People don't know planes are on Autopilot 95%-98% of the time they pilots usually just do the take off and landing unless something happens where they have to take over control

This is one of the most highly regulated industries in the world, and the crew are exceedingly skilled and responsible. I'd recommend trusting them.
Plus what people don’t seem to understand about planes is that the captain or first officer isn’t always in control and flying by hand they have autopilot so once they get into cruising altitude they’re basically hands free until they make they’re approach on their next stop

@@AntiFurrySupport The A321 is part of the A320 family. Very little additional training is needed between the 318,19,20,21 variants. Some airlines do barely any. They fly the same type of aircraft, some are just the stretched version, basically.

For anyone flying spirit economy you should ask to get the seats next to the emergency hatch since it gives you extra room and also allows you to jump out if you get too fed up with the people around you.
I paid extra to get the wider, plush economy seats at the front … and it was NICE. But I’ve been flying Spirit like a hobo so I guess anything would like an upgrade 🤣🤣🤣
i once was on a Spirit flight where an american who lived in Korea put her kimchi in the overhead bin _and it leaked all during the flight_ the poor guy who had kimchi juice dripping on him the entire flight had to use the call button 4X before a stewardess asked him what was the problem

I'll be honest, I fly a lot. I love spirit. It's cheap, efficient, always on time, and they're usually pretty funny. I've flown as low as $12. I can fit everything into a backpack and I'm good.
So much drama, like at the start saying they have bad planes, they are the exact same ones Delta and American use, while United uses even older versions of those a320 family aircraft. Also, there are very strict FAA regulations, pilots of Spirit are highly qualified like those from all other airlines and yes you always have to know the bagage rules either low-cost airlines, paying extra is your own fault😂

You’ve never seen the captain or FO leave the cockpit for a restroom or food break? It’s perfectly normal, and there’s always one or the other to monitor the controls when one of them leaves the cockpit for a few minutes. With the flight deck being heavily automated aside from taxi and takeoff/landing, during the cruise part of the flight they’re mainly there to monitor the instruments. Regardless, there’s always someone in the cockpit to take the controls from the autopilot if the need arises.

Spirit does not advertise those seats as first class, it's just "The Big Front Seat" Pilots coming out of the cockpit is totally normal if it's cruising in normal conditions. Spirit is alright if you know how to fly with them and budget in their fees.
I’m an airline pilot and not 12 hours ago, I came out of the flight deck, used the restroom, and grabbed a soda. This is normal. This is why we have two pilots, among other reasons.

I’ve flown on spirit several times and I think I’ve gotten what I’ve paid from. Round trip from Pennsylvania to Florida for $60? Absolutely. Wife and I have taken several spur of the moment 1 and two day trips because of this low cost. I think people need to lower their expectations when flying economy carriers.

Yk planes legit can take off and fly and land all on autopilot, it’s also done regularly especially when your js cruising. While the takeoff and landings are closely monitored but still can be performed perfectly on its own
Planes don't take off automatically. The pilot usually hold full control until around 5000agl. Landing only is performed automatically if there is need to do so. Most common case is a fog with visibility below I believe 500ft. That's when you do automatic approach.
commercial planes can't take-off with auto-pilot but you are right the plane is on auto-pilot when cruising but if they were putting auto-pilot when landing, there's a high chance that it would be a rough landing

As someone who knows a lot about planes, spirit flys only the Airbus A320 line of airplanes. These are some of the safest and best planes ever built. And turbulence can/will happen on any flight. Nothing is wrong with spirits planes just because of turbulence
My family and I fly spirit a lot. It really isn’t bad at all. You just have to really follow their bag guidelines or try to pack light. Flights were never delayed and and if there were any cancellations they definitely let you know in a timely matter. Also they have a great communication system when it comes to gate changes or anything like that. Our worst experiences were with American Airlines. Delays up the wazoo, horrible desk and steward service and seats were a nightmare
Airliners have an autopilot feature, and have been a thing since even WW2 where US bombers had autopilot that would keep the aircraft straight and level, so the pilots could rest

