These keep getting better, don't they? I'm a Ford man at heart,my late father worked at the Ford factory here in Portugal for 25 years, and my two first cars were Fiesta's. This collection is fantastic, and you can feel the passion, unlike that giant collection from a few weeks ago. Thank you so much.
The 2.0 went quite well. I remember chasing a colleague in his J plated sapphire 2.0 in my G plate 1.8 Sierra. I couldn’t catch him. And he was three up.
What’s the story with the spec on that Cortina please? Judging by the reg, it was coming towards the end of the line before the Sierras were released in 82, so no doubt Ford were throwing options at Cortina’s just to shift the stock, but I’ve never heard of one with cruise before and especially not the sump guard. My late Father had a dark blue 2.3 Cortina, (Ghia I think, but I was very young at the time), before getting one of the very first Sierras, a 1982, 3 door 1.3L in polar white.
Let Me say this Johnny, I am from the U.S and will be 67 this April, as I’ve grown older I have really started to appreciate all the European cars and the cars from the cars made in the U.K. I really appreciate the history of the cars made across the pond.
I’m 47 and British but since I was a little lad I was and still am always fascinated with American cars from the 60s through to the 90s. The design and sheer size of the engines has always blown my mind. I rented a 1970 Buick Skylark a few years ago just to scratch the itch. Glad you like our fast Fords!
@ Tom, in 1974 as a 16 year old I had a 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 convertible. ( The Skylark Muscle Car ) in 1977 I sold it because I was getting married in 1978. Biggest mistake I ever made was selling it.
I swear to God, I'm more excited and enthused seeing that Sierra Sapphire GLS than any hyper car. That's pure magic for any genuine car enthusiast... Wow. What a great 'little' collection anyway. Thanks so much for sharing it!
J180 GDM Ford Sierra 2.0 GLS Sapphire, This car was supplied BRAND NEW by KIRBYS Ford of Wrexham. In June 1992 this car was bought by a Mr Cyril Hughes, Having bought it he hated it, He had tried to sell it but no one was interested in J180 GDM and was never sold. The only thing that was changed was a new battery with fresh fuel and oil, After closer inspection we found that the fuel pump was seized solid, this was taken off stripped, cleaned and rebuilt. (not replaced with an after market new one) Never been restored, never welded and never had any paintwork. Just cleaned as you see it today. I bought the car from Mr Hughes Son sold as seen, we removed all the cobwebs, dead spiders and the general 32. years of dust etc
Would definitely have the Sierra and would use it very lightly just to keep it in good running order after all that's what they were made for and a close second would be the last one absolutely brilliant car and we must thank him and his dad for keeping these beauties in this condition
My old neighbour bought a 1981 yellow xr3 brand new in 1985 from cyril hughes. The car still resides in llangollen in kenrick motors. I remember the showroom had a burgandy sapphire glsi brand new unregistered for sale alongside the then new mondeo mk 1 😂
22:20 I had a plain 1.6 Diesel Mk4 and did over 600.000 miles in it...All with the same engine. Only once lost fifth gear and had to repair that. Killer car. Practically lived in that car. Drove about between 80K and 110K miles a year in it, sold it and it STILL runs.
Great collection! Those mk5 Cortina's bring back some memories, had one as my first car. Johnny is right when he says they were dirt cheap and forgotten about. When all my mates were buying saxos and civics I got a clean manual gl with black bumpers and spot lights for less than 1k. Admittedly it had many flaws but was such an awesome 1st car to own. Saw it 3 years ago still on the road
Walking home from school in Croydon early 80's with 3 friends, we'd play a game of 'guess the exact model of (only) Ford'. We'd get points and the end of the week the winner would get 50p off the other 2. As soon as i clapped eyes on that Mk5, i knew instantly it was a 2.3 Ghia S, I felt 14/15 years old again. My Dad had a greeny blue MK2 1.6 Estate (OLM 688E), not sure if it was an 'E' though. Caves, garages, barns or sheds, another cracking episode, once again Jonny.
I must say I really loved this episode, represented my teenage and early adulthood. I had a white RS Turbo and yes it was nicked, but only up to the end of my road, because I'd installed a fuel cut-off switch under the driver's seat, and luckily whoever pinched it gave up trying to start it. It was quite a fast car - for me at least. I also had a Mark 2 Escort RS200 and a Mk3 RS1600i, but that latter car was rubbish, one of the worst RS cars Ford made. As for Sierras, I had an E-reg XR4x4 and that was lovely. Amazing that such cars are going for such crazy prices these days.
