  • Ian Tamblyn performs his much loved classic, Woodsmoke and Oranges on the very guitar on which he wrote the song 30 years earlier. This song captures the essence of a long canoe adventure along the mighty Lake Superior coast. Performed in Peterborough, Ontario in November 2012.

They used to open the real Ottawa folk festival with this song and flow into OH Canada. , right after our Aboriginal Blessing.

Love this. I can almost feel the rhythm of my paddle playing with the waves.

Ian seems to be very fond of those old Harmony Sovereigns. He often brings a couple to gigs. He's also my favourite player of Nashville tuned guitars. He uses them for more than adding a high end to a mix. One of the few solo high strung players. My late mom was a big fan of Ian, as am I.

Lived north of Pukaskwa for a couple of years and this recording definitely takes my mind back to 'the days of sun and wind'. Thanks for the excellent video, especially for keeping his guitar playing in the frame for the whole song. I got to learn this rendition for sure - haven't tried Nashville tuning yet and this video is an inspiration to give it a go.

I had always hoped to hear him play at the HIBOU in the by-ward market Ottawa.
