Most gun safes arent any thicker metal/steel wise than a security cabinet. Safes weigh so much because of the shit they put into them (drywall, carpet ect.) Most safes arent actually fireproof either. Go look at how poorly build cheap gun safes are, like the cannons amd winchester. The locking lugs dont even lock into anything. A security cabinet will stop a smash and grab robbery. If you want true fire protection you either have to spend thousands on a NICE safe, or get firearm insurance.