@@SteveM-ly7oy we are blessed mate. I loved that episode. I'm 57 and lucky enough to have lived in a period where we had those cars ! At college i had datsuns! Then when working started my car obsession with every kind of gti and XR. lol. Mk1 golf gti being my fav. Pal had series of fiat strada TC cars !! So fast even by todays standards. You had a good selection of ford's there ! Not owned but managed to drive them all. Just happy happy days .
What an immaculate collection, and so many of them with back stories too, which helps bring them to life. Pity you couldn't get to drive any, but obviously you have to respect the owner's wishes! I think my favourite to take out would be one of the Mk2 Cortinas, probably the GT - what a handsome car. Thanks again TLBS crew!
As a Ford guy through and through, I have too say that the BBS cross spokes on the 325i are the second best looking wheels in the world after the Ford RS 4-spoke in 7inch width. I had an E30 320i & an E46 320i both had the BBS cross spoke! Amazing collection of Ford’s & I say that as an ex-Ford of Europe employee, this would be my ideal Ford collection On the Cortina 2.0 Ghia S, the cruise control was a dealer fit option, not factory fitted
It's crazy how over the last decade, a lot of those cars have shot up in value. I think it was 2012 when I had a Solid Mk5 Cortina Estate as my daily (Frank the Tank), and a Mk1 Fiesta as my rolling project. Both of which cost me about £500 each.
The Sierra reminds me of a Mk1 Escort I bought with 2600 miles on the clock. Still on it's original oil, tyres, never had a service nor MOT, no one had ever sat in the back, spare wheel was still where it was fitted in the factory. It obviously still had the original oil and there was even a spare key in the engine bay with a brown paper tab on it. True time warp car Johnny would have enjoyed it.
Another great video Jonny, I love all these cars but if I had to choose one car it would be the MK 2 1600 E, simply for nostalgic reasons as this was my second car I owned at age 18, bought in 1978, G Reg, 9 years old and still immaculate with 52000 miles, even with all the new cars around at that time that crossflow engine with twin choke weber was still revered back in the 70's 🥰
My first car when I graduated from high school in Puerto Rico was a 1967 Cortina which my Dad bought from me used in 1969 from my uncle who was the British Ford distributor in the island. They bring back lots of memories....
Nice to see the 106 GTi in the same metallic red that my dad had for his mid-life crisis company car. I helped draw up the shortlist and did the test driving and could hardly believe when he actually plumped for it (nor could his colleagues - his manager took quite some convincing to let him take this instead of some boring Passat or something). Glad he did though - he loved it... and I always got a kick out of seeing my middle-aged parents taking it on holiday or when he let me hoon it around if I was down from uni for the weekend. Edit: Oh yeah - and he had also had a couple of company Escorts in the past - mk2 GL with sports pack (vinyl roof etc.) then a mk3 Ghia with an interior very similar to those end-of-the-line Cortinas - quite a few memories triggered by this video.
Fantastic video Jonny - as always :) My wife loved your shoes - but said when viewed from the front look like clown shoes '😮 ! Noe that's all I can see 😁. Keep up the sensational work. CMTMB...
Back in 1992 my boss had a GLSi Sierra in white, he broke his leg in a diy accident so I had to pick him up and take him home every day for about 6 weeks. So being in my early 20’s it got a good ragging on a daily basis ❤
Met Ian at car show with the 1600E. Loved the car as had one 40 year's ago. We both laughed saying you could get three bodies in the massive boot. The cars are awesome 👌 👏 👍
I love the little Peugeot.I remember a work mate took me out in a brand new 106 GTI and could not believe how fast it was compared to my old heavy 1.6 lt Capri🤩
That final Mk2 in pale blue is exactly the same as the first car I remember my Dad buying in the very early 1970s, his was also a 1968 on an "F" plate. Just seeing the car and the blue interior took me right back, and I can almost smell that vinyl interior. Who needs madeleines?
Lovely E30 ..my mum in law had a 325i for years same colour... don't think she had it over 60 mph... sensational looking sounding and driving cars... love classic cars including my own fully optioned E46 330 ci m sport.. pristine with full main dealer history..had it ten years and will never sell. Looking for a f80 M3 this year to go with it. Keep up the fantastic work.
Impressive collection of cars, not just the Fords, but all the others too. It's great to see those old Escorts and Cortinas as i hardly see them on the road now, yet they were all over the place when i was a child.
I jumped straight to the E30, as my daily driver of the last nearly 19 years is an E30. It goes out in all weather so it's nowhere near as shiny as the one in this collection; I'd call it patinated, and I love it.
