The think that really breaks me with Caleb’s story is looking at fan projects like this. Looking those younger portrayals of him right in the face and thinking “that is someone who is lawful evil.”
I think it could be argued he was lawful neutral as he did what he did not for self-gain but because he believed it was for the empire and ultimately for what at the time he believed to be the greater good.
This just encapsulates the whole critical role experience in the space of five minuets. Truly beautifully done the talent of evaryone involved is incredible and I hope to see much more in your own time of corse. Creating something so moveing takes time after all :)

I'm??? in tears??? This is so beautiful and it shows Caleb's story and his relationships with the Nein (especially Nott!) so so well. Also Eodwulf's eye roll was perfect and made me laugh a lot. I can really tell that so much work went into this and it's just stunning!
2:47 This is definitely one of my favorite shots of this. The transition between their first (VERY awkward) hug, to them properly hugging is absolutely fantastic. It shows the immense amount of progress and development they made together in three seconds. Absolutely incredible
My favorite part of this video is the interaction between Caleb and Caduceus. Earlier in the video Molly slapped Caleb and then kissed him in order to calm him and comfort him. Later in the video when Caduceus lifts his hand to the side of Caleb's face, Caleb moves his head away slightly and winces as if anticipating to be slapped again. Beautiful attention to detail, I love this video so much.
The subtleties of this are incredible. It really captures Caleb's journey and emotions without anyone ever technically saying a word. Beautifully done!

This officially makes a grown man cry. It's so good. The way the flashbacks align with the softer parts of the music, and the important parts of his new life align with the louder music. The locations, the cosplay, the acting, the choice of scenes from the show... Just so great. I really love the idea that this is exactly how Caleb sees things, he doesn't focus on the dragons, knolls, war, whatever... he sees his friends. Can't believe it existed for three months before i ever saw it. Actually, I gotta add two things. The lyrics of the song are perfect for Caleb too. Also, the part that chokes me up the most is the moment when he remembers burning his family (or so it seems) and then the music picks up with fjord breaking him out of the memory. Not only these characters, but the players themselves, all consider themselves flawed, and they are, just not in the ways they think they are, which can be frustrating for those around them, yet their friends (both in character and out) are still there to help them and care about them and break them out of the mental prisons they put themselves in... That moment when Fjord does that for Caleb, right as the music picks up with "BUT IT'S NOT TONIGHT", is such a joyously defiant moment. Just amazing.

It was a tricky one because we filmed some scenes with her before getting more information about Caleb's opinion of her in more recent episodes, so I'm glad our version of her still came across well! I'd like to believe that they did have fun together and enjoyed each other's company, but that perhaps she was more of the boss of the two? I guess we might find out later on!
This is honestly breathtaking. In so many subtle little ways you capture the energy of each character and explore the wonderful journey of the mighty Nein and Caleb. I love this!

Not to mention my two favorite things in the world are Hozier and Critical Role! Amazing work all around. The acting was spot on- every moment felt so genuine. I have watch this maybe too many times and not only is it absolutely gorgeous and the acting and cosplays are fantastic but I've been staring at all the shots where there are other characters in the background who whilst aren't important to whatever is going on in the foreground add so much and makes it really feel real and grounded and yeah, it's a habit I've picked up from doing theatre and I'm blown away by how much has gone into the background acting so that it feel real and cohesive even if it's it not the main focus of that shot and might only be seen by someone on a rewatch or it specifically looking out for other characters in a shot or something, I'm just blown away and keep finding things every time I rewatch it. Just wonderful work from everybody
Ahhh thank you so much for noticing! Having other characters in the background made all the shots feel more believable to shoot, the whole goal for the choruses was like 'slice of life with the Mighty Nein' just showing off various moments with Caleb, so it made sense that everyone would be about. What really got me was the part when caduceus appears cause it lets you know that one of the many people Caleb had trusted in the group was no longer with them anymore.
And yet, as I got to comment to Talisen a few weeks ago, when Deucy meets Trent, two eps in a row he is A, ready to tell Yasha "You can kill him" and then tells Caleb, "If Trent even looks at you wrong there will be NOTHING left of him". Molly would have been the same way.

This gave me so so so many Caleb feelings and I bawled through the latter half so I'm going to need to watch it again so I can make sure I didn't miss anything. This is so beautifully done. From the song choice to the moments chosen to the way it's shot. I'm so happy your friends were there to push you to do this project. Caleb deserves it. I really hope Liam and the crew sees this.
I think what makes me love this so much (besides for all the obvious stuff like shots, editing, the music, the cosplay, etc) is how much wish fulfillment I get from seeing the nein in the real world. In so many shots (particularly in the second half, alter the 2:30 mark), although the camera is focused on Caleb, you can see the nein behind him. It makes them feel real and while yes, this is about Caleb, its also a space for fictional characters to exist. Things like Beau and Yasha flirting, Molly and Nott dancing, Jester running up to Fjord every third shot, Beau standing on a tree while she's talking to people, the clerics making their rounds, Yasha and Fjord walking together through a background, Beau and Cad meditating together, all of it is so god damn perfect!
I don't really know much about Critical Role but there's some really inspired camera work and editing in this and I can't believe it's in 4k and everyone of those cosplayers still looks incredible right down to the ones in full body paint. Like I am just blown away. This piece is truly firing on all cylinders. So well done!!

