thank you i spent a lot of time in the 80s and 90s watching trains at Carnforth so this brings back good memories especially with the Furness and midland junction box and the midland junction box still in use, both long gone now of course
My pleasure.... I went all around the Barrow Coast line filming trains 9only Pacers and Sprinters) alongside the old signal boxes and semaphores. I had to hire a car to do it though, the service was quite sparse and it would have taken a couple of weeks to do it by train!
Yes, i always whipped in any on track machines as something different. In 1985 i filmed a Unimog doing its thing at Bletchley.... something still to be uploaded.......
I spent time at the heritage centre in the summer of 96 working on the narrow gauge railway, but by that time it was pretty deserted and mostly the site of restoration for private stock. The West Coast platforms closed in 1968, but of interest is Hest Bank and Grange over Sands.
Great little video! Bit of a Brief Encounter at Carnforth, yes?! Have to laugh - 3 nuclear flasks being moved by one class 31 (1,470 hp), these days there's only 1 or 2 flasks being moved by TWO class 68's (3,800 hp x2)...
As always great classic footage. Is it possible to use a few selected clips from some of your exeter st davids videos? These will be used in a model railway running session of my Exeter St David's layout. As always with any clips I've been allowed to use I'll add a credit note and link in the description. Thanks. Tim.
@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus cheers. I have produced one so far with a few clips from another channel.. that went well but was limited on camera angles at the real place. Hopefully I can make justice with some of the cracking clips you filmed and incorporate them into another layout running session soon. Cheers. Will link you in when that goes out. 👍

I think DRS are worried about any possible failures. In BR days of course it was a national system and plenty of replacement locos ect if required.
Isn't there a requirement now for nuclear trains to be double headed for security reasons ?
Ah yes my favourite station …..Th

Was Steamtown still open? Or had it become West Coadt Railways by then?
I can't remember now..... i know this was midweek and i didn't go looking to visit them.....
More or less but you could walk around the site freely.