Thanks for taking us around this beautiful collection - so many Fords that my Dad owned - the MKII cortina, the MkI Escort, The Cortina 2.0 S. My first car was a Ford Escort MKII - with the round headlights, because it was a lowly 1.1 Popular from 1976. Brings back a lot of happy memories of family driving holidays around the UK 👌
Brilliant episode some stunning cars. The Signal Orange Escort 1300 Sport was identical to my first Escort. So many happy memories of times when cars had real chacter.
cracking car cave, clearly likes what he likes. even though i've a mk1 escort myself, that BM is a lovely thing. there is one on a driveway near me that hasnt moved in 10 years and i look for it every time i pass. they're just so well proportioned and have aged really well (inpart because new ones looks so gopping). another cracking vid as always Jonny and team
We had an Escort Mk2 when I was a kid and used to help my mates older brother work on his Cortina MK3, but the extended gang had Mk4's or Capri's. Seeing these cars in that condition is incredible as I never saw one that good even in the 80s lol
Thats a lovely collection. I’m drawn to the Mk2 escort, my dad had a Popular in red during the 80’s. Not very quick but the shape stuck with me and to see that Mk2 in that gorgeous deep orange is spectacular.
What an awesome collection!!! Thanks Jonny!!! The Sierra is just bloody gorgeous…and brings back memories. Drove around the UK in a similar GL back in 2001
My dad had a '79 (GDV 262V) Cortina 2.3 Ghia (MK4 i think?) Auto with brown vinyl roof and round spotlights. Seeing this Cortina brought back some fond memories ......
Out of all these I would have to say I'd love any of the MKII Cortinas. My dad had an old 'E' plate 1300 automatic when I was a kid and it was a great car, not fast or quick but moved a family of 5 well enough on UK holidays. Unfortunately it was written off when it got 'T' boned. I remember the vinyl seats use to get ridiculously hot in the summer for a small kid in the early 70's wearing shorts. The drivers door window occasionally popped down on its own as well. My dad had a knack of sorting that at the roadside. Many thanks for sharing.
Fabulous video Johnny, I really don't know which one I'd have though if pushed I think it'd be between the 1300 sport MK2 Escort and the MK1 restomod I think.
This must be so close to where I live! And I must have seen some of the motors at shows too! I am not ford guy, always been aircooled VW's and Porsches for me.. but I will say I have taken a shine to that Silver Mk1... a classic daily is the dream.
His dad is a man of me old heart. The mk 2 e as always bin my altimeter car. Same red same reg. I loved mine. But it was only a 13 gt. I used to take me mates out in it stunt driving round the streets doing what ya do as teenager. 180,s reverse racing hand brake slide turn. It was amassing how much hammer that cortina could take. Great days early 70,s. You have a fantastic collection. See ya at a show. My names Paul. My cb nick name was super zoon.😊
The first and only Ford I ever owned was an Onion 1.6L. It was an absolute rust bucket. Finally scrapping it when the gearbox papped out, was a service to Humanity 😂
Love this one, the sapphire must be unique with the mileage like that, but the cortina 2.3 is my favorite, if you can pick from that lot, I had a forest green 2.3 ghia s when I was 19( a long time ago😂), loved that car, so comfy, and quite fast too being a V6, had a 2.8 with a 5speed box all ready to transplant in it, but alas, never got round to it, fell in love with a MK2 escort harrier and bought that, wish I still had both of them now. Keep these finds coming
Wow, what a collection, love the orange mk2. My first car was a mk1 Escort I had plans for that car, had mexico wings and a sunroof put on it but sadly rust killed it 😞 The one I miss was my white MK1 Orion 1600i Ghia which was basically an XR3 with a boot, it had the Ford spot lights and I got the front grill colour coded, it had the XR3 interior and seats, wish I still had it, the CVH engine was a bit rough tho 😀
Wow - that takes me back. Our old man had a 'S' reg Mk4 Cortina 2.0 Ghia Auto - in Silver with black Vinyl Roof. Had blue velour seats and wood cappings with a wind open sunroof. He definitely thought he was the dogs in it!! Good times....
Very nice cave Jonny, thanks. . Loved that last one, the colour I remember them as being but haven't seen for ages, great example, some very nice toys, and so lucky to have that space for them! 👌🙌
I had a 1990 Sierra Sapphire 2.0 GLX in the late 90s. Same lovely metallic blue as the one featured. Presumably the same handsome DOHC engine too. Great car, that.
I'll have that Vista Orange Sport pretty please...!! I had a 1600 in the same colour when it was 3 years old in 1978 - it never looked that good (mind you I did build and use it as a road rally car!!) That car is just stunning! So wish I still had mine, ubfortunately I can't remember the reg so can't check if by some miracle it's survived (& I couldn't afford it now anyway!!)
