I've been listening to this particular version of the FH theme on & off for 20 years now, definitely seems to hold a special place in my heart. I remember painstakingly downloading it (along with the orchestral versions of the FFVII Main theme & Aeris' theme) off Limewire with a 56k modem connection. So worth it. 😂

My friends, family and Earths Space force military mates are orbiting around a crippled earth in a space station, some wondering if I made it alive and sad of the current losses(deaths)due to a recent heavy attack by some dominant cultish alien race trying to conquer all sentient being throughout the universe(Independence Day and Halo reference). And through a silent evening we are all watching this fiery phenomenon happening somewhere around the stars. The vessel I'm currently in is admiring this phenomenon close by as the song hits its climax. Feeling truly sad, hopeful, beautiful.

For me this FFVIII soundtrack is about a fisherman who doesn't care about money, religion, the people on his surroundings, and the society planning to make the world bad, what he cares about is "the line that separates the heaven from the sea" that he sees on his everyday life as a fisherman. (edit) PS i guess being a fisherman isn't so bad after all.
Love how this track goes from a nice, peaceful feel in the games to a wondrous, Ghibli-esque feel with an orchestra. Both versions are unique and wonderful in their own way.
I have not played ff8, but this feels so emotional. It sounds so whimsical, like the magic old disney movies had and lost over time... (must the the chorus singing beautifully). Bless the composer
You will love it. This is the orchestrated version of a song in the game. This version is not in the game. But its the same musicians, so they have beautiful music within the game. Its a hell of a ride, adventure, love story, etc.

I do like this version. My only reservation is that I think it leaves behind the dramatic “step down” of the main phrase and makes me realize how much I *need* it for the emotional impact. 😩. They’re lovely and flowing in this version though which is nice 🥰
