    Gotta love Fiskar axes. I have the X7 and that little phucker can chop! No chips or rolled edges after half a day of clearing 4 years worth of overgrown trees. Afterwards I gave it a few lengths of the diamond stone & it was back to a razor (not that it really needed it).

    I've had one for years. After a good sharpen it is a very versatile axe.

    After watching this vid I could see why Canadian prepper prefers the silky saws because with an axe you exert a lot of energy. But he does have the same splitter axe. By the way excellent video!

    How do you think the new fiskars norden series compares to this? I like the looks of the n12, but the x17 is tempting.

      @whatittooye 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      N series is just an overpriced axe with a wood handle, sure its cool but for the price? Definately not.

    Nice Gene, Fiskars makes great tools. I have a lot of axes and hatchets but they are Estwing; awesome axes!!

    The link for the sheath doesn't work and the link for the axe links to another larger axe. Apart from yhat, the would probably cost the same as the pitot tube on a F-16 so I'm off.
    But it would be great with a compact holster for some of these great Fiskars axes - the plastic one sucks.

    Please do a review of the Norden series, all 3 of them. I'd like to see if their steel is better and if the N12 can also chop down trees as their website claims despite being a splitting axe. I'm looking for a truly universal axe for my bug out bag, I cannot carry 2 axes due to weight constrain.

    Nice video but it is titled F17 SPLITTING axe and your first demonstration is using it for chopping. Is it a wedge shape designed for splitting firewood or a narrow face more for limping/chopping? Confused.

    Seems like a good tool for the kid to use. She loves my small forest axe and wants to split, but all I have is a gb large splitting axe. Thinking this smaller tool might help her.

    • @ReviewOutdoorGear
      @ReviewOutdoorGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This could work, but keep in mind that this is almost twice as heavy as the small forest axe.

      Well I didnt consider that. What do you recommend? Smaller fiskars, or something else.

    • @ReviewOutdoorGear
      @ReviewOutdoorGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The small forest axe weighs 2 pounds 2.5 ounces and the fiskars x17 is 3 pounds 7.5 ounces. It’s actually not twice as much... it might be manageable for her. Especially if she grows?

    • @ReviewOutdoorGear
      @ReviewOutdoorGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s not really a lighter option for a splitter as efficient as this one.

      these days i car camp and buy bundles of pre-split wood at the store or gas station. for splitting stuff that's already partially broken down and bone dry, the x17 is great.
