      I hope I can take mine out then as well. We just got 5 inches of snow here in Michigan. So not too happy now. Lol. Thanks for the comment. And please be safe. Sounds like you got a nice wing. 👍

    Hey Mo, I have never ridden the 1500 so I wouldn't know the difference but I can say that I see quite a few of them on the road these days. I think I am more cognizant about that ever since I snagged my 1800. Its chilly here too but that has never stopped me either. I enjoyed the piano tune behind your video. It reminds me of Paul Cardall who is one of my favorites. When I need to mentally escape, its Paul I turn to. You and your family have a safe holiday as well.

      @@mosmotorcyclejourney9067 I've only been riding a motorcycle for 1 uear. (As of today) I just traded my Honda VTX for an 08 Goldwing. A little apprehensive about a bigger bike. But I'm so happy I can hardly concentrate on anything else

    • @mosmotorcyclejourney9067
      @mosmotorcyclejourney9067  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nelsongn9 don't be apprehensive over a gold wing. It's big, it's heavy, but put that out of your mind. Because those thoughts can hold you back. I didn't ride for 23 yrs, and the last bike i had was a 1986 Goldwing GL1200 Interstate . And when I decided to get back into riding i wanted a GL1800. A friend of mine said that's too big for someone that hasn't been riding for 23 yrs. I got apprehensive. So when I was doing my safety test I was gonna ride one of their bikes because I was apprehensive about the weight. My safety instructor said go home and get your wing to do this test. He told me not to dought myself on that goldwing because it's no different than any other bike. It's very nimble and once you can do slow speed menuvers you will be fine. Dont be afraid to lean or drop it. So moral of the story is, don't question yourself, just ride and be free and happy. Like i say in my videos. IF YOU DONT MAKE THE CHOICE, THE CHOICE MAKES YOU. Hopefully that helps you out some. You will be Fine.

    I rode a 1500 for 13yrs and I have now been on my 2012 for 4 yrs. I agree with you, the 1500 is very roomy with a very soft ride. The 1800 is a much sportier ride with crisp handling and more power. I love them both but if I could have a new 1500 I think I would choose it. But I do love the fuel injection of the 1800. That's it someone put the 1800 engine on the 1500 hahahaha. Be safe, have fun.

    • @mosmotorcyclejourney9067
      @mosmotorcyclejourney9067  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You hit that right on the head. I think honda should make that bike again but fuel injection and I'm with you I would buy it. It was a great bike when it was made. It's strange because I like both bikes for different reasons. I also love that crisp clean throttle of a 1800. So it's hard to pick just one. Thank you for your comment and have a great holiday. Be safe.

    So many things in common
    Im a re-entry rider after 25 yrs away as well.
    Bought a 08 gl1800 this September.
    I plan on riding all winter when weather is nice as well (too old to waste time).
    Loved your chat about the 1500 v 1800 bikes.
    Never rode a gl1500 - almost bought a dirt cheap 1999se but never got there in time.
    QQ - I find the 1800 cramped position after a couple of hours, Is the GL1500 any better?
    Is the fairing more narrow on the 1500 than the 1800?
    How tall are u?
    How close are your highway pegs to the valve cover on the 1500?
    Do wrap legs around the fairing or go underneath the fairing to get feet in the highway pegs?
    Do you ride long distance - 3hr straight shots and maybe 6 or more hours in a day?
    I'm 6'2" - looking at mickopegs this spring ut struggling to get this figured out.
    Merry Christmas Mo!!

    • @mosmotorcyclejourney9067
      @mosmotorcyclejourney9067  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Timothy thank you for the questions. I will do my best to answer them. Fist off congratulations on your purchase in September. You picked a nice bike. 👍 I feel the same way as you. I have wasted too much time and don't want to waste any more. So we do have alot in common. I will tell you that the 1800 is a much better bike then the 1500. The one big thing I really don't like about the 1500 is you have to choke it when cold. The 1800 is fuel injection. The highway pegs position is very similar on both bikes. I will say the 1500 is a little more comfortable when you have your feet on the highway pegs. The 1800 seems a bit wider valve cover to valve cover. I rode my 1800 on a 5 hour trip and stopped every hour and a half or so due too just needing to stand up. Like I said in the video on the 1500 your feet are in a slight different position under the knee then the 1800. The 1800 is more of a sport cruiser. I'm 6 ft 1 inch. My highway pegs are 2 inches from my valve cover and yes I want some different ones. So let me know what you go with and how you like them. Wow I think I got it all covered. Anyways I hope you and your family have a great Christmas and please keep in touch. Be safe and thanks for watching

    I just completed my saddlesore 1000 on new years day. Was going for bun burner 1500 but had to stop when temp got down to 31F. 31 F at 75 mph is way too cold for this So Cal guy...even with heated grips and seats. 2021 goldwing.

      😂😂😂 well I would agree with you. I will ride in 39 degrees however if I have to go on the expressway I will take my car. I can't imagine what 31 would feel like. That is below freezing. Maybe if I had a heated outfit from head to toe. Thanks for the feedback 😀 and be safe out there. Enjoy your saddlesore 1000

It's gonna be near 50 tomorrow so I will take her out again. I would love to see a pic of your bike especially if it's the same color. I dont see many that color. I came back from cold ride too mom figuring numbers? How fast were you going? I told her, as she calculates wing speed/wind chill factor, an my 39° temperature turns into -40° below zero! I didn't know of a wind chill chart till then, mom educated me!

    • @mosmotorcyclejourney9067
      @mosmotorcyclejourney9067  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got her up too 90 mph. And yes people don't think about wind chill. When you are riding at 50 mph in 39 degrees the wind chill can be as low as 25. Just depends. Thanks for the comment and be safe.

    Great information. It is sad that they took the wing back to Japan. Those made in the states where bigger and heavier. But We like our mobile couches. And I agree that they are trying too appeal to a younger market by making the wing more sport bike than touring bike. I am still a fan of the GL1500, I would rather cruise for hours in comfort and not be sore the next day. Bike looks great, keep the shiny side up brother.

      I too agree with you John. I just thing the new ones are so narrow. I also think that most of the younger generation won't buy it. But it's all personal preference. However you won't see me on one. I really do love the 1500. Just don't like the choke. Be safe and thanks for watching

    • @garyedwards8142
      @garyedwards8142 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The brine is used to help the salt stick to the road surface , the salt then needs the vehicles to “crunch” it into tho ice n frost n snow.we use the same in the uk… on my 1800 I cover “most” of my bike in ACF 50 or equivalent, several times throughout winter if one riding still… hope this helps…🇬🇧👍