Here in South Africa, the Sierra saloon was known as the "Saphire" and the 5 door was called the Sierra . During that time we also had the Ford laser (hatch) and the 4 door Meteor saloon variant. After the Saphire/Sierra ,we got the Ford Telstar and the TX5 along with the new escort hatch/saloon . After that it was the Ford Falcon and the ford fiesta. High end Cortina's and Sierra's were known as "XR6/ XR8 " . and the Escort's were called "XR3" . There was also a pick-up truck/bakkie variant of the escort called the "Bantam" here in SA.
WOW Johnny, Again another awesome car collection again how do you find all these incredible car collection's!! And my first car was a MK2 cortina 1600e & ive recently just bought maybe the last performance ford, A focus st estate as knowing that they are not going to continue making the focus as like the fiesta i had to buy one!! So I guess i can say that im a ford fanatic too!!☺️ Great video yet again fine sir!!👌🏻👍🏻
One of my earliest memories was dad's new dark green Mk 2 Cortina estate with the boomerang tail lights. My favourite Cortinas were probably the Mk 3s. Just love the curvy hips on them, reminiscent of a Mk 1 Escort. Guessing Nathan's dad doesn't agree: just Mk 2s and 5s 😂
What a lovely collection. My parents had a sierra glx exactly the same colour and I work with a guy when doing my apprenticeship who had a 1300 sport mk2 some 35 years ago. I hope that the garage has plenty of gaurd dogs in there to keep the thieves away
Love the Ford brand, I spent the best part of my life selling most of these in OZ, including of course the Falcon, just noticed the top selling car currently in the UK is the Ford Puma!
My God the nostalgia of that 92 Saphire. My Grandparents had an identical one that, for over ten years, did 12 miles a year. To the MOT station, and then back home again.
Hi Jonny great video. I must say I do like a classic Ford having had fiesta super sport before my accident. I did pick the silver one as my favourite thinking that the time I recognise it from a few years ago I actually know Chris Penny through his dads photography, I sent him the link to this video but he actually seen it last night and was happy that you liked it. he has built some fantastic Fords over the years. I don't know what he's got at the moment but maybe it's worth you reaching out to him and paying a visit.?
I had a 1979 Mk4 2.3 Ghia Cortina in white with blue velour seats - LGN931V We shoehorned a Capri 2.8i engine, gearbox & axle into it Got some Compomotive CX split rims from Ripspeeed and put the S rubber boot spoiler & front spot lights on it, colour coded Mk5 front grill It was an animal. I ended up having an altercation with a 2CV Dolly in Ilford High Street and I came off by far worst and ended up having to scrap it!
Wow what an incredible selection of very very pristine cars, personally for me it’s a tuff choice on what car I’d go for. Too many stunning cars to choose from 🙂
These keep getting better, don't they?

That final Mk2 in pale blue is exactly the same as the first car I remember my Dad buying in the very early 1970s, his was also a 1968 on an "F" plate. Just seeing the car and the blue interior took me right back, and I can almost smell that vinyl interior. Who needs madeleines?
Wow what a collection, I’m so glad people preserve these vehicles so nostalgic people like me who can’t afford them can still enjoy seeing them.
Too many stunners to choose from! A lovely collection of vehicles, thank you Jonny 😎
Brilliant episode some stunning cars. The Signal Orange Escort 1300 Sport was identical to my first Escort. So many happy memories of times when cars had real chacter.
No Sweeney Granada 🤔😀👍
I had one of those and a Cortina 1600E
Fabulous Collection
What a beautiful episode. Great to see a young lad get enjoyment out of cars built before he was born!
Wow, what a collection. That white Mk4 Escort is probably nicer than they were when new.
Most definitely better than factory. These were never high build quality cars.
13:24 i love that 2.3 is considered big when you could get the 4.1 six in the same te-tf Cortina in Australia.
2.3 was big for us!
Owned a TE (UK Mk4) Cortina fitted with a 6cyl 4.1 litre engine. Very quick in a straight line - but somewhat recalcitrant when approaching a corner.
Beautiful collection and Jonny is always so humble
Amazing. Between my parents and I we've had almost every car in that hangar between the 70s and the 90s. 😂
cracking car cave, clearly likes what he likes. even though i've a mk1 escort myself, that BM is a lovely thing. there is one on a driveway near me that hasnt moved in 10 years and i look for it every time i pass. they're just so well proportioned and have aged really well (inpart because new ones looks so gopping). another cracking vid as always Jonny and team
Proper collection of Proper cars. Lovely 😎👊✌
Great collection!! Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed watching 👍🏼👍🏼
The best viewing ever !!!
