    it actually makes alot of sense that a limited production run vehicle would have variations as much of it was probably hand made much like in real life when prototypes are ordered of a military vehicle each one is different to test the effect of certain modifications on performance before settling on a standard for mass production also aircraft of this size would take a long time to construct so i can see changes being made between units to improve them as they role out something that is also common irl during wartime with rushed production

    A massive flying brick of a carrier for a faction that barely control the sky is just amazing for the enemy.

      "Barely" isn't how control of the air is described. Either you control the air, or you don't. It's like saying a pregnant woman is barely pregnant. No, either she is pregnant, or she is not.

    You miss another variation from Kondo, in 0079 there is between other Gaws at battle of Jaburo, a different one with a lot of domes on, that looks like an EWAC variant!
    Pluss in one of Ghiren's Greed videos about the Artic Treaty is possible to see a small two engine Gaw with Public Colony Corporation logo on the vertical stabilizator!

      @gundamfacts  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Was aware of the one from 0079 but dismissed it since a lot of the vehicles there are redesigned regular variants (like the Mad Angler that is drastically different in the story). However, wasn't aware of the one from Gihren Greed. Would you have a link to its picture?

      Anyway, good video! Love it!
      I have just a lore ralated question/theory:
      Based on Igloo 2 first Gaws are seen on Earth during the dropp operation on North America and SE Asia. Far too soon for Zeon to have time to built them up in central Asia and Europe and send them.
      Is possible that they are actually made in space and are space reentry capable?

    The Gaw and Garuda were both inspired by the real life Lockheed CL-1201, a proposed nuclear-powered massive aircraft. Three versions were proposed: a super transport capable of airlifting hundreds of infantry and dozens of vehicles in a single aircraft, an airborne aircraft carrier capable of transporting 22 fighter jets, and the third variant remains classified but is speculated to be either a super bomber or a command and control aircraft capable of staying airborne for extended periods in the event of a nuclear war. The aircraft had effectively unlimited range and could remain airborne for 41 days, at which point the crew would run out of food and water and need to land to resupply. Like the Gaw, it flew using its 4 nuclear jet engines, but to take off and land it required 182 vertical lift engines that burned conventional jet fuel. Being as there were few airport runways capable of supporting such a massive aircraft, there were proposals to also make it capable of landing and taking off from water, like the Garuda, but they never actually came up with an amphibious design. Obviously they never actually built the CL-1201, but the US Air Force did briefly seriously consider building a small fleet of them as the ultimate aircraft, especially given Soviet experiments with nuclear-powered bombers, but the whole idea got scrapped as expensive and impractical, deciding that a small fleet of bombers/transports was more cost effective than one giant super bomber/transport.
    Between this, the real robot genre, and the O'Neill Island 3 space colony, Gundam is clearly the universe where all the cool ideas from the 60's and 70's futurism actually came into being.

    4:28 Where is the hinting about them being railguns? Rail weapons seem really rare in the UC timeline, (Which is odd, given the invention of the i-field and anti beam gas)

    • @gundamfacts
      @gundamfacts  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There was a talk about it on MaHQ back in the day. Many pointed out that the game renderings from the SD games and the lack of space in the wings for regular shell cannons seem to indicate the Gaw cannons fire smaller projectiles than let's say dabudes or Big Tray and could be something more in line with the railcannons of the pre refit Magellans. I don't like the idea either but I think it's worth mentioning it...alongside the fact that these cannons are glass Doors in the first design of the Gaw
