Frequently asked questions (taken from the world record speedrun video):
Q: "Why don't you skip all the gates?"
A: It is required to open 5 slime gates to get the credits starmail. The other requirements are opening the ancient ruins gate, activating the glass desert teleporter and reading the final H note.
Q: "Why do you skip over the slime gates if you open them?"
A: We skip over certain gates so we don't have to wait for the opening animation to finish.
Q: "Why do you have to read all the starmail?"
A: To get the credits starmail you must read all previous casey mails, you will only recieve a starmail when the previous one has been read.

Ok, but TECHNICALLY he's not a slime mass murderer, being that the lore says when you yeet them to the sea they just go somewhere else in the world, and the thicc bois (gordos) are just a bunch of smol hungy bois and when they explode thats them splitting, so there's no reason for the slime cops to get him!

When you feed the gordo slimes, the lore is that they're several slimes that merged into one big slime, so when you're exploding them, you're not killing them you're just splitting them back apart, which is why a bunch of slimes come out when you feed them.

It's cute and wholesome. That's also why the slime sea is- well- the slime sea.
To get rid of slimes you don't have enough space for on your ranch, you can spit those slimes back into the slime sea. It doesn't kill them, they just- canonically become part of the slime sea and, in lore, wash back up on land.
You’re kinda improving their quality of life if you think about it. They were stuck in one spot and too big to play or find food so you gave them liposuction and now they can move again

Essentially, the slime sea is a mix of slime and saltwater, so whenever you throw a slime on the slime sea, it is reborn and becomes a new slime, technically doesn't die

I have always loved this game i finally got to buy it like maybe almost a year ago and like a month ago after a few months of not playing it i decided to play it again and that was when i started to actually care about Casey’s starmails cuz she seemed like a really nice person and i loved reading all her starmails
But the thing is i never beat the game
I had the last area, lots of slimes, all the ranch areas and all that stuff but i never knew that you were actually supposed to do the mails to complete the game
So i was at like day 150 when i beat the game and after reading all of Casey’s messages that was honestly just so heartwarming
So i accidentally beat the game because i got attached to Casey’s mails

this is one of my favorite games of all time. The story actually got me in tears and its just such a peaceful relaxing experience to play through no matter how many times you play
As someone who has played way way way too much of this game and vaguely remembers all the lore, your idea of the Glass Desert being the past is actually very cool and I wish that were canon.

Here's a speed-overview of the story to accompany the speedrun: Beatrix left Earth to get some space from her rocky relationship, which is basically what Hobson and Thora also went through. Also, people use plorts (slime poop) to make stuff.
I don't think their relationship was "rocky" considering the end credits have a song dedicated to beatrix from her lover. I think it was just a lack of shared interests, as is explored through the starmails. There's never any implication they didn't get along. It was more just that beatrix wanted to explore. She was a nature gal, while her partner (gender's never specified) was a singer and loved the city. They never fought, just had different callings.
I also don't think hobson or thora ever fought either? Pretty sure that Hobson's notes mention wanting to get away from a desk job or something. As far as I'm aware, both were single before they met each other, drawn to the call of the unknown. This is also solidified by the second game's story.
Quic note- throwing off the cliff doesn't murder them according to the lore. Supposedly the ocean's a big teleportation system for slimes- they go in and out somewhere else.

Here's some good advice: The gordo slimes(the ones that give you the key) they usually need 50 food of their diet. But, for their favourite food,, it takes 25. So, if you want better time, consider using 25 of the slimes favourite food.

I personally disagree on the story. It's completely disconnected from the gameplay outside of a couple tips and comments about the environment H drops on you sometimes when he's not reminiscing, and everything happens and resolves before the main character arrives. By the end I was kinda skimming through the H messages since they really didn't provide much other than some thoughts from a guy you never even meet. And the ending was as anticlimactic as you can get. The two doors metaphor is completely lost when you are ultimately never given any sort of choice with any real ramifications, despite the heavy implication that such a choice would present itself (presumably the choice to continue the ranch or go back to earth to live with the main character's lover).
The gameplay was really good though. It's lots of fun, and I would definitely agree that the game should be played normally by anyone interested.

Speedruns aside, Slime Rancher is one of my favorite games ever
The story and the setting helped me a lot through depression and anxiety.
Every time i see those cute slimes i cant help but feel a warmth in my chest.
I fucking love it
And the lore is so interesting. It gives me a nice sense of escapism from everything. I wish for a world where we get all our materials and energy from these cheery slimes who are glad to live on a ranch as long as they’re fed. No unethical farms, no pollution, just happy slimes and cure-all plorts.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a depressed teen or the only dude at the gym who can bench-press 500 pounds, you’ll always feel joy while playing this game.

Throughout all his videos, I noticed there's something about Eazy's voice and demeanor that makes things and names he says sound made up even though they actually exist. My two favorites in this video are

Quick optimization: you don’t actually have to open the jungle door at the beginning as the area loads in before the door is opened.
You can either jump the wall with the slimes or use the jet pack off of the bridge to fly just over the ledge. This saves you an extra slime key which can be used for other optimizations.
This would work but you actually need to use a certain number of keys by the time you reach Hector's last note in order to complete the game. The first key is most conveniently used in the jungle door.
You could potentially save the key and use it to unlock the second slime gate next to the big gate allowing access into the quarry from that direction and still get another key by a similar route, thus allowing you to unlock a different door to meet the quota. (Example: unlocking doors within the glass desert as the two in the zone are relatively close together.)

Hey speezy, thank you for making this video. I took a long break from slime rancher because I had lost literally all of my food by deleting silos with food in them. This video got me back into the game and I love it and I feel kinda like I'm playing the first time again. Overall, I'm having the most fun in slime rancher than I have in a while.

This game is very relaxing, it's the sort of thing I turn on after a long and stressful day at work.
Fun fact: the water around Far Far Range is actually made of slime--and it's completely harmless to slimes. Actually, slimes use this ocean as like transportation. And they even come out happier than before when the leave the ocean!
So, basically, when you throw them into the ocean you're not murdering them, you're actually making them very happy!
