i think this show should have gone on so much longer than it did. It's no classic or masterpiece, but then neither is Newsies- and that lasted for I think two or three years, deservedly so. I adore the music and the characters in this show, I don't know what the critics were seeing wrong that the audiences weren't.
actually, the musical portrays them as they actually were; also, bonnie did not kill anyone- she just carried a gun to set clyde straight when he tried to mess with her (and also to take a sarcastic photo). the CRITICS were the real reason the show closed; audiences loved the realistic light that the show placed on them.
Wrong, they blew the love story out of proportion. Yes they were in love but they killed 13 people. And it doesn’t matter that Bonnie didn’t kill anyone she helped. Just like mason didn’t kill anyone but is known as the craziest serial killer ever.
padthaidye wrong. They blew it out of proportion. Bonnie was not innocent she helped kill and rob all those places. Just like mason never killed anyone but is known as the most craziest serial killer ever.
I had planned my first trip to New York City a little after New Years this year. The fact that this was only on Broadway for a month before it closed devastated me because I wanted to see it so bad when I finally got there. I'm in love with the music, I'm such a fan of both Laura and Jeremy, and even though I never got to see it, I still think it closed way too early.
@Isabella Buitrago yeah I just looked it up It was on Broadway until 2011 but yes you're correct it's world premiere was in 2009 not with Jeremy Jordan though Jeremy Jordan join the cast of 2010
well he had a show for Newsies at Papermill that night after this press rehearsal. He was rehearsing this during the day and doing the Papermill run at night
FANTASTIC PRODUCTION!!! So grateful to have been privileged to view this production and witness these performers remarkable abilities! Still hopeful it will come around again and be shared with the world one day soon! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽ENCORE
To this day it is one of my favorite musicals . I was so lucky to see it before it closed. Jeff Calhoun and the cast and creative team did a WONDERFUL job!!!
Jania Kapoor It was only open for a month. It was in previews for a month or two before that (at least one of the bootlegs is from previews). I actually went to see it four times in that short period it was running 🤣. Thinking back, it’s crazy (and sad) to remember how short lived it was. So glad we got that excellent cast recording and the music wasn’t lost forever.
I'm going to see the show tomorrow!!! :D I'm so excited! It looks great! Frank Wildhorn better win that TONY!!! I'm pretty sure he deserves it as well as the entire company! :)
it doesn't matter how "realistic" or "accurate" it was tbh. it was good. ofc, most musicals are not real. just because wicked isn't actually about a real life green girl doesn't mean it should've closed in 28 days. saying it deserved to shut down because it focused on the love story is kinda shitty
Bonnie and Clyde were not dewey-eyed star crossed crossed lovers, misconstrued by the public. They were bank robbers who killed 13 people. That's why the play closed, because today people know the truth.

Totally agree with you. It's not a masterpiece but it's a very good one. I like it a lot and I wish it has lasted longer than it did.
The reason the Newsies got extended is that they had/have a awesome fan base that really pushed Disney hard to extend the run!
...I hate...Hate...HATE critics. They are awful! This was an amazing show!!!
Yes it is

The show was not at all realistic but k
Elizabeth Again It was more realistic than the well known film.
Bonnie held several guns but there are no records of her killing anyone. She sure helped with the robberies, but no murder.
Did anyone think it was funny how furiously the cameras started clicking when they kissed before the vid ended?
THIS SHOW DESERVED BETTER IT'S SO GOOD

4:12 my sentiments exactly! That sentence perfectly describes Jeremy Jordan.
Seeing Jeremy in that newsboy cap just does things to me... I wonder if he got it from Newsies :)
RachelVSTheWorld
He played jack In Newsies after this, at least I'm pretty sure
@Isabella Buitrago no it was not they were along the same time

I just realized I never heard Jeremy Jordan’s real voice without an accent
They played this musical in my home country and I played young Bonnie!!
I played Young Bonnie in this, too! It was so incredibly fun!
Warren. Beatty. Faye Dunaway impossible to 4get

This was so perfect. Perfect concept, perfect cast. I wish it hadn't closed so soon.
This popped up in my recommendations and I had a heart attack thinking it was getting a revival but then I saw the date and got sad.
Love this musical! Happy Birthday, Jeremy Jordan!
I love this musical! I feel this one should be more popular!
I wish I could’ve actually seen this. So sad it didn’t last longer. Loved the cast, loved the music loved everything.

laura is my idol she is my favorite she has been my idol since grease lura you are the best
Why did this end :( excuse me I'm going to cry
I’m so bitter that this isn’t on Broadway anymore
I think Jeremy Jordan is the Mickey Rooney to Laura Osnes's Judy Garland almost!
Cool comparison!! Laura has had incredible chemistry with every single costar she's ever had!! She's amazing!!
My theater just had a zoom seminar with Laura. She is so sweet.
i saw this show today, it was amazing
I'm going to see the show tomorrow!!! :D I'm so excited! It looks great! Frank Wildhorn better win that TONY!!! I'm pretty sure he deserves it as well as the entire company! :)
How was it??? I wanted to see it so badly
Their ain't nothing Jeremy Jordan can't do with his voice
This show shouldve gone on for a lot longer, its a shame it ended so quickly
Warren & Faye dominate. including the real characters!!
Laura and Jeremy: *lean into kiss each other*
Photographers: *aggressive camera clicking*
I really wish there's was a production of this in england
