  • The Wreck of the U.S.
    Just sit right back and
    you'll hear a tale,
Of a land once proud and free,
    That’s sailing fast
    toward troubled seas,
    A shipwrecked destiny.
It started strong with courage bold,
    A beacon shining bright,
But greed and hate took over,
Now we’re sinking out of sight.
    The markets crashed,
    the wages dropped,
    The people split in two,
    While leaders fought
    and pointed blame,
    Not knowing what to do.
    The rich got rich,
    the poor got poor,
    As justice turned away,
And storms of lies and prejudice,
    Destroyed our better way.
    So here we are,
    adrift at sea,
    With hope now growing thin,
Will we unite and steer this ship,
    Or let the storm win?
    Our course is set,
    but there's still time,
To change the way we steer,
Before we hit that rocky shore,
    And sink beneath our fears.
