That intro is very accurate with Monte being the brains of the situation, Thorin as the expert and Loco as the damsel in distress. Monte calling Loco sweetheart was just the icing on the cake.
Hey guys, I apologize for not being able to express myself very well since I was pretty nervous and have a pretty bad tendency to use filler words (I'm going to practice). Anyways, I'd like to retouch on everything that was talked about: Pro/Academy in-houses: I misunderstood Monte. So the obvious upsides is that LCS and Academy players get better quality practice from the in-houses. But we are completely ditching soloQ because we can't fix it (trolls, 1tricks, bad players, careless players, etc.) so it will limit newer players that don't have access to the inhouses. So for now, I think the in-houses will be a good experiment as long as amateurs can also sign up for the inhouses and the organizers can blacklist certain players (think Tarzaned/Xpecial case) and players can blacklist certain players that they don't want to team with. But in the long term, we definitely need to make SoloQ THE place to improve, which we simply can't do right now. CoreJJ said it best: twitter.com/TLCoreJJ/status/1188988623405772800 Scouting: So the way I find rookies, I have three different tools. Scouting grounds, my own players, and simply using the ladder of the top 200 in NA to narrow down players that are interested in going pro. I would set up interviews, have them send me replays of their comp games, and keep up with their SoloQ. This year, I've found about 2-3 potential players in each role with the ladder method. This is definitely the more tedious way to find players, but its necessary if I want to be thorough with it. Player development: So once we find players, we set them up with all of our resources including exposure to our LCS players, 3 coaches that were pros (mentors), sports psychologist, managers, and tools that we've developed). At Cloud9, we want players to always be comfortable speaking their minds and reaching out if they need extra help. To do that, we always eat breakfast together, eat lunch together, watch VODs together, and do other activities like playing board games or going hiking together. And during all of these activities, Academy and LCS players will naturally converse about the game including counterparts discussing matchups. The most important things about player development in my opinion is exposing your rookies to your LCS players, have multiple coaches that were once pros to mentor, physical and mental health, and a family-like culture where everybody is comfortable speaking their minds and reaching out for help. --------------------------------------------- My thoughts on Semis: IG vs FPX: If you watched all of FPX's games at Worlds, you will notice that they are very coordinated and active lvl 1 compared to other teams. They either invaded if their lvl 1 is decent, or they will completely counter the enemy team that tried. But obviously, lvl 1 doesn't mean everything. In the end, IG are more solid and their solo laners are stronger than FPX (ban DoinB ryze). I'll give the edge to IG as long as they fixed their small coordination problem from the GRF series. G2 vs SKT: The way G2 drafts reminds me a lot of how we used to draft in C9 Academy when we had Keith. If all the priority bot laners were gone (Kai'sa Xayah for example), drafting would become incredibly easy because of how flexible Perkz and Keith's champ pool is that we can let bot lane go to pinch. Focusing on having a winning top side of the map with the possibility of also having a winning bot side with unconventional or non-adc picks that can also be flexed to other lanes. Makes lane assignments in game that much easier too, since most traditional AD's need a support to hold their hand if they were to go to a different lane for tempo. Versatility is key. Many other team do draft the same way, but do not execute it nearly as well as G2. Since G2 have drafted and played the same way vs SKT at MSI, I think SKT have learned and adapted. Faker even said that they learned a lot from G2 at MSI. It all comes down to who will adapt quicker in the bo5, and I'll give the edge to SKT. I believe either G2 or SKT will win Worlds.
Don't bother with it man, people want to trash anything. They're all casters/commenters so ofc they gonna be more express themselves more fluidly than the normal person. People know you're a pro player, not an entertainer. That being said it's always a good idea to improve yourself so goodluck with it
What if the pros all take soloq seriously and it is mandatory so they have presence and end up filling challenger such that one tricks and streamers get banned out/demoted if they troll? It's bad enough that certain streamers say they are happy to keep trolling as long as they can stay challenger but they have a point, soloq just isnt' competitive enough. There just needs to be incentive to be high challenger, particularly proscene related opportunities to motivate people to actually get good(relative to the global scene) and play consistently well to foster a higher quality environment in which trolls cannot thrive. Hopefully whatever is done doesn't punish people who just happen to be good at the game while having fun, it's just if they troll they shouldn't expect to be amongst pros. Really good players should be packing challenger and also be able to expect opportunities.

I don't think that Rekkles was talking shit just for that match. Multiple Fnatic members have been very vocal about how bad this year has been. Youngbuck talking about loss of motivation and not trying hard to practice. Broxah was talking about major playstyle disagreements and disagreements about subs. Rekkles has constantly talked about how they lack identity and he looks up to G2 and he does not wanna play just 1 style. In their voice comms, Rekkles is the first guy to say "I played like shit, I'm sorry" and then the entire team follows up by saying that they inted.
In professional sports they have veteran tryouts, and even in some cases veteran "drafts" to keep these guys out of the young talent pool and to evaluate players that used to play professionally. I think this is a good compromise to having the entire pool of available players in the same scouting grounds. In some cases there are people who slipped through the cracks, that were evaluated wrong, and they should have a chance to prove themselves. But not at the expense of taking some young up and comers spot, so that they may slip through the cracks aswell.
