Not all remakes were successful, Dr. Rajkumar led this campaign dubbing should not be allowed because it's harmful for kannada industry's growth & situation was like that ,Remake was just a choice not like that there was no dubbing available so used to remake it was dubbing supporters had spread that Kannadigas watch remake movies instead of dubbing, if u take tamil & telugu industry they remade movies of each other, Tamils remade movies from Malayalam & hindi now why bollywood is remaking movies even dubbing is there since old days ?
+ This inside fight between dubbing supporters & opposers created some misunderstanding Other states people started to mock that Sandalwood movies had depend on Remakes & used to say they do remakes only, by this logic Malayalam industry always had/has good stories but Y is it small if compared to tamil & Telugu? Just good stories couldn't do magic & movies are dead slow due to lack of masala they started making porn movies in 80's & 90's. Kannada industry was top industry in 80's & 90's.