Was excited from the start to see the cars and hear the stories behind them .
RS turbo 🎉
But they were all beautiful!
Drove around the UK in a similar GL back in 2001
WOW, STUNNING GUYS FANTASTIC COLLECTION OF FORD CLASSIC GEMS.Thank you for the late Brake show', I totally enjoyed this amazing Ford Collection.
My favourite has to be the Escort 1300 Sport ❤
I owned an identical car from new I wish it was still in my garage today.
My dad had a '79 (GDV 262V) Cortina 2.3 Ghia (MK4 i think?) Auto with brown vinyl roof and round spotlights. Seeing this Cortina brought back some fond memories ......
What a cracking collection of classics and nice to see them local to me in North Wales
They all look amazing! I love the skyline and that BMW
This is the kind of car cave i like - its not just a passionless rich guy - clearly a real love of cars, and they know what they like!
Wonderful collection.
Many thanks
Love this one, the sapphire must be unique with the mileage like that, but the cortina 2.3 is my favorite, if you can pick from that lot, I had a forest green 2.3 ghia s when I was 19( a long time ago😂), loved that car, so comfy, and quite fast too being a V6, had a 2.8 with a 5speed box all ready to transplant in it, but alas, never got round to it, fell in love with a MK2 escort harrier and bought that, wish I still had both of them now. Keep these finds coming
Wow, what a collection, love the orange mk2.
My first car was a mk1 Escort I had plans for that car, had mexico wings and a sunroof put on it but sadly rust killed it 😞
The one I miss was my white MK1 Orion 1600i Ghia which was basically an XR3 with a boot, it had the Ford spot lights and I got the front grill colour coded, it had the XR3 interior and seats, wish I still had it, the CVH engine was a bit rough tho 😀
That sierra is lovely! I had the same year model but in black with red pin stripe surprisingly quick car! This is my favourite era off cars 😎👌
Very nice cave Jonny, thanks. . Loved that last one, the colour I remember them as being but haven't seen for ages, great example, some very nice toys, and so lucky to have that space for them! 👌🙌
Oh yes, this is the stuff - love old Fords, especially Mk II Cortinas!
The last mk2 in the video was one of the most detailed restorations we have ever seen
Ford Escort RS Turbo - Awesome! Boy racing days in the 90's flooding back :)
What a lovely collection and a great car cave 👌Johnny
Wow! That's some stunning clean cars there. Both Mark 2s were gorgeous
Takes me back too my apprenticeship days at W H Perry’s ford dealership . Awesome video .👍
I love all the Fourdsss😉. Even had a Mk5 Ghia Cortina baxk in the day! BUT the car id probably take home is The BMW 325. with subtle mods. Stunning 👍
Absolutely brilliant episode 👌👌👌
my mum had a black sierra gls hatchback, it was a rocket ship at the time, keeping pace with astra gte, rover 220 turbo. great collection!
I had a 1990 Sierra Sapphire 2.0 GLX in the late 90s. Same lovely metallic blue as the one featured. Presumably the same handsome DOHC engine too. Great car, that.
Cortina Mk2’s are beautiful. Thanks Nathan and Jonny 😁👍
Look at this Content and its only January.
Thankyou once again Mr Smith
Wow, what a collection
That's a tough one. probably close with the Mk1 escort just beating the beemer. Would love the Saph too, and the Skyline looks mint. Great collection
You should have gone into Llangollen as well. Old garage there has a yellow Escort XR3 1981 in the window. Rare as hens teeth. 😊😊😊
And of course the Cortina X6 variant interceptor and X-ocet .
The saloon was also called a Sapphire in the UK.
Some beautiful motors there wow 🤩
WOW Johnny, Again another awesome car collection again how do you find all these incredible car collection's!! And my first car was a MK2 cortina 1600e & ive recently just bought maybe the last performance ford, A focus st estate as knowing that they are not going to continue making the focus as like the fiesta i had to buy one!! So I guess i can say that im a ford fanatic too!!☺️ Great video yet again fine sir!!👌🏻👍🏻
❤
I had a 1979 Mk4 2.3 Ghia Cortina in white with blue velour seats - LGN931V
We shoehorned a Capri 2.8i engine, gearbox & axle into it
Got some Compomotive CX split rims from Ripspeeed and put the S rubber boot spoiler & front spot lights on it, colour coded Mk5 front grill
It was an animal.