God how absolutely all encompassingly lovely! The acting was amazing, as were the costumes, obviously, but the story you set up, the cinematography, the editing, all of it was astoundingly well put together. I love how you kept the M9 in the background of other shots, it really speaks to the closer relationships we've seen develop and such a brilliant way to capture it. I was clutching my chest from cuteness/feels the whole way through. One of my very favourite shots is the last one, at about 4:20, the party walking off into the sunset, so gorgeous! The colours, the staging, pacing, acting... Just ugh 💖💖
This is SPECTACULAR. I have maybe a dozen videos in my favorites and this one was added within the first minute or so. I don't know how you managed to so perfectly encapsulate the emotions that the Mighty Nein bring forth. As an aside, the actress who played Nott is adorable and perfectly managed to encapsulate the chaotic confused energy that is her signature.

Story time: I've seen this video twice. The first time was before I had started watching Critical Role. Now I'm on episode 21 of campaign 2 and it feels so different. Now that I know the characters and I've seen some of their struggles (although I know there are more to come. I'm approaching episode 26 which... well, if you know, you know) and this video feels so raw and so real. The interactions between the characters are so genuine and the energy of the project is very true to the energy of Critical Role itself. I'm excited to revisit this once I've made it even further into the series. I think this is a truly beautiful work you've created.

It was a tricky one because we filmed some scenes with her before getting more information about Caleb's opinion of her in more recent episodes, so I'm glad our version of her still came across well! I'd like to believe that they did have fun together and enjoyed each other's company, but that perhaps she was more of the boss of the two? I guess we might find out later on!
This is honestly breathtaking. In so many subtle little ways you capture the energy of each character and explore the wonderful journey of the mighty Nein and Caleb. I love this!

Everyone's costumes are stunning, the locations, god, where do you even find these places?! Well done, you can see every last amount of effort and every piece of love that went into making this. TEAAAAARRRSSS, guys. This is so beautifully done! I can’t even express what was my favorite because even the subtlest of moments was so evocative and amazing. Not to mention my two favorite things in the world are Hozier and Critical Role! Amazing work all around. The acting was spot on- every moment felt so genuine. And this was shot and edited so beautifully I could gush about the cinematography for literal ages. I’m gonna go watch this six more times.

I have watch this maybe too many times and not only is it absolutely gorgeous and the acting and cosplays are fantastic but I've been staring at all the shots where there are other characters in the background who whilst aren't important to whatever is going on in the foreground add so much and makes it really feel real and grounded and yeah, it's a habit I've picked up from doing theatre and I'm blown away by how much has gone into the background acting so that it feel real and cohesive even if it's it not the main focus of that shot and might only be seen by someone on a rewatch or it specifically looking out for other characters in a shot or something, I'm just blown away and keep finding things every time I rewatch it. Just wonderful work from everybody
Ahhh thank you so much for noticing! Having other characters in the background made all the shots feel more believable to shoot, the whole goal for the choruses was like 'slice of life with the Mighty Nein' just showing off various moments with Caleb, so it made sense that everyone would be about. This is so nice to hear back, thank you

And yet, as I got to comment to Talisen a few weeks ago, when Deucy meets Trent, two eps in a row he is A, ready to tell Yasha "You can kill him" and then tells Caleb, "If Trent even looks at you wrong there will be NOTHING left of him". Molly would have been the same way.

This gave me so so so many Caleb feelings and I bawled through the latter half so I'm going to need to watch it again so I can make sure I didn't miss anything. This is so beautifully done. This is so beautifully done and the emotional journey was so powerful I can’t explain how much I adore it
I think what makes me love this so much (besides for all the obvious stuff like shots, editing, the music, the cosplay, etc) is how much wish fulfillment I get from seeing the nein in the real world.
In so many shots (particularly in the second half, alter the 2:30 mark), although the camera is focused on Caleb, you can see the nein behind him. It makes them feel real and while yes, this is about Caleb, its also a space for fictional characters to exist.
Things like Beau and Yasha flirting, Molly and Nott dancing, Jester running up to Fjord every third shot, Beau standing on a tree while she's talking to people, the clerics making their rounds, Yasha and Fjord walking together through a background, Beau and Cad meditating together, all of it is so god damn perfect!
This is so beautiful. Everyone involved should be so proud.

I don't really know much about Critical Role but there's some really inspired camera work and editing in this and I can't believe it's in 4k and everyone of those cosplayers still looks incredible right down to the ones in full body paint. God how absolutely all encompassingly lovely! The acting was amazing, as were the costumes, obviously, but the story you set up, the cinematography, the editing, all of it was astoundingly well put together. I love how you kept the M9 in the background of other shots, it really speaks to the closer relationships we've seen develop and such a brilliant way to capture it. I was clutching my chest from cuteness/feels the whole way through. One of my very favourite shots is the last one, at about 4:20, the party walking off into the sunset, so gorgeous! The colours, the staging, pacing, acting... Just ugh 💖💖

Story time: I've seen this video twice. The first time was before I had started watching Critical Role. Now I'm on episode 21 of campaign 2 and it feels so different. Now that I know the characters and I've seen some of their struggles (although I know there are more to come. I'm approaching episode 26 which... well, if you know, you know) and this video feels so raw and so real. The interactions between the characters are so genuine and the energy of the project is very true to the energy of Critical Role itself. I'm excited to revisit this once I've made it even further into the series. I think this is a truly beautiful work you've created.
