prathas with mango pickle he came near me and said my favourite aloo prathas I just casually asked him to join he without any hesitation came and joined me for lunch and enjoyed and afterwards lots of discussions I had to say I became his fan from that day and fellowed him a lot and I can say he was a great personality a true master
Miandad, as a captain, always relied on him a an all rounder. I recall that he even asked Raja to open bowling for Pakistan against WI in one day matches.
He was way ahead of his times and as he wasn't a hypocrite he couldn't fit in the team. In this era he would have been a true super star. Gone too soon. The real Raja.
He was the fall guy (qurbani ka bakra) of Pakistan team. Whenever the team failed, he used to be the first player on the chopping block, purely because of non-cricketing reasons as they correctly pointed out (he was not a hypocrite, boot licker, etc). Imran was a great admirer of his immense talent but never stood with him. He was a West Indian in his batting approach, a thing which can not be said of any other Pakistani batsman.
He was good human being. Nauman was saying right he was king and not chamcha. I have seen him playing from collage to test cricket. Allah give him place in jinah.
PCB had been ruining the careers of real heroes of Pakistan cricket, from Raja, Aarif, Ashraf Ali, Sadat Ali, Moinul Atiq, Aamir Malik, Baasit Ali, Younis Ahmad, Ali Zia, Hassan Raza, Fawad Aalam to name a few. Raja could ve proved a legend. U don't ve the consistent policy in any sphere from politics to cricket
Bring Shoaib Akhtar orelse I will boycott Caught Behind. Yes Waseem Raja was a pure Raja. Pure class. Gave good advice to Ramiz Raja and always looked out for him unlike Kamran Akmal whom let his brother get filled with ego and cockyness
Rashid Bhai I was respectful of You. But your latest statement on Azharuddin was in very bad taste. You know the conditions in his country, you are making his life difficult. Kindly correct or advise your Pakistani players instead, so much problems in Pak team.
tm logon ki sound quality kbhi behtr nhi hogi.. poor quality.. i dont know k aik jagah beth k video q nhi bnatay.. online different jgah q beth k krtay.. bekar quality
Doc couldn't hide his grudges against ramiz, even in a program of tribute to a former legend wasim who's coincidentally ramiz brother, doc brought from nowhere the comparison to speak ill of ramiz... You're such a waste doc, feel sorry for your degeneration from a man that used to appear highly qualified both academic and culturally, but alas!!! What a shame

Pakistan's finest was one and only Osama bin laden. That's why prime minister of Pakistan calls him shahid (Martyr)
Indias finest is RSS,VHP,shiv sena ,hindutva bukht and BJP..
