    Most televised police chases have the footage delayed by a few seconds while the audio is in real time in case something traumatic happens, I know several years ago someone shot themselves with a shotgun after a persuit and they didn’t cut the video

    In most states, the officers that are PIT certified can do the PIT maneuver. Most of the Highway Patrol are trained to do it, since they specialize in pursuits. So not just any cop can do them. Also, if there is too much traffic, they won't do them.

    In Southern California they always televise police chases. TV stations will sometimes interrupt regular broadcasts to show one happening live.
    That’s when it’s time to call your friends or relatives and ask if they’re watching the police chase.
    I’ve seen one where shooting occurs and the helicopter cameraman zoomed out fast.

      There are multiple TH-cam channels I've noticed lately that go live on TH-cam to broadcast the news coverage during any high speed or prolonged pursuit. I guess they're like the Wimbledon ball boys, always at the ready, hoping a ball goes into the net so they can get some kind of notoriety.

    I live in Southern California and it is not uncommon to turn on the TV in the evening to see a car chase. The reporters almost treat it like a sporting event
    Statistically there are 3 or 4 chases a day in LA (where the suspect tries to drive away) but usually they give up right away and it doesn't appear on TV.
    A couple weeks ago there was a chase where they tried a pit manuever at least 5 times and the car kept going. It wasn't any special car, just some kind of KIA.

  • @ceci8556
    @ceci8556 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Incredibly, it's not uncommon to find a baby or small child in the car they chase down. I watched one big ol' burly guy swing into a business park, ditch the car, then run into a building where he managed to hide for awhile, but not before reaching into his backseat and grabbing his infant son in his carseat. These arial views are priceless.

    Using your vehicle in a manner to intentionally hit, run someone over, or harm them in any way is assault with a deadly weapon (because if anything is a deadly weapon, it's a 1/4 ton+ death machine). I'm actually annoyed this guy didn't take him out as soon as he began moving toward him. Any high-ranking senior officer who saw this would've said, "use your force multiplier and fill him in because he is actively trying to kill you". These guys don't care about the safety of innocent people on the road, so they definitely don't care about the lives of our police.

    the first and third one were great. i've seen so many shitty techniques where they swerve the car, then stop, leaving all the space in the world for the car to reverse or just turn around. the whole point of the pit is to get the car sideways or flip it, then box them in so they can't move. if you just pit and leave a ton of room, no shit the guy's gonna just drive away again. those two examples were good too because they ended the situation quickly. there's so many pursuits where they let the guy go for like 2 hrs even after several pits, spike strips, and multiple car jackings. rare to see a well-executed pit and takedown.

  • @SMOOVKILL1
    @SMOOVKILL1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Much better than a top 10 compilation made with a narrator. Alot of police pursuits should be called off because it's a danger to the public. The suspect gets blamed but the cops are just as responsible. If you've never had to run from a cop than you won't understand that giving up is not a natural thing to do when you perceive something as a threat. In Toronto if the chase even starts to get dangerous they just have the helicopter follow the car to where it's going and cops arrest the people. Simple.

I believe that is when they started having a delay in what they show on TV just in case something crazy happens.

They use Ford, dodge and chevy cause they are built stronger for when they gotta ram into someone. They are so modified that the civilians are not allowed to see under the hoods. Many police departments must get permission from their bosses to do a PIT. If you watch these videos enough, there are many cops who will delay a PIT due to on-coming traffic. There are a few videos where the pit took place at over 112 MPH and the car ended up in a tree.

      that part where the cop absolutely smashes it despite the car already being disabled and not a threat is ridiculous. as you point out, the guy is falling out of the window! he's not a threat and the cop straight up smashed into him. absolute madness, and i say that as an American (though with immigrant parents).

    • @ESUSAMEX
      @ESUSAMEX ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jvp1utube I believe once the car took off and tried to escape that cops had the right destroy that car and I really do not care what happens to the driver or his criminal friends. The only time the cops should care about the safety of criminals who are trying escape recklessly is when they know that the passengers have nothing to do with the crime for which he or she is being chased. In this instance, the cops knew that everyone in the car was a criminal.
      We must stop treating criminals with kid gloves. If someone is going put other lives in danger during a criminal act, the cops should have carte blanche to end the criminal. As far as I am concerned, the criminal forfeits all his or her right to remain living.

    😂 ar 8:41 I told ya Florida is one of those states where they will do everything and anything to catch you. In California they will back off but in Florida they gonna get you no matter what. Same here in Texas and in Arkansas 😂

    Arkansas State Police loves to pit. Last year, a State Trooper pitted a pregnant woman on the interstate because she took too long to find a safe spot to pull over. She had turned her emergency lights on and was trying to make her way to the off ramp exactly how the driver's book in the state tells people to do it. After her car had flipped over on the interstate he thought better of it. Of course the state is being sued. Local agencies have restrictions on both pursuits and pits. The state police don't seem to have any reluctance.

    Need to search for Oklahoma state police. Lots of crazy vids. A few where the trooper pulls his AR and fires thru his own windshield while in pursuit.

    It is a bit of a long video, that you would need to speed up a bit. But there is a video from a few years ago where a suped up Hellcat Charger manages to not only outrun the police cars, but the helicopter as well, until they run out of gas.

    The ones on scooters are normally robberies ect. and in one of the few places that theyve allowed the police to ram them on a bike/ scooter.

    Although successful, most of these PIT's were done improperly. You should never perform a PIT at the speeds some of these guys were going...and NEVER when other vehicles are around.