I literally lost $100 from my wallet, and they forgot to take out my luggage. 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 It was kinda good tho… Not that bad 3.6/5 The good thing was when I was coming from Texas to Las Vegas to California, they didn’t charge me for the backpack since it was a personal one. Bro, I went to spirit plane and nothing bad happened well one time, but we way back home. My mom was scared for heights so the plane was shaking and she was scared and then five minutes later it was shaking again, but this time it was different the plane shake so hard that everybody was screaming.
It's two, you would only see the "third pilot" on *older* plane models (mostly from the 90s and belpw), and that third pilot is usually the "flight engineer" their job is to make sure every system on the plane run smoothly and fix it if anything is broken (this is because old aircraft models are analog based)

My fiancé Peter runs the big Planespotting channel you might know as 𝐋𝐀 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬. He has met several Spirit Airlines pilots. I can immediately tell you that they are INSANE! BONKERS! Peter told me that a Spirit pilot gave him a wave mid takeoff awhich meant no one was flying or controlling the plane as it took off. Pilot messaged him later and was like “yeah it was fine no big deal!” AND this Spirit Pilot could have gotten in trouble because it was on the show and the airline could have seen it! Peter has also heard stories about spirit flight attendants touching eachother in certain ways in the galley. The pilots have even taken mid flight dares to show off who can go through the worst thunderstorms and handle it the best not only giving the passengers extra turbulence but risking their lives. These are all stories that have been told. Spirit pilots think this is just a fun gig!!s Even Peter was worried they would get in trouble after he had done that unexpectedly in front of literally thousands of people on the live show.
I’ll take a $50 ticket any day over a $600 ticket. Travel light, it’s really not a big deal. I’m glad this opportunity is available in our economy today. Spirit has one of the newest fleets, which is common for ultra low-cost airlines. I've flown several trips on spirit and have never been disappointed. Yes you pay extra for baggage but it's still way under the average fare on other airlines.
1. There is autopilot which is literally on 75% - 80% of duration of the flight. 2. There is this thing called a first officer that just needs to monitor the flight instruments when the captain is out of the cockpit. 3. If a pilot leaves the cockpit a flight attendant has to come in because two people have to been in the cockpit at once. So, yes I think the captain should be able to eat some snacks on his 3 hour flight.

This is normal. This is why we have two pilots, among other reasons.
Should there be another pilot with the co-pilot if the the first pilot leaves for safety reasons ? Don’t want to end up like the Germanwings

@@yankeesforlife24A plane can't start it's own engines, or taxi itself to the runway, or take off. It can follow it's route and land in favorable conditions, but not without the pilot inserting info into the FMC. In the end the pilot and co-pilot are needed, autopilot or not.

I’ve flown on spirit several times and I think I’ve gotten what I’ve paid from. Round trip from Pennsylvania to Florida for $60? Absolutely. Wife and I have taken several spur of the moment 1 and two day trips because of this low cost. I think people need to lower their expectations when flying economy carriers.
Not a fan of spirit airlines, but they don't cut corners as far as safety. They have to follow the same rules all other airlines do. Highly qualified pilots and brand new fuel efficient planes to keep the costs low. Ghetto yes. Unsafe no.

Yk planes legit can take off and fly and land all on autopilot, it’s also done regularly especially when your js cruising. While the takeoff and landings are closely monitored but still can be performed perfectly on its own

Planes don't take off automatically. The pilot usually hold full control until around 5000agl. Landing only is performed automatically if there is need to do so. Most common case is a fog with visibility below I believe 500ft. That's when you do automatic approach.
commercial planes can't take-off with auto-pilot but you are right the plane is on auto-pilot when cruising but if they were putting auto-pilot when landing, there's a high chance that it would be a rough landing

As someone who knows a lot about planes, spirit flys only the Airbus A320 line of airplanes. These are some of the safest and best planes ever built. And turbulence can/will happen on any flight. Nothing is wrong with spirits planes just because of turbulence

