Love this scene. This kid reminds me of an old bandmate, Ryan Shulz. We played in our crappy punk band, toured around america a few times, then he decided he wanted to start partying as hard as he could. Fine, but he skipped band practice to see the reformed grateful dead (without garcia) when we had big show coming up. It was the last straw after a few incidents, like when he tried to steal the money we got paid for a show and blamed the promoter (saira from detestation), so we kicked him out. Threw his bass on the lawn and made our side project our main project. A few years later I saw him at a Tragedy show and man, he looked rough. I tried to find him to talk to him but he disappeared. A few years later he died. RIP Ryan, "Ray Ray".
The weird is that he sings the lyrics of Talking Heads: "Feet on the ground, head in the sky". If he knows Arcade Fire's version, should be the other way around: "Head in the sky, feet on the ground"
I love this dialogue: Tommy: "I know how to sing." Cheyenne: "I have no doubt but I don't know how to play." Tommy: "That's not true. My mom says you were a singer." Rachel: "He even sang with Mick Jagger." Cheyenne: "Actually Mick Jagger sang with me. It was his idea." Rachel: "Wow, rock history revealed right here in our house, Tommy." Tommy: "Can you play something? Please, just one song." Cheyenne: "I don't play anymore and besides I don't even know if I remember how." Tommy: "My music teacher says once you learn you never forget." Cheyenne: "Maybe he was just trying to be nice or he was just trying to worm some money out of you." Tommy: "Please, just one!" Cheyenne: "What do you want me to play?" Tommy: "'This Must Be the Place' by Arcade Fire" Cheyenne: "Nonsense. 'This Must Be the Place' is by the Talking Heads." Tommy: "No, it's by Arcade Fire." Cheyenne: "Trust me, you're delusional. 'This Must Be the Place' is by the Talking Heads. Arcade Fire only did a cover." Tommy: "Oh" [sings] "Home is where the..." Cheyenne: "Where are you going? I was just seeing if the guitar was in tune." Tommy: "Oh, sorry".
Yeah, it's like saying THE Arcade Fire. It's fucking stupid. Hate when people fuck that up. So fucking stupid. I swear to god people are such fucking imbeciles.
"Hollywood's Holocaust" I don't know how many films do this now. has already been made into a topic by some young writers, screenwriters, directors or actors in order to make money from it.
Such a fragile and beautiful scene, one of my favourites!

Sounds like the usual band experience. I’ve been there’ 😆 sorry for your loss
My favourite scene from any movie of all time. Beautiful in more ways than can be articulated.

huh nice
I agree, the kid is lying.
What if 🤔 he remembers badly thus changing the order of the lyrics (matching the talking heads' version) 😂 and is funny so he smiles
never for money, always for love! ♥
I cry every time.
This was a good movie. Very underrated film. Sean Penn is a brilliant actor.
this is my favourite scene, I cried 3 times
I cried every time I see it, but maybe 'cause I only see it when I'm sad.
Sean Penn knocked it way outta the park in that movie. Great character great movie.

You're right men :')
I agree
It always makes me happy David Byrne really likes Arcade Fire, and vice versa. Good friends too.
This is why I love Sorrentino

The movie was a revelation. Didn't expect much, walked home with this weird feeling that stays with you for a while after a good movie.
i really loved this movie...It starts off really slow, but Sean Penn really proves he can do any roll. VeRy Powerful though.

Really curious! A Bohemian club symbol in a movie speaking about the Shoah. Something like a bad joke?
The Name of the Band is Talking Heads.
Una película dedicada a Robert Smith the cure
Who knew Pearl (Porl) Thompson can act
it's "Talking Heads", not THE Talking Heads...
+jdwelborn Thanks Hermione.

"Hollywood's Holocaust"
I don't know how many films do this now. has already been made into a topic by some young writers, screenwriters, directors or actors in order to make money from it.
HAHAH ALWAY MAKE ME LOUGH THAT HE LOOKED LIKE ROBERT SMITH
Rebel Wilson with Robert Smith?
jonah hill was great in this scene
Anyone recognise the tune as he was tuning??
hmm....it doesn't sound like Talking Heads's song "This Must Be the Place". I mean the melodies are difference
It is
no, it is not.
De pana el robert Smith
This movie is so bizarre but I loved it: basically it’s a road trip movie about Robert Smith hunting nazis. 😀
If they were going to butcher a song, why did they have to pick naive melody?
What movie?
This must be the place by Sorrentino!
This should have been a better movie. Could someone ADR Sean Penn’s lines?
shouldn't it be called Just Like Heaven, much better i think
💗👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷

One of the worst Robert Smith impressions I have ever seen. Really bad!

Funny that this Robert Smith does
