I absolutely love the idea of reversible! Your approach is straight forward and easily doable👏👏👏 Thank you for taking us along! I’ve not dove into this project pool yet, BUT I will get involved done day🥰 I’ve always loved sewing and crafting! ❤️😀
I am still in awe of the scope of your campaign. As soon as I make some new soap I will send some bars your way! So proud to be associated with you and your vision. 🥰🧵
Please do! Your intentions are all you need. Nothing feels as good as when you see a little girl on the other side of the world wearing your dress. Don't miss out! 🥰🧵
Sorry to be a wet blanket not dissing your hard work at all, I do know everyone involved means well & it's so very pretty; but people shld always check if their area co-ordinator accepts those before they actually make them. We have specific instructions on the Dress a Girl Australia Blog that says that dresses should durable, made of sturdy fabric & should NOT be lined (& nor should the fabric be so flimsy as to require a lining). The added weight of a full, sturdy lining means the volunteer posting & self-financing the postage of the batch now has one less dress she can fit in that batch. Pretty sure she'd accept donations to cover your postage of these to the orphanage etc. but always best to check with your area co-ordinator if particular styles are appropriate for them too. Our instructions also said we should consider that any embellishments must be as sturdy as the rest of the garment & particularly noted fine ribbons/trim being the first thing to get destroyed; when garments are laundered in rough terrain or in nature (e.g. washed in a river, boiled in an iron cauldron or copper vat, beaten across large rocks, twisted between poles, then draped across trees or shrubs to dry etc.), leaving a good dress looking tatty or even unwearable. What was a pretty lace trim, becoming unrecognisable might best have been left off in this situation?
Thank you, for the clarification and insight. I made my dresses extra sturdy, but I will check about adding additional monetary donations to cover shipping. I will also advise others. I know we all want the girls to have the best outcome possible.🧵🪡👗