My family and I fly spirit a lot. It really isn’t bad at all. You just have to really follow their bag guidelines or try to pack light. Flights were never delayed and and if there were any cancellations they definitely let you know in a timely matter. Also they have a great communication system when it comes to gate changes or anything like that.
Our worst experiences were with American Airlines. Delays up the wazoo, horrible desk and steward service and seats were a nightmare

Airliners have an autopilot feature, and have been a thing since even WW2 where US bombers had autopilot that would keep the aircraft straight and level, so the pilots could rest
I felt like this guy's criticism of spirit and the pilot was undeserved. Even if spirit is known as the worst airline it's still a airline with a customer base and still needs to meet the requirements of an airline.

The good thing was when I was coming from Texas to Las Vegas to California, they didn’t charge me for the backpack since it was a personal one. But when I was trying to go to Las Vegas, we were waiting 2 to 3 more hours just for bad weather conditions.

Bro, I went to spirit plane and nothing bad happened well one time, but we way back home. My mom was scared for heights so the plane was shaking and she was scared and then five minutes later it was shaking again, but this time it was different the plane shake so hard that everybody was screaming.

Its 2 nowadays, on older airlines it was 2 pilots and a flight engineer or 2
2 on flights like this. 4 pilots on a long haul.
It's two, you would only see the "third pilot" on *older* plane models (mostly from the 90s and belpw), and that third pilot is usually the "flight engineer" their job is to make sure every system on the plane run smoothly and fix it if anything is broken (this is because old aircraft models are analog based)

My fiancé Peter runs the big Planespotting channel you might know as 𝐋𝐀 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬.
He has met several Spirit Airlines pilots.
I can immediately tell you that they are INSANE! BONKERS! Peter told me that a Spirit pilot gave him a wave mid takeoff awhich meant no one was flying or controlling the plane as it took off. Pilot messaged him later and was like “yeah it was fine no big deal!” AND this Spirit Pilot could have gotten in trouble because it was on the show and the airline could have seen it! Peter has also heard stories about spirit flight attendants touching eachother in certain ways in the galley. The pilots have even taken mid flight dares to show off who can go through the worst thunderstorms and handle it the best not only giving the passengers extra turbulence but risking their lives. These are all stories that have been told.

I’ll take a $50 ticket any day over a $600 ticket. Travel light, it’s really not a big deal. I’m glad this opportunity is available in our economy today. I’m tired of people trying to ruin a good thing for likes. It’s not the worst. Showing people hit turbulence… so what! What airline hasn’t hit turbulence. What airline hasn’t had bad customer service, or out of control passengers, or flight delays/cancellations. Every single one. Just use it all to your advantage. That video you saw was not a Spirit Airlines flight, it was a Frontier Airlines flight from Denver to Baltimore. And in the video the shaking of the plane is called turbulence and it is extremely common many flights encounter this evening with high budget Airlines like Emirates in Delta. First that clip was bad turbulence which can happen on any aircraft, most likely a bad decision from the pilot. Second there’s two pilots. Third maybe don’t judge something when you’re completely uneducated and don’t have a simple grasp on even basic workings of an airline of the crew
Spirit isn’t bad at all. One of the very few major airlines with zero passenger casualties in its entire history. They’re flying A320s , which are great and incredibly safe planes.

Spirit has one of the newest fleets, which is common for ultra low-cost airlines. I've flown several trips
on spirit and have never been disappointed. Yes you pay extra for baggage but it's still way under the average fare on other airlines.
1. There is autopilot which is literally on 75% - 80% of duration of the flight.
2. There is this thing called a first officer that just needs to monitor the flight instruments when the captain is out of the cockpit.
3. If a pilot leaves the cockpit a flight attendant has to come in because two people have to been in the cockpit at once.
So, yes I think the captain should be able to eat some snacks on his 3 hour flight.

fly a few times a year and traveled with Spirit twice domestically---experienced one of the smoothest landings with a Spirit pilot; learned the second time i used them to pay for what i need in advance and service was fine
